Smackdown had arrived, and tonight, Matt would be Lexi's guest on A Moment Of Bliss, as a special surprise to the WWE Universe. Since he had been away for a few months, Smackdown had changed up a little bit. Roman Reigns was now the Universal Champion, after defeating The Fiend Bray Wyatt at Hell In A Cell, and even though Josh and Braun lost the tag titles to The Usos on the Smackdown after Survivor Series, they were able to win them back at TLC in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match, and Josh was also still deploying double duty, keeping hold of the Intercontinental title, defeating the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Robert Roode, King Corbin and The Miz along the way. And as for Pamela, she recently won the title back in a triple threat match between her, the champion, Dakota Kai and Naomi, also at TLC, in a ladder match, with a little help from Mercedes, taking them out while they were both going for the belt.

Matt: Tonight will definitely be interesting...

Lexi: Yep, you can say that again.

Josh: You sure you wanna do this?

Matt: Positive. Those two need to pay for this. Make no mistake, I was pissed at Leah too, and didn't really speak to her until we talked it through with you guys. Besides the actual chat itself and the whole Disney thing, me and her haven't really spoken since, and even though I said I had forgiven her, I'm not entirely convinced...

Lexi: Well, maybe you just need tonight to help sharpen your mind a little. I won't go too hard on the questions, but that doesn't mean Pamela and Fergal won't.

Matt: Let's do this...

The segment was surprisingly kicking off Smackdown, and when Lexi went out with Nikki to start the show, Matt was pacing backstage as to whether this whole thing was a good idea...

Lexi: Now, since it's a new year, it's a fresh start for everyone, especially for us, your next Women's Tag Team Champions! But tonight, this Moment Of Bliss heralds a guest who, believe me, wishes completely fresh starts were possible. Behind the scenes, this man has been through a lot as of late, and wants to clear the air tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome... Matt Watkins!

The crowd popped enormously, and to his new theme, The Way Of The Ring, out came Matt, tipping his hat to the crowd, before hugging both Lexi and Nikki before taking a seat on the stage.

Matt: Wow... what a welcome back. I missed you all!

After cheering for him and chanting for him some more, they then got down to the nitty-gritty.

Lexi: So, if you don't mind me asking, what's the situation with you, Carmella and Bayley?

Matt: Well, when Bayley and Finn told me that Carmella's baby might not be mine, I didn't believe her. But when Mella told me that it was actually true, and she had cheated on me with Josh, I needed to think about what I would do next. I needed to think for basically a split second before making them pay for messing in our relationship. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't happy when I found out from Leah, and I'm still not, but in this instance, I'm dealing with Bayley and Fergal first.

The moment Matt finished speaking, out came Pamela and Fergal together, and even though a few of the crowd cheered for Fergal, since he hadn't been on Smackdown for a while, a majority of the crowd booed him, since he was siding with Pamela.

Pamela: Yawn... Are you finished?

Fergal: Cos we've been listening to what you just said, and it bored us so much we just had to come out here and talk to you about the TRUE story.

While Nikki then stood up and went face to face with them both, Lexi looked a little confused, while Matt just looked mad.

Lexi: I don't remember inviting you two clowns on...

Pamela: No need, we invited ourselves. You see, Carmella cheated on Matt... and he forgives her?

Fergal: Gotta admit, we didn't see that coming. But we need him to realise is that Mella was never actually gonna tell him, so someone else did. And that someone was us, and we did it on what we felt was an appropriate night... The night of their engagement!

The crowd then popped at the word 'engagement', but by now, Matt was absolutely fuming. The only thing stopping him from kicking the teeth out of Fergal's mouth was the fact that deep down, Leah probably wouldn't want him to.

Lexi: Are you done?

Pamela: Oh yeah, now we're done. Now if you'll excuse us...

Nikki: Hold up... I can tell that Matt came here for a reason and that's to have a fight. And even though that might not be tonight, maybe he'd take some pleasure in saying this. Matt?

Matt: You see, I'm done with you keeping secrets from me. I'm done with you in general. Which is why I'm challenging you both to a mixed tag match at the Royal Rumble. The both of you against me... and even though Leah can't participate, how about someone else? How about... you, Alexa?

Matt then stood side by side with Lexi and Nikki, with a hint of concern in Pamela and Fergal's eyes.

Lexi: Hell, I'm in if you are.

Pamela and Fergal backed away completely, with now a look of fury. Just as Fergal turned around, Matt jumped at the chance and hit a Throwback on the Irishman, laying him out on the stage. When Pamela saw this, Lexi hit her DDT on the stage, giving a signal of intent about how confident the two were heading to the Royal Rumble. And then, when they got backstage, Hunter was waiting.

Hunter: That was pretty impressive out there, it's clear to see that you guys are prepped for this. As for the build up, next week Pamela is scheduled to defend her belt against Lacey, who's winning a gauntlet match tonight for the number one contendership, and Pamela will have Fergal in her corner, so we plan for you two to go out there and take him out and ultimately distract Pamela so Lacey will win the title.

Matt: So, what about us next week?

Hunter: I like the sound of a mixed tag team match, just to see how well you two actually do work as a team, and you'll be facing the team of Ember and Braun. Not gonna lie, I'm curious as to how former tag champs will handle facing off against each other.

Lexi: And does Braun himself know about this?

Hunter: He does now.

Braun and Ember came from behind and the Monster Among Men grasped the shoulders of both Matt and Lexi, and both had a tense look on their faces.

Braun: Not gonna lie, I've missed having you around, Matt... but that doesn't mean that we will be going easy on you next week.

Ember: Nope, but I'm actually excited for this! Former tag champs going at it, and real besties going at it!

Lexi couldn't wipe the smile off her face, and gave Ember a hug.

Lexi: I can't wait!

Hunter: And on top of that, Braun, you and Josh have a tag title defence at the Rumble.

Braun: Against who?

Hunter: It's a fatal 4 way - you'll be facing The New Day, Miz & Morrison, and The Usos.

Braun: Sounds good, me and Josh love a challenge.

The four exchanged glances before going their separate ways for the night. Lexi and Ember shared another hug before she followed Matt back to the locker room, where they met up with Josh, Leah and Amy, with Matt's girls hugging him.

Leah: You guys sure gave them something to remember...

Matt: And there's more good news, Pamela's losing her belt next week, so the rivalry can go full pelt from here to the PPV. Me and Lexi have a trial run as a team against Braun and Ember as well next week.

Josh: And you're okay with that?

Matt: Yeah, me and Lexi are excited as anything! Speaking of Braun, Hunter did also say you've got a tag title match at the Rumble, against The Usos, New Day and Miz and Morrison.

Josh raised a wry smile at the challenge that lay ahead of him and Braun. Leah, meanwhile, took a deep breath before taking a rest and a seat on the sofa.

Lexi: You okay, Leah?

Leah: It's nothing, just a little kick from this one. They've been getting more and more frequent as of late.

Amy then hugged her mum, as she laid down next to her.

Matt: Maybe it's best if you stay at home from now on. You're only 3 months away from giving birth, and finding it more difficult to get around.

Leah: Well, if you're sure... Besides, I guess me and Ames should be okay just watching you from home.

Amy: So we get to watch Daddy on TV?

Leah: Yeah, we do!

Amy: YAY!

As the gang then went their separate ways for the night and went home, Matt couldn't help but think about whether Leah could really be okay.

Matt: You sure you're okay?

Leah: Yeah, just a few kicks here and there.

Matt: Reckon it's worth seeing the doctor about?

Leah: I'll go this week, with Amy. Don't you worry about me, I don't want you to lose focus on Pamela and Fergal.

Matt: To be honest, you're more important than them right now.

He grabbed both her hands on the balcony and emotionally poured his heart out.

Matt: This whole thing, has got me thinking in a whole different way. Like, if I wasn't around, would you probably be with Josh? Would you still be friends with Pamela? What she said about you cheating on me, I believe it. And while I may not have been exactly be happy with you for doing so, and even though I forgave you, honestly, I'm still not... I feel like I'm the one who should be apologising. I mean, I haven't exactly been the most loving boyfriend as of late, and I feel like I may have made the wrong decision going back to wrestling, even if it is just for a little bit.

Leah then gripped Matt's hands even tighter.

Leah: You told me yourself that you had to do this. So I'm letting you do it. I don't even know what came over me that night, it was a spur of the moment thing and it won't happen again, I promise. Especially now we're engaged. Now, you go to the Rumble with Lexi and beat the living hell out of those two for me. And for... OUR kids.

She then guided one of his hands onto her bump and kept it there.

Leah: As far as I'm concerned, you're the father of this baby. Now don't you worry about me, I'll be fine, just go do what you wanted to do.

Matt then smiled and kissed her as they went to bed.

The next week on Smackdown...

Matt watched on with Lexi, as Pamela, with Fergal and Mercedes in her corner, was in total control of Lacey, but that was about to change, when Matt and Lexi got the signal to head down to the ring and interrupt. After a brief staredown, Matt hit a Throwback on Fergal, while Lexi threw Mercedes into the barricade twice, and this had Pamela absolutely fuming. When she went to confront Lexi, Little Miss Bliss didn't back down, and had Pamela backing up towards the ring, and as she climbed back in, Lacey hit a Woman's Right to the jaw, and followed it up with a moonsault, to get the win and her first title in WWE.

Greg: Here is your winner, and the NEWWW Smackdown Women's Champion, Lacey Evans!

As Lacey celebrated, Matt and Lexi had a smirk on their faces as Fergal, Pamela and Mercedes got their bearings and headed backstage, with faces like thunder. Matt and Lexi remained in the ring for their match against Ember and Braun, and as Monster Eclipse headed to the ring, Lexi had some last words of encouragement.

Lexi: Just try and picture this as Fergal and Pamela. Imagine all the frustration those two put you through and take it out on Braun.

Matt just nodded as he and Braun started the match. After 10 minutes and some entertaining segments, including Matt doing Braun lined Matt up for a running powerslam, but as Braun circled the ring, Matt slid off and Lexi made the tag. Knowing the situation, Braun tagged in Ember, and after a little battle, Lexi hit her DDT on Ember, before Matt recovered enough to stand Lexi on his shoulders and hit Twisted Bliss off the top of Matt to pin the War Goddess to win the match.

Greg: Here are your winners, the team of Matt Watkins and Alexa Bliss!

As the two shared a hug in the middle of the ring, out came Pamela and Fergal with mics in their hands.

Pamela: Good for you, you won your first match as a team. But to be honest, do you really expect to beat us?

Fergal: Two people who the world have wanted to be together since day 1, and when we did finally get together, the world now suddenly hates us. For what reason? For attacking some of their favourite wrestlers? For dishing out dirt on wrestler's relationships behind the scenes? Their so-called role models?

They both pointed to the crowd, as they booed them loudly.

Pamela: Well, make no mistake, we are going to make sure the world remembers us come the Royal Rumble. Because we are going to make the two of you sorry.

Fergal: You see, the challenge you issued to us last week was weak and feeble, so allow us to come to you with a counter proposal.

Pamela: And Matt, if you're not a complete pussy, you'll accept it. We don't just want a regular match at the Royal Rumble. We want a match with no rules, no regulations and anything goes. We are sick and tired of being in your boyfriend's and fiance's shadows, so with all being said and done...

Fergal: We are officially challenging you to a mixed tag team No Holds Barred match.

Matt, looked at Lexi, who gave him a death stare expression, and then raised a sly smile as he got a mic.

Lexi: If it's a war you want, it's a war you'll get.

Matt: Because we accept.

After the segment was over, he was at his locker room on his phone, checking his messages, when he got one from Leah.

Leah: Looks like you've finally got what you wanted. And when you said you accepted, that death stare you gave them, it even gave me and Amy chills! I wish I could go into battle with you, but I'm a little occupied with our baby! You and Lexi will kick their asses at the Rumble, just be careful not to get injured too badly! I love you.
