-Part 14-

Kankri watched you from the corner of his eye. Earlier today he'd practically begged you to accompany him when he visited his brother and father. He mentioned how different the three of them are, and how unnecessarily triggering the other two could be. He hoped you would be the perfect distraction to keep him from arguing with his brother for hours.

An annoyed looking troll boy with candy corn horns opened the door angrily, almost with enough force to rip it off the hinges. His gaze softened slightly when he saw Kankri.

"COME IN OR WHATEVER." The troll walked away from the door, leaving it open. He didn't seem too fazed by the two of you.

"Your brother?" You glanced over at Kankri.

"Indeed," he sighed.

As you stepped into the house, an older looking troll with a stubbly black beard and matching messy black hair stepped out in front of the two of you. He appeared to be wearing a long, brown cloak. The hood of the cloak covered his face if he turned to the side. Poking out the top of the hood where two horns, matching that of his two sons. Now that you thought about it, he looked exactly like Kankri. They all looked exactly the same, the thought was making your head hurt.

"Hello there, I'm Signless Vantas."

Signless extended his hand out for you to shake. He seemed to have an inner conflict on how exactly to greet you, glancing at Kankri and then back at you. You laughed and shook his hand.

 "Hello Signless, I'm (Y/N)."

Signless smiled, releasing your hand after giving it a warm shake with both hands. His hands were rough, a complete opposite to your soft, warm ones. He almost gasped at how soft your hands were, but did his best not to embarrass Kankri by letting go and stepping back a bit, eyes trailing off of you and back to Kankri.

 "Welcome home Kankri."

--------------- Timeskip brought to you by the age old question... Is Vriska a furry?-----------------------

After what felt like an hour of twenty one questions, you finally knew all there was to know about the Vantases. Kankri seemed bored to death after he ran out of possible triggers to point out and Karkat had passed out in the chair across from you. But as for Signless, well the two of you actually managed to hold a pretty lengthy conversation.

Signless talked mostly about how he protested along side many other Alternian trolls with low blood class. They all wanted equality, and unfortunately, they had to fight for it. You nodded sadly when he told you this. It seems to be a story very similar to many stories of struggle, people fighting for equal rights. It's not even fighting to be better than one and other, it's fighting to be EQUAL, and that's upsetting. Singless seemed to get sidetracked from the conversation however and began to talk about his matesprit The Disciple. It was honestly all pretty confusing, considering they were all supposed to be dead in a way...

"Ah, anyway, I'm blabbering," Signless rose from his seat. "Would anyone like something to eat?"

You glanced outside the window, now noticing it was dark outside. You assumed it was probably late. Karkat agreed about as nicely as he could before signless disappeared around the corner, heading to their kitchen. Kankri glanced at you from beside you. He watched as you rested your head on your hand, attempting to find a comfortable position.

"Hey Kankri," You broke the silence. "Are you staying the night here?"

 "Indeed."

"Do you..." You made eye contact with the troll beside you, blushing after a moment and peeling your eyes away to stare at the table. "Do you mind if I stay here with you? It's already pretty late, and I'm not great at driving in the dark."

 "I was actually g9ing t9 ask if y9u wanted t9 stay, but I did n9t want t9 p9tentially trigger y9u 9r distract y9u fr9m the c9nversati9n y9u were having," he smiled to himself.

"HE MEANS IT'S FINE," Karkat interrupted. "SIGNLESS ALREADY EXPECTED YOU TO STAY HERE ANYWAY EVERYTHING'S ORGINISED OR WHATEVER," he sighed, "WE'VE GOT MOVIES AND SHIT IF YOU FUCKASSES WANT TO WATCH THEM."

"Language Karkat." Kankri's white eyes stared daggers into Karkat who only rolled his own white eyes back at his brother.

 "WHATEVER."

--------------------Timeskip brought to you by Kankri's super shiny trigger whistle------------------------

Since there wasn't really much to do, you and Kankri had decided to take Karkat's suggestion seriously. But the only problem was finding a movie that everyone would actually want to watch so it wouldn't just become background noise, along with a movie that didn't have potential triggers. You were hoping that you would be able to watch the movie without a long trigger rant to distract you. As much as you loved hearing Kankri talk about what he was passionate about, it got annoying at times.

 "How about this one?"

Disk cases were lying all over the floor. You stretched over some of them and picked up one that caught your eye. The Vantases didn't have Netflix, so making a mess with disks was the only choice you had as you continued to dig through their movie cabinet like you were looking for hidden treasure. There were many troll movies in there and you couldn't understand a word of Alternian, so you had dedicated a pile to 'movies I don't understand and will probably ask Kankri about when I'm done digging.'

"I d9n't kn9w, I read this human '6lur6' that was 9n the back, and it has s9me p9tentially triggering themes."

"What might those be?" You glanced at the back of the case and then back at Kankri.

Kankri's grey cheeks flushed with red. His eyes widened as they roamed the disk case. "Well... It is a 'r9m c9m.'"

"Oh."

Kankri nodded, watching as you bit down on your bottom lip in thought and instantly forcing his eyes to look somewhere else, cheeks flushing with an even brighter shade of red and tugging at the neck of his sweater to hide his cheeks.

"Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you reading something worse when I met you?"

"That was different, I was 'pranked' 6y Cr9nus," he made a face.

"Since when did you trust him?"

"That was the first time," Kankri put down the disk case. "And m9st definitely the last."

You laughed at the thought. Kankri must have been determined to finish the book, thinking it was about troll culture or some inspiring book about a friendship between humans and trolls way back in Singless' time or something cool like that, only to find out it was about whips and other.. interesting things.

"Let's just try this one, If it's triggering, we can turn it off," you sighed, finally getting sick of searching for disks and piling them back up in the cabniet in hopes of making it look nearly as neat as it did before.

"GREAT IDEA, YOU WERE TAKING FOR FUCKING EVER I WAS GETTING SO SICK OF WAITING," Karkat interrupted, sinking into the sofa across from you and Kankri with a huge drink and bowl of popcorn in hand.

 "Karkat, language!"
