The Recap

Y/N wakes up in a field hospital, above him are his last 2 remaining squad mates and Dr Edward Richthofen (Yeah that Dr. Richthofen)

Portal technology from Y/N's Antarctic base was also functional in an Arctic base under Richthofen, and now they've evacuated what remained of the German Army to Remnant, how they got all of them up to the Arctic is anyone's guess.

Richthofen also has cloning technology that can also somehow clone both living and non-living material. This was a pretty lazy way of solving any supply problems that would have come up with having an army in a completely different dimension with equipment that couldn't be produced anywhere in the world.

They are also on a completely fictional continent that helps to 'keep their existence a secret' when it's still revealed only a few chapters later.

I don't know who became Führer in this Neudeutschland, but I think it was either Goering or Hermann Fegelein.

Y/N and his group are then sent to Menagerie to establish an alliance with the Faunus even though the Nazis would have probably found them deplorable. This results in them beginning an alliance with Sienna Khan and the White Fang and later killing Adam Taurus in an ambush.

Also I vividly remember that while Y/N was meeting with her, his men sing the 'In Der Fuhrer's Face' song, an anti-Nazi tune featured in the Disney cartoon 'Donald Duck Der Nazi', and this contradiction seemed to fly over a few people's heads. Don't worry, it also flew over mine.

Somehow, Y/N and his men learn about the ongoing White Fang attack on Haven Academy. This wasn't the half-assed lame attempt we saw in Volume 4, but an actual war in Mistral's capital city between militia, huntsmen and huntresses, and the White Fang.

So the Germans somehow get all the way to Mistral even though they currently have no naval units or transportation, and once they get there they reunite with Team RWBY and JNR. Though they also start a recruitment campaign for a Volkssturm Regiment to help them defend the city against the next White Fang attack.

Winter Schnee also witnessed the majesty of the Stuka dove bomber when it obliterated a Paladin, and dumbstruck by their technology like it's GATE or something. And of course they completely annihilated the White Fang, which catches the attention of the Atlas military which is now aware of a rival military power emerging in Remnant.

In order to weaken the Germans, Ironwood tells them to take back the entire continent of Vale back from the Grimm, and the Germans now have about 15 Divisions because of Richthofen's OP cloning machine. The reason for Ironwood's rationale is because he believes that this campaign will weaken the Germans and keep Atlas as the dominant military power in the world.

This backfires, of course, and the Germans are seen as liberators by the people of Vale, and Vale now becomes their puppet state.

Was this a entire entry in the series a heavily contrived way to give Germany an entire Empire in about a few weeks to a month? Yeah. Is the premise funny looking back at it? Totally.

And the books probably ends there, with Atlas gathering Remnant's remaining Kingdoms to form an Alliance against the emerging Reich, which is the plot of the third book. I don't really remember much else, but that's what I can recall. Maybe there are a few really strange romantic scenes between Waffen-SS Officer Y/N and Ruby but I washed my mind of those, and probably for good reasons.

Happy New Year.
