Double D's P.O.V

I know I'm usually all about school and education and stuff. But I'm actually relieved that it's Saturday, I finished all of my homework this morning and now I have the whole entire place to myself. My parents called and said that they weren't coming home after all. I kind of figured, I haven't seen them in almost a year. I don't mind that their coming later than expected. I've waited almost a year for them to come home, what's another week, or two, or 10.

I was doing one of my all time favourite things besides reading, writing, and studying my insects. Binge watching re-runs of old t.v shows.

It was a close call yesterday, Ed and Eddy almost found out my secret, but I've been thinking about what he said all night. That friends should tell each other everything, maybe it isn't fair that I'm keeping stuff from them. I mean, I've known them for years, and they still have no clue that I'm a chick. I was thinking about telling them, but I'm worried. I don't know how they would take it. Would they still like me? Would they treat me differently? I'm pretty sure Eddy wouldn't be so rough with me if he knew.
And maybe Ed's bone crushing hugs would be slightly less bone crushing. What's the worse that can happen? I'll tell them tomorrow morning. That way if it all goes wrong, I can avoid them all day and face them on Monday at lunch.

Just then my phone went off. I picked it up and read the text message.

From 416-893-8484: meet me by the creek at the tallest tree

I don't recognize this number.

Edd: I think you have the wrong number bud

416-893-8484: are you Eddelynn?

*gasp!* they know my name! My real name that is.

Should I go? I mean, it never ends well in horror movies. I'm sure there are no serial killers in peach creek. But just incase, I'm bringing my switch blade, I bought it after reading The Outsiders.

Whoever they are, they know I'm a girl so I may not have to dress up. But on the other hand, I can't risk going out in public not dressed up. I put on my hat and a really baggy shirt. I didn't feel like putting on my binder. Too much work for someone who knows who I really am. I figured if I ride on my bike really fast and pray no ones outside to see me. And if they are, I can scream really loud for them to get out of my way.

It may be a stupid plan. I feel as though I lost a lot of brain cells during the past couple of years. Maybe it's because I hangout with Ed too much. You can't really see a lot of my curves with this extra large sweatshirt. I grabbed my bike and started riding as fast as I can. Unfortunately Sarah and Jimmy were outside playing with a jump rope. I screamed at the top of my lungs for them to move and rung the bell on my bike non-stop. The two kids ran away in different directions screaming. I rode all the way to the creek, when I got to the big tree I dropped my bike and fell on the grass breathing heavily.

"Who ever you are, I'm here." I said catching my breath.

"You look cute when you're tired~"

"Ahh!" I looked up to see Marie. "Marie! You scared me!" She smiled at me and sat down. "Wait, were you the one who texted me?" She nodded. "Why did you use an anonymous number?"

"It's not, it's my new number, I broke my phone."

"Again? How?"

"I got mad at Lee and threw my phone at her." She laughed and scratched had back of her neck. I scooted a bit closer to her. "So? How are things?" I asked her.

"Good, good, you?"

"Same, things are good. So, when are you coming back to school? The year is almost over, summer is almost here, the weather is getting hotter and everything."

"I don't know, the school life just isn't for me."

"Duh, the school life isn't for anyone. But, it's not the same without you, I would really like it if you came." I gave her a soft smile.

"You would?" I saw her cheeks tint pink after I said that.

"Yeah, I ..I miss you."

"If it makes you happy, I can go back on Monday."

"R-really? You'll come back for me?"

"Of course." She put her arm around me. "Wanna come back to my place?" I nodded and followed her. When we got there we went up to her room that she shared with her sisters and went onto her bed. "You can take off your hat, it's only the two of us now." I took off my hat and let my hair fall down. "Your hair is so soft and pretty." She said feeling my hair.

"Thank you Marie." I said with a smile and a blush. "Marie?"

"Mhm?"

"I'm thinking about telling Ed and Eddy."

"Mm, Telling them what exactly?"

"You know, that I'm a girl and stuff."

"Wow, are you sure you wanna do that?"

"Why? You think it's a bad idea?"

"No, it's just you haven't told anyone about this. I was just asking if you were ready."

"I think I should, I mean, we are friends, and Eddy seemed upset yesterday when I said no to taking my hat off."

"They're just curious, I'm pretty sure everyone is. But if you want to tell them it's your call." She put her hand over mine. "If you want me to come with you when you tell them, I can."

"Thanks, but no thanks, I think I should do this alone."

"Ok, but if you need anything, you know where to find me."

"Thank you Marie." I gave her a hug.

"No problem" she said hugging me back.
