First Poem

I am the alpha

The leader of seven

My head held high

My tail stiff behind me

My fur the color of midnight

My gaze fierce upon my prey

Dread fills the air

I lunge. Snapping its neck was easy

The pack howls with joy

I hunted and fed them.

As an alpha should

The pups whined eagerly

I snapped my jaws in warning

Alpha eats first

There weren't any poisons

I signaled them to feast

Content growls filled the air

Blood covered my maw

I licked my chops clean. I scanned the area for danger

The others finished quickly

My hackles rose as I detected a threat

The beta snarled. He smelled them too

Humans were here

Their weapons deadly and ready

The feather-fall of snow flew with the gust of wind

Beneath my paws, the earth hummed

I lifted my head and bellowed

A warning to stay away

I must protect my pack. My family,

Fenrir, every alpha's Alpha

Graced me with this title

The omega gathered the pups

Close in between the higher ranked

I set out steadily

The scent of rust filled my nose

They're closer

The gamma shifted restlessly

Tension filled the air like breaths

Our claws dug into the whiteness

Our pace slow and cautious

Shouts caused my pointed ears to flatten

They're much closer now

My pack is scared

I was scared

Using my power, I made them leave

I stayed behind

I ran toward the threat

I startled them

I flashed my teeth

A growl shook my frame

I will lead them away

I will protect the pack

A human raised his weapon

My tail rose as well

A loud noise sounded

I yelped in pain

My shoulder burned like acid

Whines escaped me. They were pitiful to hear

Another human hit the man on the arm

They argued

It reminded me of rabid wolves

"No!" I think the human said

"What?" Protested the violent one

"It's an alpha!"

"It takes care of many!"

"I do not care!" I grew frightened

What if I do not make it?

What if they go after my pack?

I made the decision then. I attacked

My teeth drew blood. They screamed

Something pierced my side

It burned like fire-spitting in a bed of wood. I've been shot

I dropped to the ground

Red tainting the white

My vision dimmed. I let out a weak howl

I listened. My pack answered

They will be safe. I'd make sure of it

My body relaxed. And I thought to myself

Is this what alphas are for?

I welcomed my fate, the embrace of darkness
