Chapter 7

"H-Huh?! What the fuck is wrong with you?" A male yelled, hearing the girl's request.

"I'll explain... but can I come in first?" The girl asked. Jax nodded and moved out of the doorway to let the girl in, he noticed she had a bag with her to.

She sighed and sat on the couch and he closed the door.

"Okay, so what's up?" Jax asked. "I haven't seen you in a couple of weeks and now all of a sudden you want to stay for the night. And isn't that a bit odd since y'know I'm like 20?!" He says. "You aren't worried about the kind of shit I could do?"

"No. I'm not. You wouldn't lie and I know you wouldn't do anything bad to me. I remember when I asked if you did anything to me you yourself freaked out and said you wouldn't think of it and that you're a 'respectable male adult' am I correct?" Skye says.

Jax sighed and nodded. "Yeah you're right. I couldn't do shit like that... anyways what's with the question and you coming here out of the blue?" Skye glanced up at him, he noticed that her eyes were more dull than before and there was... a mark on her face, it was a faded red, but it represented a hand mark. He stepped a bit closer to her to examine it. "Don't tell me..."

"Yeah... my father... he hit me..." She mumbles.

"Damn... he got you good too..." Jax said. "Does it sting at all?"

"It did... but I'm fine. It doesn't bother me." Skye gave him a weak smile. "It's strange... it feels like I've felt this pain once before too..."

"How can you be so calm about this?" Jax says. 'Why am I saying this when I would act the same way...?' He thought.

"If it will make you feel better I'll put ice on it." She says.

"Alright. I'll get it for you." He says, going into the kitchen and getting a bag of ice.

'It's so weird... she said she had a good family, but then out of the blue her dad just goes and hits her... unless... she lied to me.' The thought made Jax want to punch himself, did his first true friend lie to him? Even after he told her he hated liars.

Once he finished filling a small plastic bag with ice he walked back over to the couch and placed the bag in her hand and sat next to her.

"Hey Skye..." Jax mumbled.

"Hmm?" She glanced at him.

"Did you lie to me?" He asked.

"No. I wouldn't lie to you. I wouldn't want you to hate me. We're friends... why would you think that?" Skye asked.

"Because... you said that your family was fine. But it seems strange that out of the blue your father just goes and hits you." Jax says.

Skye glanced at the floor. "Yeah... I was thinking the same thing..."

"So you have no clue why this happened?" Jax raised an eyebrow.

"Well maybe I do... I'm not sure... my family was fine and then all of a sudden a few weeks ago my parents started fighting and it got to the point to where the neighbors complained to authorities... Ah! Y-You probably don't care about that part though!" Skye says.

"If I didn't I would've stopped listening. But I didn't. What happened after that?" Jax asked her.

"Well this man... I had met him a few weeks before he came to my house earlier... he was like a counselor. He was asking Eliza and I questions on our parents... and how they were acting... I lied..." She mumbles the last part.

"You lied so your parents wouldn't harm you right?" Jax asked. Skye nodded. "Look where that got you."

"Do you hate me now?" Skye asked him.

"No, I don't. I hate liars... but for some reason. I don't mind you." Jax smirked a bit. "... it's probably because you didn't actually lie to me.."

"I see... hey Jax..." Skye mumbles.

"Yeah? What is it?" He asked.

"You never answered my question. Can I stay here for the night...?" Skye asked, thinking over her question now, she's a bit embarrassed.

Jax sighed. "Let's see how the day goes... but since what you just told me happened at your house, I'm fine with it at the moment."

"Alright..." Skye answered plainly.

"Hey... you lied so your parents wouldn't harm you right? But you ended up being harmed. What the fuck is up with that?" The male asked.

"I think Dr. Morgan might've figured out I was lying and said something to my father that he seemed to... dislike." Skye mutters.

"Dr. Morgan? That's the name of the bastard who came to your house huh?" Jax says.

"Yeah. You know him?" Skye raised an eyebrow, she assumed he didn't get out much, so it'd be strange if he did know the doctor.

"No... Just thinking aloud..." The black haired man said.

"Oh alright. Anyways your place is still quite a mess from last time so maybe we should finish cleaning up." The blonde says, standing up.

"Mhm... Hey... Skye." Jax mumbles.

"Yeah? What's up?" The girl asked.

"Are we seriously just not going to talk about what happened last time?" The male said. Skye knew exactly what he was talking about, she was hoping they wouldn't talk about it and they could just be 'casual' friends again.

"I don't really want to... but I know we really should." She says, sitting back down next to him.

"Did I do or say something that made you upset?" Jax asked, not looking at her.

"No... to be honest... I don't know why I cried... I didn't even know I was crying." Skye mutters, looking at the ceiling. "Heh... you probably think I'm weird right?"

"Since I've met you, you've been weird." Jax muttered with a chuckle, which only caused a glare from Skye. "But seriously, I thought I upset you for some reason... you made me feel like shit since you left." He joked.

"Sorry. But I could say the same. I thought you wouldn't want me to come back... but now here we are..." Skye says with a smile. "And even though we've known each other for a short time, you're my friend so I think it's safe to say... I... missed you." Skye felt a bit embarrassed saying it and felt some heat rise to her face.

Just listening to what she said made the male next to her have the same reaction. "Really now?" He chuckled.

"I-I mean... umm I know it's dumb to say, but ever since we've met I felt like... we've been close for some reason, I've had a better connection with you than anyone else." Skye rambled before sighing. "N-Never mind, you're right. I'm weird."

"Yeah. You're really weird." Jax said plainly and ruffled her blonde hair. "But, same goes for me. Out of all the people I've met and talked to you've gotten closer to me than anyone else ever has."

"Really?" Skye said surprised.

"Yup... I really dislike talking to people, I'm only 'close' with two, and that includes you... and the other guy annoys me-"

"Is the other guy the 'old man' you mentioned before?" Skye asked.

"I hate that you're smart." Jax mumbles.

"That's just one of my many perks." Skye says.

"Shut it brat." Jax says and bonks her head.

Skye just chuckled and stood up again. "Okay, lets get this place clean before my OCD really kicks in." She says, which caused Jax to roll his eyes and stand up as well.

~

"Well it looks like we're done." Skye says with a smile.

"That was a big waste of time, it's already dark out." Jax whined. "But... thanks anyways, it would've taken longer if I didn't have you to help."

"Me being helpful is another perk of mine." This got her another bonk on the head. "Are you trying to give me brain damage?" She asked the male.

"Maybe." He smirked, which caused a pout from Skye. "I'm kidding." He says, ruffling her hair to make up for it. "Anyways it's late, we need sleep. I'll take the couch and you can have my room."

"Huh? But I'm the guest. I should take the couch." Skye says.

"Yeah, but I'm not a scumbag, so I'll let you have the bed." Jax says.

It took a few moments of arguing before Skye blurted. "Why don't we both just take the bed." They both then went quiet to process what she just said.

"I-I mean-"

"Y-You're the one who accuses me of doing a bunch of perverted, creepy shit and you go and say that you little weird brat!" Jax shouted, he was also embarrassed by what she just said.

"I-I didn't mean that! It just came out!" Skye says, a bright blush was obviously seen on her face.

Jax sighed, a blush was apparent on his face too. "I-I'll just take the couch and that answers that, don't fight my statement."

"O-Okay..." The girl said, now it just became awkward. "I-I guess it's good night then..."

"Y-Yeah, see ya in the morning brat." Jax mumbles.

Skye grabbed her bag and walked towards, what she assumed was the man's bedroom. 'I just screwed the conversation up again!' The girl thought. As she walked to the room she noticed a door to the left of it.

'It's just a regular room... why does it give me an odd feeling?' Skye thought to herself. 'I guess I'll ask Jax what's in there in the morning.' She shrugged off all her thoughts on the strange room and walked into his room.

She laid her bag down on the nightstand and laid on the bed. 'It's comfy... and warm...' The girl thought.

The long day sure had gotten to her as she immediately closed her eyes and fell asleep.
