Sephy's pov

"Psst Sephy"

I groan and turn over. "Sephy" my sister calls. "Wake up or you'll be late for school". Crap. I can't be late again or else be in detention. Hurriedly I jump out of bed and run into the bath room to get ready.

I look into the mirror to examine the state of my neck. It's swollen to twice it's usually size and it's black and blue. The places where my mother's nails have dug in are cakes with blood, so I reach into the medicine cabinet above the mirror and begin cleaning the wound. I use antiseptic to wipe my neck and hiss when it makes contact.

I really should have cleaned this up lats night I thought to myself

I begin my usual morning routine and hop in the shower and then I brush my teeth. I decide that today I'm going to leave my hair out and leave it as an afro. Then I quickly put on my awful school uniform. I roll up my skirt a few times because I prefer it short

"There" I say to myself, feeling satisfied. I decide to put on a scarf to try and hide the bruises on my neck, seeing as make up alone wouldn't be able to hide them. Then I put on light make up and some dark red lipstick and I'm done.

I make my way to the kitchen and begin making breakfast for Riley and I. I quickly fry us some banana pancakes.

"Do you want some whipped cream with your pancake?" I ask Riley. "No thanks".

Once we're done I make lunch for Riley and quickly usher her to my car before Mother wakes up. I drive her to school. "Bye Riley, I hope you enjoy your day" I call out from the car. "You too Sephy" she replies, and with that she takes her school bag and walks into the school. After that, I drive to school and park my car.

I sling my bag over my back and walk to my locker. I put in the combination very quickly "Sixteen, thirty-two, twenty-one" I whisper under my breath. My locker opens. I take out the book that I know I will be needing for first period.

"Hey Sephy"

I turn around and and see Mason, Kacy's boyfriend. Or rather her ex-boyfriend.

"Hi Mason" I reply. "Do you want to walk to class together" he asks sounding oddly nervous. "Sure".

We walk to class together with an awkward silence between us. Occasionally he glances up at me dark grey eyes but then he looks away. Before Kacy died we used to be really close, but now it just feels weird and strange, as if we shouldn't be near each other.

He opens the door to Mr Fawley's classroom and let's me enter first. Quickly, I spot Trina having a conversation with another girl in the back of the classroom. I found this really weird seeing as she's almost never early to class. The other girl with her looks scared and panicked

She's probably scheming again

I sit down in my seat next to Trina and wait for her to notice me. She's speaking in weirdly hushed tones and sounds a little bit worried.

"Trina are you alright? " I ask curiously. For a second I think I see a flash of nervousness but it's gone before I can acknowledge it. "I'm fine" she says before plastering on a smile.

I have been friends with Tina for a very long time and I have never seen her lie so badly. Once she even told me lie that Kacy had decided to dye her hair hot pink and I believed her because she was really convincing. So why was she struggling so much now?

Just as I'm about to ask her a question Mr Fawley walks into the class and begins his lesson. Maybe I'll do it another time I think.

As I leave the classroom I realise that I really pee so I rushed to the toilet. While I'm in the stall I hear two girls talking outside the stall. It takes me a moment to realise that one of them is Trina.

"How do they know" the other girl says, she sound panicky and anxious. "I don't know" Trina says, "But if we don't listen its gonna be everywhere". Her Spanish accent accent getting thicker the longer she speaks. They stay there for a while longer.

I feel a bit woozy so I sit down for a minute on the toilet seat.

I quickly add another picture and send it to her, along with the words

Written underneath. This should stir up some trouble.

A minute later I get up feeling slightly dizzy. I really should start sleeping earlier. I notice that Trina and whatever girl she's with having gone quiet over something. "They sent me something else" Trina says. At this point it was difficult to understand what she was saying. She let's out a few Spanish curses then leaves the toilet with the other girl.

I wait for a few minutes before finally deciding to get out of the toilet. After overhearing Tina's conversation I'm left feeling slightly unnerved. So I try to go through the day as quickly as possible, hoping that maybe it'll make the day somehow shorter

Finally school is over. I leave the school quickly feeling mentally drained and head over to Riley's friend's house to pick her up.

As I drive to her friend's house, I realise that it's really difficult to find a parking space so I spend a moment contemplating whether I should pay for parking or just a park further away. I go with the latter option.

While I'm walking I hear two little girls singing. They're singing that awful rhyme.

"Kacy Keane" the first girl sings
"ruled like a queen
In the school of Eastwood High"

"She walked into the woods" the second girls sings
"and left a pool of blood without saying goodbye."

They take the next verse in turns
"She disappeared from sight giving her parents a fright
Turning the woods into a crime scene
A beautiful girl gone with a whirl"

But together they sing
"And that was the last seen of Kacy"

I try to choke back a sob and fail.

"Woah Sephy, are you okay?"

I look up

This is definitely the longest chapter I've written by far I really hope you enjoyed it
