It was a beautiful afternoon day. The gentle breeze blew freely through the large sakura forest, where multiple pink flower petals would fall off the tree branches and glide down to the grassy ground. The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky that the trees casted some shade, creating such perfect spring-like scenery.

The sounds of soft footsteps can be heard as a young girl with black hair walked through the forest, carrying a blue violin in her hand as she searched for a good spot to play the well-crafted instrument that she'd learnt to create before joining the Demon Slayer Corps.

Her multicolored eyes stared up at the sakura trees, her free hand reaching out to trace her fingers on the blooming flower petals with a delicate gentle touch. 'Such beautiful flowers...I wish this lasts forever..' The girl named Kegareta smiled softly from the thought of wanting the pink flowers growing on the trees to last forever before she had to continue on searching for a peaceful and silent spot to play her violin.

Not too long ago, she had came back from a rather long and complicated mission. She managed to kill the demon before it escaped the break of dawn, but several humans in the small town got severely wounded. If it wasn't for her arriving just in time before the demon could cause a brutal massacre, she would be having a complete panic attack from the sight of blood everywhere. No matter, she was just glad the mission was over and done with.

Soon finding a large river pond near a few fully bloomed sakura trees, Kegareta let out a small quiet sigh to herself before positioning the blue violin, making sure that it wasn't tilting before bringing its bow to the strings. 'Now that I'm alone...I don't see any bad reasons to play a melody for a while..' She thought to herself before beginning to play a gentle yet beautiful melody on the violin.

With a smooth and careful motion when she began to create the melody, it felt like as it sounded almost like Heaven's music. From how she effortlessly perfected the sounds of the newly created rhythm, Kegareta knew that it reminded her so much when her older brother would always sing her a little lullaby when they were still younger. It brought back so many memories that a single tear subconsciously began to freely fall down as she continued bringing such melody to life.

Her navy blue cloak rippled faintly from the same gentle breeze while the ribbons attached to the blue themed kitsune mask were moving along with its movements, the fallen cherry blossoms danced and glided through the air that it created something even more unique and beautiful.

However, little did she know, there was someone else who happened to be in the same area...

A girl with a sunset colored hair named Hanayo was currently sitting underneath a sakura tree and trying to meditate as a way to control her anger after a rough sparring lesson with one of the Hashiras. It's not like they went easy on her or anything, but she did wanted to see if she can test out her improved strength from so much training.

After a few attempts of trying to meditate (which was also Gyomei's way to keep the mind focused), Hanayo couldn't seem to concentrate and let out a small sigh in frustration. Not only did she tried all on her own, the strange noises from the distance wasn't helping her either since it was so distracting-

Wait......noises? Was there someone else here?

Hanayo may not have sharp hearing like some of her comrades, but she didn't seem far away to where the noise was coming from. Standing up, she began listening closely to the noise, that happened to be the sound of a violin being played. Strange......she hasn't seen anyone else with these kinds of instruments.

As she got closer, Hanayo then stood behind the tree as the source of sound was finally found. It happened to be Kegareta who was playing such melody on her blue violin. Was it just her, or did the sunset haired girl feel herself also tearing up when she noticed the single tear rolling down the other girl's face. Who can blame her hyper empathy?

'Kegareta plays a violin?' Hanayo thought to herself, her red-orange eyes were a bit wide from such elegant display as she watched from afar, but just a few feet so Kegareta wouldn't notice her presence. 'I didn't know she can play so beautifully- wait what? Don't think that! It sounds weird......but also intriguing.' She mentally grimaced at the next thought, but a faint pink blush subconsciously formed onto her face as she watched, having a small smile.

After the final notes of the music, Kegareta let out a shaky breath as she finished playing her violin. Falling onto her knees, more tears flowed down her cheeks as the memories of her brother kept rewinding in her head as a saddened smile formed on her lips, then staring up at the bright sky. 'Onii-San? I played this for you... I hope you love it..' The black haired girl thought to herself, rubbing her eyes with her wrists to get rid of the teardrops, some of it landed on the grass.

Hanayo can feel her heart ache from seeing her friend in such sad state as more tears also flowed down her face. She know exactly what it's like to lose a special person who cared for the other. Should she go over there and comfort her? She didn't want to appear as a burden, but many doubts knew how to strike her right in the heart.

Without any other choice, Hanayo took a deep breath to calm down those doubts and got rid of her tears by wiping them away before stepping forward and kneeling down next to Kegareta, placing a comforting hand on the other girl's back. "Are you doing okay?" She asked softly.

Hearing another voice, Kegareta instinctively turned around and almost fell back when she spotted Hanayo, a bright red blush exploding on her face. "O-Oh! H-Hanayo!" She squeaked out, standing up and quickly grabbing her kitsune mask to hide her shy expression, despite her sharp hearing catching her friend's voice. "How long were you here?" She asked, her cloak rippling from the small wind.

"N-Not that long." Hanayo responded, her blush darkening as she stood up along with the other girl. "I was trying to meditate, but the sounds of your violin was distracting me." She pointed out, staring down at her feet in slight embarrassment before looking back up at her friend.

Kegareta felt completely caught off guard from Hanayo's next response, slowly lowering her mask so that her multicolored eyes were visible. "Y-You...heard me playing?" She asked nervously, earning a simple head nod from the sunset haired girl. To be completely honest, Kegareta wasn't expecting someone else to be in the sakura forest, but it did felt nice to play her violin out in the opening.

Kegareta then walked towards the tree and sat down underneath it, placing down her violin and mask while some sakura petals would land in her fluffy black hair. "Nobody has ever watched nor heard me play before, so you're the first one.." She said softly, tugging onto her cloak for warmth as she had a small giddy smile.

Hanayo was a little shocked from her words, then coming to sit down next to the girl as some strands of her hair fell down from her braided hair crown. "Really? I didn't know.." She said, letting out a small awkward chuckle as she brought a hand up to rub the back of her neck. From identifying Kegareta's body language and the nervous tone in her voice, Hanayo felt like this must be very awkward for her, but didn't push her boundaries. "I must say, that melody sounded very pretty. Where did you learn how to play the violin?" She asked, glancing over at Kegareta with a slight curiosity in her eyes.

Staying silent, Kegareta didn't know how to answer Hanayo's question about where she'd played the violin. It was...rather complicated in her perspective, but it almost felt like if her memories ended up being blurry.

"Before I joined the corps, my older brother crafted my violin. Our guardian taught me a few lessons, but throughout my childhood years, my brother would sing me our special lullaby since it helps me sleep, so...I endlessly played my violin to match his voice and it ended up becoming into something that sounded like a melody." She explained, her nails digging into her navy blue cloak as she held back the urge to allow her emotions get the best of her. If it wasn't for the durability of the cloak's fabric, she would've left holes from her nails.

Hanayo listened carefully as Kegareta began to speak, a sympathetic frown appearing on her face as the wind blew through her hair. It must've been rough for the multicolored girl before joining the Demon Slayer Corps. "Well, your brother will be proud of you for carrying on his lullaby.." She said, which caused Kegareta's eyes to widen in shock and look over at her. "I may not be this good at the whole comfort thing, but it doesn't really matter about the past anymore. What matters is what you do now in the present.." She continued, reaching her hand out and placing it on her shoulder.

Was it just her, or did Kegareta have this familiar fluttering feeling inside the pit of her stomach? Something about Hanayo's comfort just felt like it's the only thing that helps soothes her nerves. No matter, it did felt nice for having Hanayo by her side.

"Yeah...I guess you're right.." Kegareta said softly, rubbing her eyes as she felt the sudden urge to fall asleep after a long night on her mission and the day of playing her violin. Without even noticing what she was doing, she ended up resting her head on Hanayo's shoulder and closed her eyes, soon allowing the sleepiness get the best of her.

Hanayo, on the other hand, can feel her body tense up from feeling the pressure on her shoulder, the same blush on her face darkened as she stared at Kegareta with wide eyes. However, after looking around to see if nobody was around, the sunset haired girl smiled softly before also falling asleep and resting her head on top of hers.

~~~~A few minutes later~~~~
An older woman with black hair and faded red tips named Akai was currently walked around the sakura forest, trying to find the two younger girls since she needed them to get started with their daily training with her.
Akai wouldn't like her Tsugukos being late for their training sessions, but she gave her niece and three children an exception. There were times that she had to give them punishments like having to run 40 laps around the estate for two to three weeks if they'd miss training.
'I wonder where they are...this forest seems larger than last year's spring season..' Akai thought to herself, worry can be seen in her ruby red eyes as she continued walking. The Rose Hashira would mostly likely plan a searching party if she didn't last longer with spending most of her energy walking around the forest.
However, as she came upon the river pond, the older woman eventually spotted Hanayo and Kegareta fast asleep underneath the sakura tree, smiling softly from the sight of the two younger girls. 'I guess I can leave them be...I knew something like this would happen eventually..' She thought to herself.
