Chapter 10

It's now been a year since Skye and Jax have met and they've now been closer than ever.

Skye has been at Jax's place more and more ever since she's had the key to it. She'd sometimes be there when he wasn't home and just wait for him, although it did startle him most of of the time.

Even now she's at his place, but Jax's isn't very happy at the moment.

"Why the hell is with the people at your school?!" Jax shouted, looking at Skye, who came to his apartment after school.

She got a new uniform and the top is a bit short, since it shows her whole stomach.

"I guess the budget was a bit short this year..." Skye mutters. "It's not a big deal though."

"Not a big deal?! Do you know how much perverts are going to try and 'grab that'?!" Jax shouts.

"You're acting like a mother, calm down." Skye mumbles. "And I can handle myself."

"Fine. But don't blame me when someone tries something." Jax says. He then thought of something. "Wait, hold on."

The male left the room and Skye got really confused on what he meant. She's also confused on why he's getting so worked up over this, it's just a uniform...

"Okay. I'm back." He says, he had one of his hoodies with him, which only left him more confused.

"What's that for-"

"Arms out." He demanded. Skye, still confused, slowly put her arms out.

Jax then tied the hoodie around her waist and smirked when finished. "Okay, you're good."

Skye rolled her eyes and untied the hoodie, she then handed it back to him. "Jax, you know you overthink too much..." she muttered.

"So what? It's probably better that way." He mumbled.

"Listen, I'll be fine. I was fine today, and I'll be fine tomorrow." Skye says. "And besides no one notices me in school and hardly anyone notices me outside of school, so I don't think I have to worry about much."

Jax was about to retort, but he ended up just sighing. "Fine, but like I said, don't blame me if someone tries to do something to you."

"I'll just use my slingshot then." Skye said.

"Your what?" The male muttered, confused.

Skye then pulled a small stick with a rubber band attached to it. "Do you have a piece of paper?" She asked.

"Uh, let me check..." He mumbled. He went into the kitchen and grabbed a napkin. "Does this work?"

"Yup!" She smirked, balling it up. She put the paper on the rubber band and slowly pulled it back. She was aiming for the wall but after a split second she shot it at Jax, hitting him in the forehead.

"Hey!" He says. "What the hell was that for?!"

"To show you my good aim~" She smirked with a small giggle.

"Good aim my ass." He grumbled.

"You're lucky it wasn't a rock." She says.

"Tch, brat."

Though they were having fun over at Jax's place, Skye completely forgot something was going on at her own.

One of the meetings with Dr. Morgan.

Now it was just him and Eliza sitting alone in the study.

Eliza was mentally yelling at Skye to hurry up her meeting with Jax and get her butt back home.

On the other side of the room, Dr. Morgan was mentally sighing to himself. Of course the one girl that wasn't absent was the brat he didn't like. Why couldn't it be Skye? Her and her perfect peepers...

The doctor gave Eliza a small- obviously fake- smile. "Well Miss Eliza. Since it seems your sister won't be joining us today. What shall we discuss first-"

"Quit it with your 'nice guy' act." Eliza said, her face completely serious and a bit skeptic at the same time.

Dr. Morgan would have to admit, he could see the little fire in her eyes and it would be perfect if they had the slightest bit of dullness... although, this girl was obnoxious... never mind her and her eyes.

But... now's not the time to think about that. She's trying to figure him out and he has to make sure she doesn't.

"What do you mean?" He says, acting completely clueless.

"Skye isn't here. I know you want something from her. And I don't like you, and I can tell you don't like me. So just quit acting nice and explain to me what your deal is." The girl said.

The male's smile just turned into a smirk and his glance turned into a glare, one that gave Eliza chills. No, she can't look scared now.

The doctor stepped up to her and grabbed her neck.

"Mh!" A small gasp for air escaped her, she can't breathe... she tried to grab his hand, but his other hand grabbed both her wrist to stop her from doing so.

He then leaned down to her ear to tell her something. "You stupid, stupid girl. Listen to me and listen well..." he whispered. "Skye has valuable eyes, and I want them. You're getting in the way. I could kill you right now. But I won't... because I know you won't tell her a single thing about this."

"H-How- Geh-" The grip tightened.

"Because your sister's life and happiness is important to you. Right?" The doctor smirked. Eliza's eyes widened. If she said a single thing would he kill her sister...? "And you look forward to living your own life don't you? How old are you now? 10 right? It'd be a real shame if you couldn't live to be 11..."

The male chuckled and stood up, letting go of the girl's wrist and neck. She started gasping for air.

"Well that's the end of this meeting." The doctor says, walking towards the door of the study. "Oh and Eliza dear..." He says, putting his 'nice guy act' back on.  "Even if you did tell anyone. It's not like anyone would believe a brat like you." He smirked and left the room.

'No one... would believe me...?' She thought. 'No. That's not true! Skye would definitely believe me! Right?! Yeah... she would... right?'

After she heard the man leave the house, Eliza left the study and went up to Skye's room to wait for her.

~

"You little bitch where were you?!" The father yelled at Skye, who had recently entered the house.

"I was out at the library studying... I have a test tomorrow." The girl says, staring blankly at the father.

"Well the doctor came by and you weren't here you dumb bitch! That makes us look suspicious!" He says, smacking her across the face and then kicking her in the stomach. Skye simply just coughed, she was used to this by now.

"What have I been telling you?! The doctor will see these bruises you idiot!" The wife shouted.

"Can it bitch!" The father yelled, hitting the mother across the face.

While her parents were fighting Skye took this chance and went upstairs to her room.

As she closed the door she noticed Eliza sitting on her bed, staring at the floor.

"Eliza? What are you doing in here?" Skye asked.

"Skye, would you believe anything I told you?" The young girl asked, staring up at her sister. Skye noticed a pleading, as well as a hopeful look on Eliza's face.

"Eliza? What do you mean?" Skye asked.

"Can you just answer my question... and be honest." She mumbles.

Honest. Skye didn't know how to answer that. She knew at times Eliza had an active imagination, and Eliza also made some jokes and pranks that Skye sometimes thought were serious... but they never were...

So it's hard to answer this...

"Skye...?" Eliza mumbled.

The older sister sighed. "Well maybe... depending on the situation... I would..."

Eliza smiled a little. "Okay. Good."

"So I heard Dr. Morgan came over... how'd that meeting go?" Skye says, changing the subject.

Eliza was quiet for a few minutes, slowly thinking back on that situation. He grabbed her neck and she couldn't breathe... but she can't tell her that... or else.

The young girl just innocently smiled at her older sister.

"Same as usual." Eliza says, she then stood up. "I'm going to bed. Night sis." She lightly hugged the older girl and left the room.

Even though Skye said she'd believe her... this was a situation where she seemed to have doubts on her sister's choice of words...

'I should have faith in Eliza... but... for a quick second I thought I saw a hand mark on her neck...'
