Best Friends
Her life hasn't always been great; she's been bullied, been put down, her grades have gotten lower as time had passed. From kindergarten to 6th grade she has been called names like 'baby', 'wimp', 'loser', even the occasional 'freak' or 'fatty'. She tried her best to fit in with the other kids, but it never seemed to work; she tried getting clothes that were "in style", she tried saying "cool words" that everyone else was saying, she did what other kids said in order to be "cool", but not even that seemed to work.
After many years of trying to fit in, she realized that the other kids weren't real friends and the girl gave up after entering 6th grade. By that time she has already gotten used to the fact she'll never have real friends. She has also gotten into the Pokémon series, as well as other anime series. She found them entertaining. Her favorite show to watch was Pokémon. Though she was happy, there, of course, were downsides to liking Pokémon.
When the Book Store was open at her school, she noticed a Pokémon guidebook. There wasn't much, it was about the size of a magazine, but she bought it anyways. When the classes finished buying stuff, the teachers allowed their students to read whatever book they bought, if they actually bought a book. The girl was sitting in the back of the classroom, quietly reading her guidebook when a small group of girls caught site of what she was reading. One of the girls called her out and said the Pokémon was for babies. Soon enough, the whole group started making fun of her, calling her a baby. Having enough of their bullying, the girl ran out of the classroom, tears streaming down her face.
'Why me?' She asked herself. 'Why is it me that everyone in this school hates? All I want is someone who I can talk to. Someone who gets me. Someone who likes me for who I am and not because I do stuff for them.'
Soon enough, the girl began to have thoughts. She'd imagine what everyone's life would be like if she wasn't around. She always wondered if she was just a waste of space. However, this didn't mean she was suicidal, she was too innocent to understand that kind of stuff. She understood that she would probably be alone forever, though. She had no one to talk to, except for her family, but they didn't like the same things she liked, so the girl thought it would be too awkward to have a conversation with them.
It wasn't until the day her mother signed her up to shadow at another school before 7th grade started that the girl's life changes. It was one of her best memories that she could never forget. She didn't know she was going to be in a different school with people she didn't know until her dad pulled up to the school. When her mother told her, she started to get nervous. At school, she's used to being bullied, so the girl didn't know what everyone would think of her. She thought no one would like her. Little did she know, she was in for a great surprise.
When the teacher introduced her to the class, the girl was surprised when everyone wanted her to sit at their table. She always sat alone at school (except when she had to be in group projects), so she thought she would just sit at a separate desk. When she sat at one of the group tables, she spent the first 5-10 minutes of class answering everyone's questions. For the first time in her, she felt...happy while in school. She didn't feel like a lone wolf here and no one was insulting her.
After that class ended, another girl walked up to her. The girl thought she was interesting. She wore the school uniform, she had her dark hair in three braids, and she noticed the other girl always seemed to draw in one of her notebooks.
"Hey, nice to meet you."
"Hi, nice to meet you, too."
Whenever the girl wasn't dragged off to hang out with the other students, she and the other girl would talk, so they didn't talk often. After lunch and recess, the teacher made the girl sit at a different table so she got to know the students some more. It just happened to be the same table where the other girl sat.
Class was half over when the girl's mother came to pick her up. She was upset that she didn't get to stay the whole school day; she wanted to get to know the other girl she met.
As she was getting ready to leave, everyone was saying their goodbyes to her. Before she left, the other girl she's been trying to talk to handed her a piece of paper. Looking at the paper, the girl was surprised. It was a drawing.
It was a cartoon drawing of little, yellow bunny, hopping. There were words on there, but the girl couldn't remember even if she wanted to today since memories take up a lot of space. But the girl will never forget this, her first gift from someone who isn't a family member. To this day, the girl has that picture in one of her old memory binders.
The girl had decided to go the that school for the rest of middle school, wanting to meet that other girl again. When it was time to go back to school, the girl realized that, for the first time in forever, she was excited to go back to school. After having the chance to make a friend, a real friend, she wanted to go to school.
After about a week or so, both girls met each other again and really hit it off. It turned out that the other girl was also into anime and was just as big of a Pokémon fan. The other girl had inspired her to go back to drawing, but she stuck to drawing animals. She was also introduced to the world of fanfiction. Though, it took her about a year to get the hang of it since the she ran into some....interesting stories from time-to-time.
After being through all the good times and the bad times in their last two years of middle school, these two have become more than just friends; they became Best Friends.
Soon, when it was almost the end of their freshman year of high school, these two besties have someone else joining their small group. It was Spirit Week that week, Red & Gold day to be exact. The two decided to wear the Pikachu sweaters they got each other on Christmas. At the end of the day, when they were walking to the girl's locker, they noticed that someone else was wearing a Pikachu sweater, in fact, it was exactly the same one! All three stopped in the middle of the hallway and stared at each other, as was everyone else passing by. It was at that moment that they knew they would get along well with each other.
Now, to this day, all three of them have considered each other as sisters. All the inside jokes, parties, sleepovers, everything they've done together, all the memories, they will cherish forever.
Now, you readers may be wondering or have already guessed who the main girl was in this little story.
Well, that girl is me.
Those two other girls are my best friends Dragon-kid789 and yellowtigger2 a.k.a., DK and Yellow.
Guys, you two and I have been through Heaven and Hell and have helped each other through every step of the way and for that, I thank you.
You guys have helped me through the few times I've been depressed. You didn't see me as the shy, awkward girl I used to be. You saw me as a person. You didn't turn your backs on me, instead you welcomed me with open arms. I'm happy to have you guys as Best Friends, as the sisters I never had. I love you guys.
