Chapter 50: One Hell Of An Ending.
Sebastian and I swooned over our gorgeous daughter. She was the sweetest most gentle creature either of us had ever met.
"I hate to interrupt, but can we return to the manor? I could really use some tea and a hot bath." Ciel said, snapping us out of our daze.
Sebastian stood up and nodded.
"Yes my lord, we shall leave right away."
Leyla looked up at her tall father and raised her arms.
"Will you carry me daddy?" She asked in a sweet voice.
Sebastian's emotionless face melted with her sweet request.
"Of course I will sweetheart." He replied, picking her up and setting her on his broad shoulders.
I stood up myself and picked up her teddy bear.
"Here my love, your teddy would like to ride along with you." I said, handing my sweet daughter her stuffed bear.
She gave me a toothy grin and patted her father's head.
"Can you run fast daddy?" She asked.
"Of course I can my dear, faster than any feline." Sebastian said with a chuckle.
Leyla furrowed her small brows.
"Daddy, what's a falean?" She asked, having difficulties pronouncing the word.
Oh boy. Here we go.
"It's feline love, and they're one of daddy's favorite animals, a kitty cat." He said, putting a little too much emphasis on favorite.
Leyla giggled and turned to me.
"Mommy, can we get a kitty cat?" She asked.
I shot a glance towards Ciel.
"Well my love, it would be up to your cousin Ciel."
Leyla turned towards Ciel with a poutty face.
"Can we get a kitty cat Ciel, pleeeease?" She asked hopingly.
Ciel rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"I suppose, but it is to be kept away from me."
"Mommy." She asked. "Why does Ciel hate kittys so much?"
I let out a quiet giggle.
"He's allergic my love, they make him sick."
Leyla nodded her head and faced forward.
"Alright daddy, I'm ready. Run really really fast!" She exclaimed with excitement.
"Ahem."
I turned my head towards Ciel.
"Yes Ciel?" I asked.
He placed his hands on his hips in a sassy way.
"And I suppose I'm just going to walk all the way back to my manor?" He said dramatically.
I rolled my eyes and turned my back to him.
"Jump on Ciel, we can have ourselves a little race. But you be careful with Leyla Sebastian." I stated.
Sebastian turned his head towards the two of us.
"If I were not careful, then what kind of daddy would I be?" He said with a smirk. "Hold on my dear."
And with that he jumped out of the nearest window off into the night.
There goes my whole world, I thought to myself.
"Well are you just going to stand there and let them win?" Ciel said, nudging me in the side.
I rolled my eyes and leaped onto the window pane Sebastian had jumped out of. I looked down onto the ground and saw Sebastian's footprints in the fresh snow.
I leaped out of the window and ran as fast as I could, receiving a grunt out of the leach on my back.
In the near distance I could see Sebastian and Leyla. I picked up my pace and a few seconds later we were right on their heels.
"Daddy!" Leyla said as she turned around. "They're behind us, run faster!"
Sebastian chuckled and ran a little faster.
"You'll want to hold on tight for this Ciel." Ciel tightened his grip around my shoulders and torso.
I ran towards the nearest tree and leaped onto one of its longest branches, propelling myself directly above and then in front of Sebastian and Leyla.
I turned my head and shot them a wink, when I turned back around I noticed we were coming up on the drive way of the Phantomhive manor.
I ran along the gravel and up the stairs to the front entrance. When I reached the porch I sat Ciel down and caught my breath. By the time I was finished Sebastian and Leyla had reached the porch as well.
"Mommy! You ran faster than a kitty cat!" She exclaimed with amazement.
I reached out for her arms and pulled her into my own.
"There are a few people I would like you to meet love." I said gently.
"What peop-" Ciel was cut off.
"Ciieeelllllllll!" A loud shriek echoed through the manor.
The door swung open and out jumped a ball of frills and curls.
The ball leaped onto Ciel and tackled him to the ground.
"Euhhh, Lizzy. You're getting me filthy." Ciel whinned.
I shot him a glance.
"I-I mean, it's great to see you Elizabeth. I have missed you. Now, can we stand up?" He asked.
Lady Elizabeth giggled and pulled Ciel up. Ciel wiped his cheek dotted with kissy marks.
Lady Elizabeth notice Leyla and let out another shriek.
"Oh my, who is this precious little thing!" She said while puffing her cheeks.
Leyla giggled and gripped tighter onto her teddy.
"Lady Elizabeth, I would like you to meet Leyla, our daughter." I said.
Elizabeth clasped her hands together with joy.
"I didn't know you had a child, especially one this adorable! She's so cute I could just eat her up!" She exclaimed.
Leyla giggled again. Sebastian opened the front door and gestured all of us into the manor.
When we stepped in, we heard a number of footsteps running down the hall.
"Who is here Eva?" Ciel asked.
"Well Ciel, we have a little surprise of our own for you." Just as I got the words out of my mouth, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Vincent, and Alucard ran into the lobby where we were all standing.
Ciel looked between his parents and went completely still. His faced turned pale and his eyes were as big as the moon.
Rachel and Vincent walked to about a foot in front of Ciel.
"C-ciel? It's us dear. We're alive, we're here." Aunt Rachel said.
Sebastian walked in front of Ciel and waved his hand in front of his face.
"Young master, are you alright? It is your parents my lord." He said.
Ciel slowly opened his mouth.
"M-mother, f-father? Is that really y-you?" He asked unbelievably.
Rachel and Vincent both nodded their heads.
"Yes Ciel, it's us." Vincent stated.
Ciel ran to his parents with his arms outstretched.
"Oh Ciel, we have missed you oh so much my dear." Rachel cried into her sons shoulder.
I suddenly felt a light tap on my shoulder, by a white glove.
"Are you going to introduce me to the little blood drinker?" Alucard said with a chuckle.
I turned around to him.
"What do you mean by 'blood drinker'?" I asked.
"Is this your daughter?" He asked.
I nodded my head.
"Well, Eva, you're daughter is a full blood vampire." Alucard said with a grin.
"What? How do you know? I figured if anything she would be a demon, considering Sebastian is a pure blood and I'm a half blood." I said confusingly.
Alucard chuckled again.
"Have you forgotten I'm the King of Vampires? Of course I can identify my own species when I see them." He said.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Leyla, this is Alucard. He's a very close friend of mommy and daddy." I said.
Alucard grabbed her small pale hand in his large gloved one.
"You can call me Uncle Aly, Leyla. It is a pleasure to meet you." Alucard said as he placed a kiss on the top of her hand.
Leyla giggled and hid her face with her teddy.
"Mommy." Leyla said. "Who are those people hugging cousin Ciel?"
Rachel and Vincent looked up from their embrace at Leyla. Ciel stood up between them.
"Mother, father, this is Leyla, your niece." Ciel gestured towards the child in my arms.
I sat Leyla down on the floor and she looked back at me.
"This is your Aunt Rachel and Uncle Vincent. They are Ciel's parents my dear." I said as I patted her shoulder.
She walked towards them bashfully. They kneeled in front of her and each took one of her small hands.
"Hello sweetheart, it is a pleasure to meet you." Vincent said sweetly.
Leyla noticed the scar on both of their faces. She laid her hand on Uncle Vincent's cheek and placed a soft kiss on the pertruding mark.
Uncle Vincent placed his hand over her small one and smiled. She turned to Aunt Rachel and placed a delicate kiss on her face as well.
"You are both very very pretty." She said sweetly as she gave them a small hug.
When she was finished she ran back to me and wrapped her small arms around my legs.
Ciel cleared his throat and began to speak. Everyone gave their attention to him.
"I can not even begin to express how grateful and happy I am right now. I do not know how any of this is possible." He said glancing towards his parents. "But, I do not even care to know because I have you back, all of you. This is truly the best day of my life, even if it started off the total opposite, but it's quite alright. It's in the past. We have no need for the past. All we need are the present and the future, and I am certain all of you are the ones I would like to spend my future with."
I took this moment to capture a long look over my family. Even if some aren't blood, like Alucard, the rest of the Hellsing orginization, Undertaker, Elizabeth, or the staff at the manor, these are the people I want to spend my eternity with. That is a future that I need.
Maybe that is what I have become this whole time, part of a family. Part of something that's bigger than me or Sebastian. Bigger than a demon, a vampire, or even a reaper. Bigger than a maid at the manor or bigger than Claude and Hannah. I have become part of a future where I am no longer alone.
I am part of one hell of a future.
