   I looked at the clock and realized something.  It was the worst day of my life. It was my birthday.

   I checked the date. "No no no no no no, it can't be.." I muttered, pacing the room. Every time I checked, it said. 'Sunday, July 7th.' And it made me worry. I had the worst experience with birthdays ever since mom died. Tears streamed down my face as I remembered the worst birthday I had.

Flashback

     The bright sunlight came from my windows when I woke up. I changed into a baby blue dress, black leggings and baby blue flats. My maid, Virgo appeared and greeted me. "Good morning, Hime-Sama." She said, bowing half her body towards me as I put a small ponytail in my hair.

    After mom died, dad had changed, and all he wanted was money. Eventually, we became rich but I was never happy about it. "Hime-Sama?" Virgo asked as I snapped into reality. "Yes?" I asked. "I hope you have a good birthday." She said. I smiled and gave her 20 dollars. "Go." I told her.

    "Go??" Virgo asked. "You can take the day off, and you'll still get paid." I said, smiling. "But what about you'r-" "He'll be fine." I interrupted her. "I'll take care of that." I said. "T-thank you!" Virgo exclaimed in happiness. She took my hand, and we rushed out of the room. "W-here are we going?" I stuttered, stumbling on the carpeted floors. "To see the maids and butlers." Virgo said, turning her head towards me so i could see her smiling. I smiled back.

    We ran through a buch of halls and doors. This house is huge! When we stopped, I was lead into a big room with all of my maids and butlers. We don't have many, though it looked like they invited quite a lot of people. "Surprise! Happy Birthday!" They called. In the center of the room, there was a cake, a buch of presents, and a big harp. "Thank you!" I said happily. "This is the greatest birthday of all, because you did such a great job preparing it!" I cheerfully said. We all laughed and talked. After a couple of minutes I felt a chill. "Are these walls soundproof?" I asked. "Yes, Hime-Sama." Virgo replied. I sighed in relief.

     After an hour of games, talking and eating, there was a knock on the door. 'Don't be dad, don't be dad..' I thought, hiding behind Aquarius, who huffed at me yet still let me hide behind her. "Hello..." A familiar male voice said. "Can I come in?" He said. "N-natsu..." I whispered as someone let him in. I stood up. I caught his eye as he looked for me. I waved my hand. "Natsu!" I called. He didn't seem to hear me because of all the chatter. I rushed toward him, saying excuse me every time I passed someone. When the crowd of people were finally behind me, amd Natsu was in front of me, and I looked at him.

     He grew a lot taller, and he was pretty handsome. "Natsu!" I ran to him and hugged him. "Luce!" He said. "Where were you?" He asked. "I was in the back of the room, calling you, but I guess it drowned in the chatter, right?" I joked. We laughed and talked until Lyra interrupted.

    "Excuse me..." She said into the microphone in her hand. There was still chatter. "Excuse me..." She repeated. Still chatter. Aquarius whispered something to Lyra and she nodded handing her the mic. "ARE YOU LISTENING, TWERPS?!?!?" Aquarius yelled into the microphone. Everyone stopped chatting and looked at her. Natsu jumped. I laughed. "Thank you." She said, handing the mic to Lyra. "I want to sing a song to our dear Miss Lucy Heartfilia, who is officially a teen." She said. Everyone clapped as I blushed. "So, here it is." She said. Lyra took a deep breath and sang. (I have the song at the links, so it would be a good time to play it now while reading.)

    I listened to the song. It was so beutiful. I didn't realize I was crying until I felt a tear drop on my hand. 'These are all my friends, they were never thought as maids, or butlers to me, they were always friends.' I thought, smiling. This truly was the best party ever.

     Soon the party was over, everyone said their goodbyes and we all parted our ways. Before that happened, I hugged all of my friends (as in te maids and butlers) and gave them a 20 dollar tip, for the amazingly fun party. But, I knew that the day was not over, but just the beginning.

      I returned to my room,  sat on my bed, and sighed happily. Then, it happened. My dad bursted into my room, angrily. "You thought you could get away, huh? Well you were wrong." He yelled at me, slamming down on my bed and slapping my face over and over again. He called me names that hit my heart like an arrow hitting a target. Fast and painful. He punched, kicked, pinched me as I cried in pain. When he stopped, I thought he was done.

    I sat on my bed until he arrived. He had the whip, an instrument that he used a lot. He whipped and whipped me, until I was covered in red, diagonal lines. My whole body felt like it was going to break into pieces. The whip was covered in blood. He licked some of the blood as some fell to the ground. That was pretty darn scary. Then he flicked the whip away. He left and came back with a bucket of water, and dumped it on me. My whole body stung, and I couldn't help but yell in pain.

     "Shut up!" He yelled at me, slapping me until he was satisfied. Then, he said more bad names so it would sting more, then left. All he would do to me is abuse me until he was satisfied. It was always bad when it was my birthday. Aquarius came in my room to help me, but if she did to much, she would get fired. So, she didn't do a lot, but it made me feel better. "I am evil, I deserve this.." I said, before falling into a painful rest. "I deserve this.."

    I was really scared now. This was the second time I ran off, and it wasn't pretty. Now that I was gone again, he would abuse me even more, and a lot harder. I never had a good birthday ever since that day. Today, might be the last day I am going to be alive.
