Feeling the energy coming back to her body, Kumosu slowly woke up from her sleep as she began regaining back consciousness. Her plum purple eyes looked red and puffy from all the crying she had let out from grieving over Ochi and the secret she'd kept from the Kochos.
Scanning her surroundings, the young girl found herself in a room and realized that she was back inside the Butterfly Mansion. How long was she even asleep? Slowly sitting up on the bed she was laying on, Kumosu rubbed her eyes and felt both of her cheeks wet, instantly noticing that they were stained with tears.
"Kumosu-Chan?"
Hearing her name being called, Kumosu looked over and saw both Shinobu and Kanao sitting down in two chairs next to both sides of her bed. Catching the scent of conflict and the hint of betrayal that was lingering in their auras, Kumosu could feel her heart ache from the overwhelming guilt and fear that she had kept her mouth shut for almost three days.
"How are you feeling?" Kanao asked in a soft voice, reaching out to take her younger sister's hand in a gentle grasp, the warmth of comfort somehow soothing the guilty feeling. Kumosu didn't understand this one thing......
Should both of her sisters be angry at her for keeping this whole mess a secret?
Kumosu let out a small sigh as she looked down at her lap, her bangs casting a shadow over her eyes as she felt like this whole thing was her fault for pushing Ochi over the edge and not leaving to find her sooner. "Better, I guess..." She responded quietly, but this time, it wasn't in her usual bright and enthusiastic tone. Her voice was a little hoarse from all the screaming and crying when she continued grieving over her lost sister who was now a demon because of.........him.
Shinobu frowned from hearing Kumosu's sudden change in her voice. She hated seeing her younger sister in such state, especially after the news of......Ochi becoming one of the demons.
Reaching out and gently patted the girl's black colored hair, the Insect Hashira took a deep breath to keep the unwavering rage that was threatening to be released. She had to keep herself in control so she wouldn't scare Kumosu...
"I'm glad to see that you're doing okay, but I want you to be honest with us. Okay?" Shinobu cooed softly, then placing a gentle hand on Kumosu's chin and lifted her head up so she can face her. Kanao kept quiet, waiting patiently for the Hashira to continue speaking while keeping a gentle grasp on the younger girl's hand.
Kumosu only stood silent, feeling her body shaking a little from Shinobu's request of her being honest, but gave a small yet responsive nod. Her nose can easily catch the rage coming from the Insect Pillar, and she was secretly becoming scared of making her angry even more...
That's the last thing she needs...
"Where did you meet Ochi last?" Shinobu asked, removing her hand from the younger girl's chin so she can grab a tissue and wipe the tear stains from her cheeks.
"A few weeks ago. At the wisteria forest. I was comforting her myself...after an incident she had with a friend.." Kumosu responded after a few moments of staying silent. By 'friend', Kanao immediately knew who she was talking about.
"Okay, and what did she tell you before running off." Shinobu then asked, soon finishing wiping away Kumosu's face and throwing away the tissue. She was determined to find out everything, and Kumosu was the only person in the Kocho name who Ochi had trusted.
"The last thing Nee-Chan told me...was to send her greetings to the rookies after giving me the candy that made me lost my sense of smell.." Kumosu answered, feeling her heart shattering from the guilt that tears started flowing down her face. She never hated Ochi her entire life, but after what just happened that effected her completely in a sorrowful way, she just can't decide if she still has the same hope and sisterly love towards Ochi.
"I-I'm so sorry, Shinobu-San..! I kept a secret from all of you, yet you didn't get angry at me! Everything was my fault! If I haven't realized something seemed off, I would've told you! Now, Nee-Chan is gone and is now a demon! Have I...have I caused enough damage!?" Kumosu cried, not being able to maintain the tears that were continuing to spill out of her eyes.
Both Shinobu and Kanao stared at her in shock, their hearts breaking from seeing more of Kumosu's tears. She is only the youngest than anyone in the Kocho name, and she is never the one who shared such negative emotions.
After Kanae and Shinobu found her in the woods and took her to the Butterfly Estate, Kumosu continued to smile...
After Kanae was killed, Kumosu continued showing her positivity and was there to comfort Shinobu when she needed it most...
While Kanao wrapped her arms around the girl in a gentle embrace, Shinobu gently wiped her tears away with her thumbs and smiled in a comforting way that it eased the tension from the girl's shoulders.
"Kumosu...why would we be mad at you? You're only fourteen years old, and you never done anything wrong." Shinobu said softly, which made the young girl look up at her with confusion yet there was a hint of hope.
"I understand what you're going through, so please no more crying. It hurts me to see you upset like this.." She continued, soon joining the embrace in hopes of calming down Kumosu, which seemed to be working as she hugged them back, the tears soon going away.
"Shinobu-San? Kanao-Chan? If we find Ochi...will we bring her back home...and we can all live in peace again?" Kumosu asked, looking at her older sister with hopeful eyes once the three sisters broke the embrace. She may not forgive Ochi for putting her through such difficult and painful situation, but she still loved her.
Shinobu and Kanao stood quiet, not knowing how to answer her question. The hope in Kumosu's eyes......they just don't get it. After everything Ochi has done that made them lost their respect for her, Kumosu wanted her back? After forcing the young girl to keep a secret that completely broke her? Was she really this naive about forgiving Ochi?
"We don't know, Kumosu-Chan, but continue praying that things will be better. Forget about Ochi......for now." Shinobu responded, now standing up from the chair and gently patted Kumosu's head. "Get some rest. Kanao, I want you to come with me for a moment. Aoi, stay with Kumosu until we return." She said, walking out of the room with Kanao following.
Meanwhile......
//Quick note, this is from Amani's perspective of how she meets Occu (Ochi)!!!//
Running through the bushes, a small demon girl with fiery red hair named Amani was trying to find her way back to the Demon Slayer Corps where she can go back to her dear older siblings.
Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado....
How did she ended up in the dark forest, you ask?
Amani happened to wander off and away from the corps that neither her siblings or their friends took notice of her absence. Plus, she was as curious as a cat to go exploring, which backfired and she ended up lost. There she was, trying to find her way back with the help of her keen sense of smell.
However, as she ran and spotted a path that could help her, Amani ended up meeting a stranger who wore a straw hat to block the sun's light. This stranger had purple hair and multicolored eyes, and was also wearing a white hakama and a purple haori, but it was stained with red blood.
"Hello, little demon." He spoke, but Amani just stared up at him. Besides, the bamboo muzzle prevented her to say anything.
"Aren't you one of those sun-conquering demons?" He asked, sounding like as if he had just discovered something.
Amani continued staring, but slowly nodded her head in response.
""I'm supposed to bring you back to lord
Muzan. Here..." He crouched down to her level and showed her a few human hands, as if offering her candy. ""Want some? I can get you a blanket if you were to come with me back to Lord Muzan."
Instead of accepting the offer, Amani only growled at the humans hands and looked away in pure disgust, as if she was refusing. Unlike the other demons, both Amani and Nezuko were different.
They would never eat nor harm anyone....
Occu was shocked from this, not expecting to witness the small demon child refusing a specific food that helps them survive.
"You sure are stubborn. Tch, why are you denying something that we eat? Lord Muzan would end your life if you defy his orders.."
Upon hearing the name of the Demon King himself, Amani only growled more as if she was holding back the urge to go feral just by hearing Muzan's name.
The same man who killed her family....
The same man who turned both her and Nezuko into demons, which they broke free from his control....
The same man who Tanjiro swore to seek revenge against....
Occu then stood up, tucking the human hands in his pocket and had an intense stare. "I don't understand you....but you're starting to get on my nerves just by growling at me.." He spoke.
He couldn't remember if anything similar like that happened in his human life, but it's like he had encountered something familiar before...
What was it?
"Are you coming with me or not? I don't like wasting mine nor Lord Muzan's time." He said, resisting the urge to just pick her up and just carry her back to the Infinity Castle.
Amani didn't seem to trust the stranger, nor did she like the idea of meeting Muzan. All she needed to do was get back home to Tanjiro and Nezuko so they wouldn't worry.
They must be freaking out about her being missing!
They'll go look for her.......right?
