Y/n's POV

My birthday, well it is today and I'm celebrating with regulus just the two of us. Plus Agatha I insisted she join because she's been nothing but special to me more recently too. I still had six days to decide if I really didn't want to attend Hogwarts any longer. And so far with no contact from the people I once called family well I'm sticking with not going back. As painful as it will be to not have a mate, not have friends and not have that bond I know it's what needed to be done.

"Is there anything in particular you'd like to do today?" Regulus asked

"I'm just wanting to read for a while I'll see if anything else comes to mind" I said

"Well happy birthday kiddo" he said and kissed the top of my head before I left to my room

It sucked, it sucked to have no one to celebrate with i could feel the sadness in my heart the tug that came with not being near Matteo. I had come to terms with him being away or that he was my mate, but I knew he didn't want me that way. At least that's how it feels considering he's not here on my fucking birthday, then again nor are my other friends. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt nothing, I mean I felt angry but there was an emptiness to my eyes that I didn't recognize. I wasn't myself and I doubt I'd ever be myself again without them. I wasn't considering things that I never imagined considering before. Like if I'd be better off dead, I didn't want regulus to miss out of my life but what life was there anymore.

I couldn't answer that as I sat on the bedroom floor and cried alone with a book in my hand. I didn't know how they were doing, if they were alright or if they even cared I was gone. One thing was for sure, I wasn't going to trust easily ever again.

Matteo's POV

I knew I had to see her, but her mind was blocking me and it pained me. Today was her birthday and we couldn't see her all because of me.

"Brother" tom said entering the room

"What?" I hissed

"I found a secret way to get to her" pansy said with excitement

"What when?" I asked standing

"A few hours ago, come on there's still time left to sneak out before it's too late and we miss her birthday" Daphne said giggling as her and pansy rushed off

I quickly followed them around the castle and into a dark hallway where a secret door was waiting. We entered and found a fireplace with her family crest on the wall, I smiled widely and grabbed the floo powered and so did the others before traveling to her.

Y/n's POV

I was alone in my room when I heard coughing coming from my fireplace and panicked. I looked up and my eyes connected with theirs, scanning the group eventually they landed on Matteo's. My heart skipped as the bond settled in and he knew it too as he smiled widely before taking a step forward.

"What do you people want" I hissed

"Happy birthday" pansy squealed and handed me a present

"No thanks" I said and didn't grab it

"Y/n please" Matteo said with pain in his tone

"Let's let them chat" I heard tom say

I didn't turn to face Matteo but heard his feet shuffling closer before I could smell him now.

"It's not what you thought" he began

"What part, you not wanting me or the part where I'm not good enough for you" I hissed

"Who told you that?" He asked confused

"You kept yourself away from me, you didn't want me to know about the bond and then you" I growled in anger

"Princess" he said gently

"Don't princess me" I growled

But before I realized it he had my back pinned to the wall and he was inches from my face now.

"No, now your going to listen to me do you understand" he said darkly

I gulped and nodded feeling a new found hunger inside for him.

"Use your words" he said

"Yes sir" I said

"Good, I never thought I'd find the perfect match, never thought I'd find someone so beautiful as you are, I never thought I'd find someone so open to being with me even with who my father was so when you figured it out I was happy not upset I was nervous you wouldn't want me the way I want and need you so I kept it a secret but I got jealous that you were talking to others that had clear intentions to fuck you and then ditch you so I threatened them which I now see wasn't the best way to go about things" he began
