Chapter 44: The Giant In A Giants World.
"Love, it is time to wake up."
I slowly opened my eyes to see Sebastian gently shaking me.
I suddenly remembered the ball and shot straight up from bed.
"Love, are you alright?" Sebastian asked.
"The ball! What time is it?" I asked excitedly.
He chuckled and pulled out his pocket watch.
"It is five p.m. love. You have plenty of time to prepare yourself."
I quickly got out of bed and headed for the door.
"Where are you going my dear?" He asked.
I grabbed his wrist and pulled him with me.
"We have to prepare the manor."
"I have taken care of it love. No need to worry." He said while pulling me back.
"Why did you not wake me?" I asked, feeling a little guilty.
He placed a soft kiss on the top of my hand.
"You looked so peaceful, I did not want to ruin it my dear." He said in a soft tone.
He placed a loving hand on my cheek, I melted into his touch.
"Sebastian I lo-" I was cut off by a loud bang.
Sebastian and I looked at each other and stood up. We left the room and rushed to find Ciel.
When we reached his study, he was gone.
I ran to the window and heard crunching beneath my feet. I looked down to see shards of window crumble under my shoes.
I fearfully returned my attention to the curtain and pulled it back, revealing my suspicions to be correct. The window was completely shattered and Ciel was gone.
I turned to find Sebastian in shock, clutching a letter.
I walked towards him and waved my hand in front of his face.
"Sebastian? What is it?" I asked.
He slowly handed me the small piece of white paper.
I began to read the letter.
"Sebastian and Eva, I would like to formally thank you for miserably attempting to end me. What you do not know is that you both have failed. I am alive and I have your beloved master. If you wish to receive him back alive and well, I suggest you do as I say. My first order is for the two of you to meet with me at the Trancy manor tonight at eleven p.m. sharp, with Anna. We will discuss my next orders when we meet.
Do not try anything for I have planned around any possible capture you have thought of. The manor is alarmed with traps of every kind imaginable. I expect to see the three of you there.
-Claude."
When I was finished reading the letter, I let it slip from my hands and fall to the ground.
I slowly fell to my knees and looked up to Sebastian.
"S-sebastian there's no w-way. It's impossible."
Sebastian looked down at me and slowly shook his head.
"You killed him Eva, I saw it. He was lifeless, even for a demon. He was gone." Sebastian said unnerving.
What does he want with him? Revenge maybe? But it doesn't make any sense, and why does he want Anna. She has nothing to do with this.
I slowly stood back up and walked towards the window. I looked down the see an unfamiliar carriage stroll up.
The damned ball! I quickly turned to Sebastian who was still in mid shock.
"Sebastian the ball, what do we do?" I asked feeling helpless.
Sebastian finally regained his composure and look up at me.
"Alright love, obviously we can not cancel the plans for the evening, we will have to keep the guests entertained until eleven. I shall speak with the other servants and inform them on the situation, you need to keep Lady Elizabeth busy with something." He stated.
I slowly processed this and nodded my head.
"Alright, I shall go greet the guests." I replied.
We both nodded to each other and left for our duties.
I made my way down the stairs and to the entrance, rearranging small things here and there.
When I arrived at the door, I slowly opened it to reveal an older male about the age of twenty seven. He had black hair in medium length and stunning blue yes. Escorting him, was an older female around the same age with long redish brown hair that curled at the bottom, her eyes were also an electrifying blue.
The man was tall and wore an olive green suit with a red tie. The woman was a little smaller and she wore a stunning light pink gown with white hemming and white elbow length gloves. They both wore a scar on their face that stretched from their forehead to the bottom of their left cheek.
Something about the couple seemed familiar, but I could not place what it was.
I shook the thought from my head and bowed before them.
"Good evening, and may I welcome you to the Phantomhive manor. My name is Eva Glover and I will be serving you for the evening. Please, follow me."
They both nodded. I began to escort them to the ball room, which I was hoping was prepared.
When we reached the room, I slowly opened the door to reveal soft music playing quietly by a small orchestra in the back of the room.
I looked around the room to see Sebastian standing along side of the refreshment table, he wore a soft smirk on his face.
I turned to the couple and bowed to them, allowing them to do as they please.
They both nodded once more and headed to the middle of the room.
I slowly made my way over to where Sebastian stood. When I got there, I looked up at the sneaky demon.
"Sebastian, how did you manage to get all of this done in a matter of minutes?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
His smirk grew wider.
"My dear, if I could not pull this off then what kind of butler would I be?"
I playfully rolled my eyes and nodded my head towards the couple.
"Sebastian what is so familiar about the two of them? They have not spoken a word, not even to each other." I asked.
He furrowed his brows and looked at the couple. They stood completely still, catching a glimpse of the scenery every now and then.
He returned his attention back to me and lightly shrugged his shoulders.
"I do not know my dear, but perhaps we shall find out." He said with a devious grin.
