Chapter 23: The Funeral.

(Eva/your POV)

"Are you almost ready love?" Sebastian said, poking his head through my bathroom door.

"Yes dear, give me five minutes." I said while applying a small amount of ruby red lipstick.

"Alright, I shall be downstairs when you are finished." He blew me a kiss, which I happily accepted, and closed the door.

I looked into the mirror and sat my headband in the center of my head. When I was finished I returned to my room and slid on my shoes.

I walked by the full length mirror and caught a glimpse of my, now larger, swollen abdomen. It's only been over a few days past a week. How much bigger am I going to get?

I shook the thought from my head and made my way down the stairs. When I reached the bottom everyone was already there, waiting on me.

Sebastian walked over towards me and snaked his arm into mine. I glanced between Sebastian and Ciel, they both had their hair styled in a slicked back way. They both looked very handsome.

"You look stunning my dear." I blushed, but quickly lowered my head and frowned remembering the occasion. "Thank you, love."

He seemed to notice my sudden change of emotion. He pulled my chin up with his index finger.

"I know today will be quite hard, but I imagine you will get through this love. You are a truly strong woman."

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pecked his lips. "Thank you Sebastian. I will try and remember that."

He wrapped his arms around my waist and placed a soft kiss on my forehead. "I will be right beside you, the whole time."

I nodded and placed a small, passionate kiss on his cold lips.

"Ehem." Ciel cleared his throat in annoyance. "Are you two done?"

We both nodded. Sebastian bowed. "Sorry sir, are we ready to take our leave?"

Ciel nodded. "Yes, I believe so."

We got in the carriage and headed for the church. Much like the ride yesterday, it was filled with depressing sadness. When we arrived at the church, we took our seats in the front.

There were many people already there, some I have never seen before in my life, paying their respects.

Sebastian was seated beside me and Ciel on the other, with Elizabeth beside him. The church bells rang, signifying that it was time to begin.

The preacher walked up to the podium. "Ladies and gentlemen. We are gathered here today to pay our respects to an extraordinary person. Spencer Glover was a noble and kind man. He helped anyone in need. He spent his days caring for his late wife Edith Glover and his daughter Eva. He served for her majesty protecting the citizens against evil. Now he spends his time in gods kingdom in heaven. Now, his daughter has prepared a speech. Mrs. Glover, if you will."

I wiped the tears from my face and stood up. Sebastian placed a hand on my shoulder. "Be strong love."

I nodded and walked to the podium and cleared my throat.
"Thank you all for being here today. My father was a charming, caring man. He cared for mother and I so passionately. He always took care of us and gave us everything we ever needed or wanted. He was a very giving man. He gave all of the time and never expected anything in return. In his time of work for her majesty he put his life on the line for complete strangers. He cared for his career greatly and loved every day of it. I commend him on being an extraordinary man, father, and husband."

The tears were far past rolling now. I wiped them away and cleared my throat once again.

"My father will be greatly missed from everyone he has touched with his life. He will be greatly missed for his kind actions. For his bravery. For his honesty. For his love. For all the memories we shared when I was a small child. He will be greatly missed by me, by his nephew, by his grandchild, and by his friends. Thank you."

The preacher patted me on the shoulder and I returned to my seat. "Thank you Eva, those words were beautiful."

When I sat down Sebastian wrapped his arm around my shoulder and placed his hand in my own. I nodded at the preacher.

"Now, let us pray." We all bowed our heads. (Author- I'm not a very religious person, so sorry if I'm not good at this.)

"Our father who art thou in heaven. Bless your children so their hearts will know happiness. Bless them so they no longer ache. Bless Spencer Glovers heart and accept him into your eternal kingdom. Relieve this man from his pain. Amen."

Everyone raised their heads up. "Thank you everyone for coming. Please come by and pay your respects. We will continue this at the cemetery outside."

Everyone stood up and walked to the casket and laid roses inside. I walked up, squeezing Sebastians hand.

I looked down at his lifeless form. He was so handsome, yet paler than usual. No sign of life on his face. I leaned down and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.

"Goodbye father. We will never forget you. Thank you for all you have ever done for us."

Sebastian turned me around and held me tight. I burried my face in his chest and sobbed like a child. He cooed in my ear.

"Shhhhh, it is alright love. He is resting now. He no longer feels pain."

I raised my head and looked into his ruby red eyes. They were so gorgeous and full of life. They reminded me so much of fathers.

"I know, and thank you for the kind words. They help, a lot."

He wiped my tears away and kissed my forehead.

"Come love, let us make our way outside." I nodded and took his hand.

We made our way outside, and of course it had to be raining. Sebastian grabbed an umbrella and held it above us h He led us over to the plot.

The Paul bearers, which consisted of Finny, Bard, Tanaka, and Ciel, held up the casket and walked over to the grave and carefully sat it down.

When they were finished they took their spots in the crowd. The preacher started to speak once more.

"We bury this man with respect. With gratitude, and with grace. He will forever live in our hearts and minds. He will never be forgotten."

The Undertaker slowly lowered the coffin into the ground. When he was finished he took a step back. Ciel and I walked up to the grave and collected a handful of dirt. We tossed it on top of the occupied coffin.

When we were finished we returned to our spots. The Undertaker gently shoveled the rest of the dirt back in its original place.

Sebastian snaked his arm around my waist and held me close. Ciel turned to us.

"Are you alright Eva?" I slowly nodded.

"Yes, I suppose so." Sebastian let go of my waist and Ciel embraced me.

"Everything will be alright. It will take time to heal the pain. But one day your mourning will no longer linger, but the memories will remain. You are a very strong person. We will both get through this."

He pulled away. "Thank you Ciel. At least I have the two of you. And until the day comes that I no longer do, I will be happy, and I will never let anything stand in my way."

Sebastian kissed my forehead and grabbed my hand. "Are you ready love?"

I nodded. "Yes. Let's go home."
