Chapter two: First steps

This was it. The most important moment of my life. In all my years of living, I have never been as proud of myself as I am now. And you know why? CAUSE I CAN WALK BITCH!

Granted it's not very far and afterwards I pass out from exhaustion, but still! This is the biggest achievement of my whole infant life! People should really stop to appreciate how lucky they are to have the ability to walk. I mean, we've literally evolved hundreds of thousands of years just to be able to stand on our own two legs! This should be celebrated! Alright, it's decided. I shall try to venture an entire foot without falling! Just you watch gravity, today is the day I conquer you!

"Kalliope!!" David exclaimed in excitement as I pushed myself unsteadily to my feet. "Oohhhh my baby's walking! She's walking! Look at her go!" He cried to no one in particular. "Come here sweetheart, come to daddy!" He crouched down and spread his arms wide with a grin big enough to match the length of his arms. With extreme difficulty, I slowly started to toddle his way.

I'm doing it! I'm doing it! I'm walking! HA!! Take that gravity! In your FACE!I'm- My legs gave out beneath me and I faceplanted into the carpet. I'm on the floor. Well. That didn't last long. "Kalliope!!" David gave a very good imitation of Serenity's panicked shriek. He quickly scooped me off the ground and frantically checked my body for injuries. Fun fact; babies bodies are surprisingly springy.

Since becoming a baby, I've fallen off of beds more times than I can count by now but somehow never broke any bones. Of course I'm not saying they didn't hurt, cause they did, but considering the fact that I'm a baby and I haven't died by now I think it's pretty impressive how malleable this body is.

"David?" Serenity came in from the other room, having heard his scream. "Is everything alright?" He looked over at her and nodded, smiling in relief at having found no injuries. "Yes my dear. Kalliope just took a tumble while she was trying to walk is all. Thankfully the carpeting protected her, so she wasn't hurt." Her eyes softened when he said this and she smiled. "That's good. Our little one is trying to walk more and more often is she not? Before we know it we'll soon have a young lady on our hands."

David laughed and hugged me to his chest. "Not too soon I hope! I've hardly gotten to see her these last few months so it seems that every time I see her she's gotten bigger. I'd hate to miss her childhood completely," Lifting me up so we were face to face, he smiled kindly. "Since I'm here, how about you join daddy in his study? I have work to do but you can still play in there if you want."

Since he's been loaded with even more work lately, David hasn't had time to see me that much. As a result, he's started taking me to hang out in his study while he works so he could spend more time around me. Even though he can't pay attention to me while he's working, I guess he just likes the fact that I'm there for some reason. I'm not sure why but I'm not even going to pretend I understand the way a parent's mind works. But going to his study did prove to be useful. While he's working, he talks aloud about the things he's working on, and because of that I've been able to gain more insight on this world.

Thanks to this, I have undoubtedly confirmed that I am indeed in the world of "Enraptured Hearts" from the information I've learned while in David's study. I suppose if I think about it, there is the possibility of me being in some kind of crazy lucid dream or a medicine induced coma or something, but wether if that's the case or not, I can't deny the similarities I've been faced with. Too many things check out. The kingdom names, the history, the setting, there all the same! I've even seen Rafferty and Fairen! Of course their children right now and don't look like their characters from the game, but still! It's all here!

Regardless of this being reality or not, I've decided to stick to my plans of befriending the princes. If this does turn out to be a dream then there's nothing to worry about, but if it's not a dream then I can't risk it. I'll just have to bide my time patiently and wait for an opportunity to arrive for me to meet them. In the meantime I guess I'm stuck with learning how to walk again.
