Chapter 6

About a week or two had passed since Skye had seen Jax since that "awkward" end of their last meeting.

"What should I do now...?" Skye mumbles, lying on her bed. She had finished everything she needed to do and there was still daylight left. Her parents weren't "fighting" today so there was no need to sneak out. Even if she did where would she go?

Since that awkwardness with Jax ended she felt unmotivated to go back. He probably thought she was weird for crying at a single question. And she didn't even know why she had cried in the first place.

"I'm an idiot..." She muttered to herself.

"Skye get the door!" She heard her mother yell, that had snapped her out of her depressed daze. She didn't even hear the door until after her mother's demand.

"Okay!" She said leaving the room and heading to the front of the house.

She calmly opened the door. Only to see a familiar face. "Oh... it's you?" She said a bit surprised, it was the male with olive green hair. Dr. Morgan if she remembered correctly.

"Oh hello Miss Skye. It's been a while." The male said with a grin. "May I come in?" He asked.

"Umm sure?" Skye mumbles, moving out of the doorway. When she did she felt two hands lightly grab the back of her shirt. The blonde noticed her sister was behind her was there, with a look of uneasiness.

"Oh and hello Miss Eliza..." The male said, glancing at the younger girl, he smiled at her. But both Eliza and the doctor knew his smile was false.

"Well what can we do for you?" Skye asked the male.

"Well your neighbor's sent complaints to the police stations nearby and I heard that there were children living here and so I decided to see if the children were safe in their home. It's kind of my job." The man smiled.

"Oh. I see." The older girl nodded. "Well we're fine. Right Eliza?" She glanced at her sister.

The younger sister hesitated but nodded. "Yeah..." She says.

"Well I would still like to have a talk with your guardians." The Doctor said.

"Right. I'll get my parents. Please make yourself at home." Skye said with a small smile before leaving the room.

Dr. Morgan glanced at the younger sister, he noticed Eliza was glaring at him, which caused him to smirk a bit... it seems she didn't like him just like he didn't like her.

'He's up to something... he's going to do something to Skye...'

'The little pest is going to get in the way of me getting the ideal eyes... it seems she figured out I'm not here to 'play nice' but that doesn't matter. I'll get rid of her.'

"What is it this time..." An older woman was talking to her older daughter quite loudly until she noticed a man in her kitchen. "Oh hello." She says with a 'genuine' smile. "What can I help you with?"

'It seems the woman is faking her emotions.' The doctor noticed. "Well I am here because I heard some complaints from your neighbors about loud, disturbing noises."

"Loud and disturbing noises?" The mother said, trying to act innocent. "It must've been from somewhere else. We're a good family, right girls?" The mother looked at her daughter's a bit of a glare in her eyes as she wanted them to lie like her.

"Yeah... right." The daughters said in unison.

"I see. Then can I get your husband's take on this?" The doctor asked.

"I'm afraid he's resting at the moment-" The mother got cut off by a yell.

"Who the hell is it?! I have a headache and hearing the doorbell and your yelling is only making it...worse..." The man quieted his tone, noticing the other male that was also in his home. "Who is this? Another man you're just using for your own pleasures?!" The man yelled at his wife.

"A good family, huh...?" The male muttered with a small smirk, writing something down on a piece of paper. "And no sir, I am not some male prostitute. I am a doctor that works for a 'high in the charts' institution. I work with people that are having mental issues or possible issues at home. And it seems that your daughters are those types of people."

"Tch, you really think I'll just let you come into my home and claim things about my family?!" The father yelled at the man. "I'm an officer and I can have you thrown out of here in a split second!" The male said.

"Do you really think you have the authority to do so?" Dr. Morgan smirked. "My institution works for the state. So it seems I'm your superior." He says.

"Tch, will you just leave, my house and family is just fine." The father mutters furiously.

"I'll be out of your hair in a moment, let me just talk with your children about their opinions on this household and how it runs." The doctor says. "Now girls is there a quiet place we can talk and you both can answer a few questions?"

"Yes. The study is quiet. It's barely ever used as well." Skye answered bluntly.

"I see. Do you mind showing me where that is?" The doctor asked. Neither of the girls answered verbally, Eliza just walked off in the direction, while the father grabbed Skye by the arm when the Doctor was far enough away.

"Don't you dare say anything about what's really going on here. If you say the truth there will be hell to pay. Tell the brat that to." The father threatened with a whispered tone.

"I would never want that. I was going to lie in the first place." Skye whispered, her eyes darker than before as she stared right at her father before walking off.

"Now girls, I want you to answer some of my questions." The doctor says. "First, have your parents been treating you well."

"Yes. They have." Skye answered bluntly.

"Is that so? No hitting, punching, making you 'uncomfortable' or threatening either of you?" The male asked.

"No." Both girls answered.

"I see... do they treat each other well?" The male asked, Eliza stayed quiet, as if she didn't want to answer or didn't know how to.

"No sir. They've been good to each other. We're a good family." Skye says, staring him right in the eye.

"I see." The male said. 'Her eyes are darker than before... that must mean her lies and family are slowly bringing her into a state of depression and loneliness, I must keep her that way.' He thought to himself.

"So have they yelled at or harmed one another?" The doctor asked.

"No sir. They're fine to each other." Skye says.

"Is that correct? Then what just happened a few moments ago?" The doctor smirked.

"Don't all families yell at some point? It happens to all husbands and wives and you know I'm correct." Skye said bluntly.

"My, you sure are serious and blunt Miss Skye. But you are right... no family is perfect." The doctor says.

"Are we done here?" Eliza said. "Our family is fine. You heard Skye and I say so. So you can leave now." The young girl said.

Skye was a bit surprised at how blunt her sister was being. "Eh, Eliza don't be rude."

The male chuckled a bit. "It's alright. This happens more than you'd think. And yes, I am done." The man stood up. "I believe I'll talk to your parents for a moment and then take my leave."

As the three walked out of the study they saw the parents standing close by. "Excuse me, sir, mam. I'd like to say a few words to you before I leave."

The doctor went up to the man and woman and said some things quietly so the daughters would not hear.

"Well then. Now that I've said what I've needed to I shall leave." The male smirked and headed towards the door. "Oh and Miss Skye, Miss Eliza." The young girls looked at him. "I'll see you girls in a month to check up on you both." He then left, shutting the door behind him.

Once the family heard the sounds of the man's feet leave the doorsteps the father glared at his children. "What did you say to him?!" The man yelled.

Skye protectively put an arm in front of her sister and placed the girl behind her before speaking. "Everything we said were good things, nothing that should've gotten either of you in trouble."

"Do you seriously think you can lie to me you little bitch?" The father said before slapping his oldest daughter across the face.

"You damn idiot! Now look what you did, if those people of the state come back they'll see that damn bruise!" The mother shouted, more concerned about getting in trouble than her own daughter's wellbeing.

Eliza seemed to be the only one to care. "Skye? Skye, are you okay?" She softly asked. While their parents were distracted Skye didn't say anything, she just grabbed her sister by the hand and practically dragged her sister upstairs.

"Skye?" Eliza worriedly said again.

"Go to your room. Lock the door. And don't let anyone in until you know it's me, or until you know it's safe." Skye demanded.

"Huh...? But what about you?" Eliza said, a bit confused.

"...I'm going somewhere for a bit." Skye said.

Without another question Eliza had ran into her room and locked the door. Skye walked into her room with a sad smile and packed a placed a few things into a pull-string bag, including another bag, this one was a small black one.

'I need to get away right now... somewhere safe.'

~

The blonde had ran to a familiar apartment and frantically knocked on the door, she seemed nervous or worried, maybe both.

A male had opened the door and looked at her a bit surprised. "Skye?"

"Please let me stay here for the night!"
