I am Elizabeth Willow Salvitore.  I am in my senior year of high school. I live in a normal world with an abnormal life. I have a werewolf gene.

My family all have a werewolf gene except for my father's side of the family. Very few of us have activated it. My best friend, Sydney Scarlett Anderson, is a werewolf, she activated her curse on accident. Her boyfriend, Ian, is a vampire. His sister just turned 95 and she was two when he got turned. Then there's Cylus, he has the werewolf gene but was just recently turned into a vampire. He's been trying really hard not to kill anyone so he won't trigger his curse.

Britney is a vampire, I don't know when she turned. She is popular as well as pretty and stuck up. She's obviously a new vampire, considering the way she acts. She was my friend before she was turned. After she was turned she decided a couple wolves weren't good enough for her, and moved on to another vampire named Stella. Stella's older than Britney but not by much. The act about the same and aren't very nice to any of us wolves.

As I walked to my next class with Sydney, Ian appeared behind us and grabbed sydney by the waist. It startled us and we both got into a fighting stance. "Woah calm down it's just me!" Says Ian. We both relax, "You scared the crap out of us!" I screamed at him. Sydney rolls her eyes at him and we keep walking down the hallway. We come to an intersection in the hallway, I go left and Ian gives Sydney a kiss on the cheek and goes down the right hallway. Sydney runs to catch up with me, "Why must he do that every time you guys go down separate hallways?" I ask her. She just rolls her eyes at me and goes down the hallway faster. She then stops abruptly and I almost run into her. "Sydney why'd yo-" I cut myself off abruptly as I realize why she stopped.

Cylus walks from the opposite way into the classroom. Cylus and Sydney don't talk, not just because they hate each other but because Ian is the one who turned Cylus into a vampire. We enter the classroom and I find my seat. Half way through our science lab Sydney and Cylus get into a giant fight about god knows what. I can't take it so I plug my ears and close my eyes.

When class ends I walk out of the classroom as fast as I can. I bump into someone and look to see who it was and to say sorry when I realize it's Britney. My eyes go wide and I can't move or speak. "Watch where you're going freak!" She exclaims, everyone looks as she pushes me into the lockers. I drop my stuff and she laughs wickedly and walks away. I drop to the ground and pick up my stuff, I half run to my locker, get my backpack and walk out to the bus. I get home go straight to my room, lay on my bed and cry.

I hate everything about my life, my gene, their fights, Britney, my secrets. Why do I even try any more?

When I wake up I'm tied to a chair. I try to move but the ropes on my arms and legs burn. They must have soaked the ropes in wolf's bane. But how would they- I was struck out of my thoughts as the door to the room opened and a bright light shot through the door. The door was shut and when my eyes adjusted I could see the face of my kidnapper. It was... Britney? Why would she kidnap me?

"Oh good you're awake!"calls Britney. "What-" Britney cuts me off, "Stella come in here" the door opens again and in comes Stella. "Why would yo-" Britney cuts me off again. "Stella would you give this to Elizabeth?" Stella hesitates to grab a glass off a nearby table. "Now!" Britney yells. Stella grabs the glass and comes toward me. "Open" I keep my mouth shut. She sighs and gets down to my level then asks me again, "open your mouth" my mouth opens even though I try my hardest to keep it closed. Mind control, how could I have forgotten. She dumps the liquid into my mouth and tells me to swallow. It tastes bitter and as I swallow it I realize, it's blood, vampire blood. "No," I exclaim, "no, no, no, no!" "Now say goodnight" calls Britney as she snaps my neck.

I wake up still tied to the chair. I look around the room to see no one. I realize that my transition is not yet complete, if I don't feed by the end of the day I will die. But then again I don't want to be a vampire either. But do I really want to die?

The door to the room opens, Britney comes in with another girl I don't know, with Stella behind them. Britney tells the girl to stay put in the middle of the room and not to speak. Stella comes over to me and unites my ropes. I get up and run toward the door but Britney vamps in front of it before I can get there. She gives I slight nod to Stella and Stella bites into the girls neck then leaves and walks to the door and stands next to Britney. Britney then vamps next to the girl, stands behind her grabs her by her hair a tilts her head to expose her bleeding neck. She slides her finger along the girls bleeding neck and tastes her blood. "Mmmmmm" she mumbles, "yummy" and gives me a look.

The urge to drain every ounce of blood from her body overwhelms me so I turn away. But the urge is too strong, I turn around so slowly it feels like slow motion. I run and drink from the girls neck, the hunger takes over and I can't stop. She falls to the floor in a heap of flesh and bones. She's dead...... and I killed her.

I killed someone. I killed someone. My curse. I activated my curse. I snap into rage, I vamp to Britney but she grabs my hand before I can punch her. "Tsk, tsk, tsk, I'm older than you" she says. "I'm not afraid of you anymore," I say, "werewolf bites are deadly to vampires" her face goes pale. "Thanks for helping me activate my curse, now I can do this." I bite her on the neck and she screams. Stella stands in shock then I vamp out of the room.

After I tell Sydney everything that's happened, she texts Ian and I text Cylus. Sydney met with Ian and met with Cylus. We meet at the park in minutes. It's awkward so I start, "so I'm a hybrid now." "Yeah" he replies. "Do you have any advice for me?" I ask. He stays silent staring at the ground. "I hate everything" I exclaim, " my life, who I am, I hate everything!" I start to cry and he reaches out and wipes the tear off my cheek. He comes in close and looks me in the eye, "your perfect," he tells me, "your beautiful and funny, and the most amazing girl I've ever met." He smiles, and I can't help but smile too.

At school the next day I'm walking to my class and I realize, Cylus was right. I'm beautiful just the way I am, I have no reason to be ashamed of myself I should embrace myself, not tear myself down. I'm gonna live my life with no regrets. I'm gonna live strong, the way l want to.
