Chapter 4
What If?
Chapter 4
"Mum?" I yelled out, wanting to get to Diagon Alley.
"Yes?"
"Can we go now?"
"You're father isn't home yet," she told me from the kitchen.
"When will he be!?" I groaned, impatient.
"I don't know. How about we just go tomorrow, Lexi? Tomorrow morning?"
I grumbled, "Fine."
When tomorrow morning finally made its way around the corner ever so slowly, excitement washed through me. Soon enough, the excitement ended. I was filled with dread.
I would probably have to wait in lines and everything to get my school supplies. I hate lines; they drive me crazy. Especially when people see their friends and join them in line. It bothers me so much that I blow up. That's probably one of the reasons that I never had a lot of friends growing up.
I decided to wear a simple pair of black jeans and a Holy Head Harpies T-Shirt with a Slytherin hoodie and black converse. I put on a little make up and grabbed my wallet and headed down stairs.
I managed to run straight into my brother, Lucas.
Lucas was eight and he had messy black hair and my father's brown eyes. He, unlike my dad, did not need glasses. At least, not from what we were aware of.
Despite him looking an awful lot like my dad, his personality was more like mum's. He wasn't fond of pranks, and he was more of a studious type of kid. Lucas was the top of his class in his muggle primary school, and I teased him a lot for that.
"Watch where you're going, Lexisorous," he told me, frowning at me.
"I'd say the same to you, Lucas Mucous, but I am trying to get on our parents good side right now."
"Why?" Lucas rolled his eyes. "What is it that you want?"
I looked at him, offended. "You think that I am just kissing up to them?"
"Yes, Lexi."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine, well, I want a cat for my birthday, and I need to show them I'm responsible enough."
"You're birthday is in December."
"So? I better start now, right?"
"I guess."
I pushed past the goodie two shoes and continued my way down the stairs.
"Can we go now?" Harry asked, impatient.
"No, your sister isn't ready yet."
"Yes I am! Lucas Mucous was just stalling me up there!" I defended myself against my dad.
"Lexi, don't call your brother Lucas Mucous," my mother reprimanded me.
"It's not my fault you named him a name that rhymes with mucous!" I defended, causing Harry to snicker.
Harry became quiet when he noticed the look mum was giving him.
"Anyway, can we go now? I want to get my wand," Harry asked, enthused.
"Yes, just let me tell Lucas we are leaving."
Mum went to go tell the young boy while dad put his arms around me and Harry.
"Make sure Lexi stays out of trouble, Harry."
"Shouldn't it be the other way around, dad?" I innocently asked him.
"No," he grinned. "Last year you got detention during the start of school speech."
"All I did," I began as I made my way over to the fireplace. "Was ask Snape if he got a new shampoo! Dumbledore laughed! Minnie laughed!"
"Minnie laughed!?" Dad suddenly exclaimed.
"Yes," I told him. "She did."
"Anyway! Harry make sure your sister doesn't get expelled or anything."
I rolled my eyes.
It's nice to know that my family trusts me.
