14: Let's have a great year!
With the last bell, the first day of school finally ended. The students left in various ways, but all were in a hurry to leave. The majority of the younger students took the bus, while the older ones left with their own cars. Some would take their young siblings with them while others would tell them to make do before getting into an already full jeep to go to a probably drunken party.
Wolf was an exception. She was indeed going to a party, but without alcohol. It would just be a group of friends who would get together to have fun and start the year off on the right foot. So the girl followed her classmate to his brother's car. Wolf wasn't that close to Gus, but she didn't hate him and his brothers were nice so she accepted the invitation. Arriving in the parking lot, the two children were surprised to see that they had been beaten. Indeed, Benson was already leaning against the car, listening to his music while waiting for them.
"Hey bro!"
The music shouldn't be too loud since Gus' call was enough to attract the attention of his older brother, who took off his headphones and placed them on his neck.
"Hey lil' Gus" said the smiling teenager. "How was the first day? Wolf haven't you made too much misery?"
"Oh she did got mad" Gus replied, laughing at the joke. "But not on me."
The young girl sighed in annoyance. It had taken a while for her to get used to this family's sense of humor, but even now it still didn't make her laugh. However, she was pulled out of her thoughts when the car horn sounded sharply, startling everyone. The eldest brother had just arrived. He was incidentally the owner of the vehicle and the only one to have a driver's license.
"Everyone's ready?" Bow called out with his energic voice. "It's time to party the Best Friend Squad's way!"
The two younger brothers responded with the same enthusiasm as the older while the three of them got into the car. Their synchronism got a smirk from Wolf as she took the last seat.
The Porter family didn't live very far from the school so they barely had time to listen a single song before arriving. There were already two cars parked in the street. An old model with tarnished red paint and a slightly more recent black one.
"Yes!" Bow shot when he saw the cars. "Everyone is already there!"
"Don't forget me okay?"
"Sparkles!?"
Wolf couldn't contain her surprise when she heard the voice of the volunteer behind the car. She had hardly ever seen her outside of Brightmoon and certainly didn't expect her to teleport here!
"Hi guys." Glimmer said in her cheerful voice.
The young woman was greeted with a hug from Bow and then a high-five from the other brothers. Even Wolf greeted her with a small nod when the surprise passed.
"Well!" Glimmer exclaimed. "Shall we go?"
Without wasting any more time, the small group finally made their way to the home. Bow quickly knocked on the door to announce their arrival before opening. He immediately spotted Catra and Adora chatting in the hallway and went to join them while the others entered.
"Welcome to your home!" the blonde joked when she saw her friend.
"Yo." added the terrian soberly.
"Hi. Where are the others?"
"Yeah!" Glimmer added, joining them. "I still can't believe you asked to invite more people! I must see who has succeeded in entering into your good grace, Catra."
This joke was greeted with a feline growl and a roll of mismatched eyes. A reaction so Catra-like that it made her friends laugh as Adora answered for her girlfriend.
"They are in the living room. Also, Amity, Luz and Willow came with us."
"Really? Nice."
With that, Benson went ahead with Gus and Wolf. This enthusiasm amused the older ones who followed more slowly.
The Porters' house was quite large. Without being rich, there was no lack of money. The building had two floors and a basement as well as a backyard at least as wide as the house, maybe even a little larger. Obviously, the living room was also a respectable size.
Upon arriving, Benson immediately realized that there would be a lot more people than expected. He was aware that his brother's friends wanted to invite some more people, but there wasn't an exact number. Now, there were three... five... SIX strangers in the room.
In one corner were five people who must have been the same age as Bow. Two of them had green hair and were obviously twins. The third had huge purple ponytails and the last two were terrians. One looked like a lizard, yet had blond hair, and the other looked like a monkey. Everyone was discussing happily.
The sofa, however, was populated with more familiar faces. There was Luz, Amity, Willow as well as ...
"What are you doing here Kipo!?"
The young pink girl jumped in surprise at hearing this scream and went to hide behind the sofa before glancing in the direction of the new arrivals.
"Wolf?"
It was indeed the youngest of the guests who had shouted this way, drawing the attention of everyone present. Most were quite surprised, but one of them was a master at hiding their thoughts. So it was Double Trouble who came to greet the young girl, squatting in front of her with an innocent smile.
"Hi there. I remember you. You were playing with my sister at camp. Everything's fine?"
Wolf didn't want to answer. She simply went to sit on the second sofa. Uneasiness was starting to appear on some faces, especially Benson and Gus. It's always awkward when your guest is doing a scene. Fortunately, cheerful sparks arrived to change the subject.
"I'm shocked!" Glimmer laughed as she arrived. "I didn't know you girls knew the Blight twins."
"Wait," Bow added, puzzled. "Aren't these the two new students in our class?"
"Yeah. Eh eh..."
Catra walked around her curious friends to face them before taking a deep breath.
"I'll tell the details later ... maybe. The important thing is that Hugo, DT and Kipo are... my siblings. And it was thanks to the twins and Entrapta that I was able to meet them again."
The room was plunged into silence. Obviously, the majority of those present already knew the story. But for Glimmer, the Porter brothers, Willow and Wolf, it was breaking news. In the end, it was Glimmer who found her voice back first, quickly imitated by Bow.
"OH MY GOD!"
"I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!"
The purpose of this party was to start the year well. This kind of news was the best way to start it on the right foot.
