3.What happend?
That should be it? The best day of my life?
Yesterday, Sasuke brought me afterwards to my parents home, where I still lived. They were amazed to find that finally someone would want to marry their daughter. Yay. As if I was that hopeless, SHANNARO. But he did not stay overnight nor did he kiss me again. He did not even look into my eyes as he announced, that he will fix the preparations for tomorrow. That was it. He was gone.
I could not sleep well that night, the excitement coursing through my vains. Maybe it was not the wedding of my dreams, but I would marry tomorrow the man of my dreams. That was the important thing, right? I was going to be an Uchiha and would finally move out from my parents to the old Uchiha district, where I belonged. Hopefully. At least he wanted me to move there. As long as he will come back, there was almost nothing that could break my happiness right now.
Insomnia troubling me, I decided to start my packing and lost track of time, when I heard the knock on my door. Was it already morning? Looking at the clock, I confirmed my suspicions. I had to get ready.
''Come in!'' I said, secretly hoping it was Sasuke. I would have loved to spend the few hours with him, while he was still there.
But to my dismay it was my best friend, Ino.
''Oh hai, Ino pig'' I said grumpily. She saw the dissapointment on my face and laughed.
''Oh come on, the way you look right now, you really should be happy, that your fiance is not seeing you!' she teased as always. But she was right, like I said, I could not sleep. But also not in the mood for talking.
''So, these bags under you eyes, have you and Sasuke did THAT before marriage? I did not think that of you, lady Sakura'', she still teased, not seeing tears that formed in my eyes.
''No, we did not. And will not do afterwards, because he is leaving.'', I screamed at her, losing all control on my temper. Her eyes immediatly widend.
''Sorry, I didn't thought..'' she started but I just waved with my hand, for her to stop.
Then, she started doing my make up and hair in silence.
Sasuke's POV
''Naruto, thank you. I... I would not even think to come back, and then it would have been too late", it was not often, that I thanked the people around me, but Naruto did derserve it this time.
He knew me better, then I know myself. While I was fulfiling my mission for Kakashi, he wrote me a letter that made me come back to Konoha on the spot.
''Hi Teme,
what's up? How's your mission going? I know, I know, you would never tell me for it is a secret... Anyway, I wanted to make you aware, that your time is running out. I know exactly you know what I mean. But I will tell you anyway.
I am really concerned about Sakura. You know, she still loves you like hell, you asshole. But the waiting is just destoying her. I know, you care for her more then you want to admit, but it's time to grow up. If not now, it will be too late.
You probably know, for we send you invitations, that everyone of her friends is married here already. You never showed up (not even at my wedding you jerk, you could have been my best man), and so you could not see the sadness in her eyes. She is the only one here, who is single, not even sure if you teme ever come back.
I am writing you, so you know, Sakura is beautiful and smart and the strongest kunouchi, which makes the boys here crazy for her. And if you don't move your dumb ass here, then I swear to God, I will find someone for her, who is more worthy.
Yours sincerly,
Naruto''
''You are welcome Sasuke. I am glad, that for once you listened to me'' Uzumaki anwsered with his neverending grin on his face.
Naruto was right all along, but I was too dumb to know this. I would never admit it out loud, but I was glad for the latter and the fact, that he looked after Sakura for me.
So today is going to be that day, I will make Sakura my wife. Just at the thought my heart skipped a beat.
I would never admit it out loud, I am just not the type, but I love this woman more then words can describe. I just hope, she can read my mind.
Few years had passed...
She was sitting on her bed, it was late afternoon. In her hand was her wedding photo.
She sat there, all alone, as always. Neverendling lonliness.
She really did not understand why so many women thought of their wedding as the best day of their lifes. For her, it was not the case. One of the worst days would be a better description, sadly.
The ceremony was very spontanous, there was no time to plan, to coordinate.
Still, she thought on that day, she would be marring the man she loved and who loved her back. Well, today she knew better, or thought that at least.
Three years passed. She worked just as always at the hospital, taking more shifts then she should, just to spend the smallest amount of time in her new ''home''. Just like Sasuke wished, she moved out from her parents and lived on her own now in one of the many empty houses in the Uchiha district.
All of her things were here, but she still felt not at home. The houses around seemed hounted, the streets too empty, all too quiet. She knew what happend in here, when she was young.
Still, for the sake of Sasuke, she tried. She really did, but after he did not return in 2, 3, years, she just came back here once a week, to do the laundry and take her work clothes to her hospital office again. Her home was her work.
Her mind still on the ceremony, she asked herself 100th times why she had said yes. Right after the ceremony he left her again and she hadn't seen him for years. He never wrote letters, he just dissapeared again from her life. This time leaving a ring on her finger. Now she could nor have him nor any other man.
And there were many men who admired her, who would be there for her. But she was married. It was all too late. Had she just not been so foolish. Had she just had thought with her head instead of her heart. But once again, it was too late. Too late.
Sometimes she tried to see the things from Sasuke's perspective, but she could not read his mind. She even speculated, that he just married her, because he needed someone, who would take care of the big empty Uchiha mansion. She had been so foolish.
Usually her melancholy would subside after a few hours the most, she knew selfpity would not help her cause. But not today.
Being the best medic the hospital had, it was often a curse. All of her friends always expected her to do the health checks. Usually, it was a good thing, for that was practically the only time she talked to the people she was once so close to. But not today.
Her patient today was Hinata. Symptoms: morning sickness, mood swings, all-time-hunger. Well, the symptoms were clear. With her chakra- ladden hand she looked for a life sign inside of Hinatas womb. And there it was. Tiny, strong heartbeat. The diagnosis was easy. Pregnancy.
Hinata cried overjoyed, called Naruto right afterwards, who stormed into her office with an even brighter grin, that she was used to.
She felt so happy for Naruto. But the selfish part of her never left her alone. And standing here, in front of the Uzumaki family she felt just out of place. Out of touch. She had left the room with a single tear, running down from her cheeks. For she promised herself she would not cry at work.
This was of course not the first health check that went like this. Now every couple she knew was pregnant. But again, everyone but her.
They were all pregnant. And all happy with their hushands, who cooked for them, did the dishes etc.
What was wrong with her? Why was she always the one that was left alone?
She battled against the envy, for the feeling was not right. She loved her friends and was happy for them. But the voice in her head would never stop saying that she was not enough. Never enough. Not worthy of love. Not worthy of happiness. Why her?
What happend to the always positive girl she once was? Where is the husband she wed all those years ago? How could she be so foolish?
She did not know.
In the deepest corner of her mind was one more question, which she hardly dared to ask herself.
What if he came back? Would she take him back?
She did not know.
