»»----- Chapter Thirty-Three -----««
Author's POV
The evening was draped in a velvety orange light as Y/N found herself in the enchanting garden, surrounded by the ethereal presence of BTS.
Taehyung, usually the embodiment of charisma, sat apart, his eyes fixed on Y/N. His heart raced uncontrollably whenever she came into view. This has been happening to him for a good few days now; he'd see her anywhere, and then he'd just lose his mind as his heart started to go crazy. Days of silent torment had taken residence in his soul, and the weight of his emotions burdened him.
BTS came near him, seeing how quiet he was; they knew something was up. They all looked at Taehyung, only to look back at themselves. Taehyung kept up the staring competition with the boys until he finally gave up and blurted out what was going on in his head.
"Ok, yeah, I love her."
The BTS members looked at him confused as Yoongi slowly spoke up, "Well, all of a sudden?"
Taehyung looked at him and asked, "Does it have to happen over time?"
Yoongi was about to speak up when Jin figured out the facts.
"That's right! You know how you can't really listen to her thoughts? That means that you had started to feel something for her way before you brought her here. It happens when you're connected to someone. You told us that you couldn't listen to her thoughts or control her. That means that you have feelings for her, and that's how your love for her counterattacked your own powers."
"Well, that's one thing sorted out, but I'll have to let her go because she's a threat because she has powers and we don't know how powerful she might be, and on top of that, her parents killed my parents. How can I possibly forget that?" Taehyung questioned himself as hints of defeat reeked from his voice.
Jin, being the eldest of them all, tells Taehyung the history of the Dark World. "Taehyung-ah, do you know the history of the Dark World?"
"Ummmmm, nope, but how is it exactly related to my situation?"
The Lord of Beauty huffed at the Dark Lord's audacity. "So much for being king. Well, many years ago, even before the seven regions of the Dark World, there were two kingdoms in this realm: the Grim Kingdom and the Kingdom of Everlasting Darkness. Both kings of these two kingdoms fought each other for full control. One thing they didn't know was that their vengeance for each other would be outweighed by the love their daughter and son had for each other. The princess of the Grim Kingdom and the prince of the Kingdom of Everlasting Darkness both fell in love with each other. The two kings had to reunite both kingdoms and accept their children's love. The two kingdoms united to form the most majestic, most powerfully demonic kingdom, which we now know as the Dark World. Our Dark World. Soon, six regions were pulled together in the Dark World, which suited the needs of different demons, like the northern for destruction and the central for lust. All the regions had a different ruler, but on top of that, the whole realm was ruled by the prince and princess, who were at last the king and queen."
"Ooooo..." Jungkook ooed in fascination. "So we are the rulers because of our family lineage, and that means that..."
Jin confirmed the youngest's doubt: "Yup, the prince and princess were Taehyung's parents. The war was broken between his grandfathers, and the hatred between them was utterly dark. All the citizens of both kingdoms hated each other without even knowing the real cause of the wars; they just went on and hated. However, the prince and princess had nothing to do with the war breaking out, and so their love had no restrictions. Their love was so pure that it broke through every hate, every grudge, and every societal barrier between the two kingdoms. The kingdoms broke into joy when your parents got married and the Dark World was formed; however, your grandfathers had different plans. Before your parents were crowned, only one of your grandfathers could sit on the throne of the Dark World, where you sit now. Them reuniting was only a sickly plan to have the whole realm to themselves, and so one day, they killed each other at the same time while trying to attack one another for the throne."
Taehyung sat still and quiet as he took in the new information that he was exposed to.
"Wait, let me get this clear." Namjoon lifted his hand up, connecting all the dots to the information. "Taehyung's grandfathers fought for control over both kingdoms; their kids started loving each other, and so they got them married to purposefully reunite the kingdoms, only to have it all to themselves? And you mean that both had the same plans and killed each other at the same time? But how is that possible?"
"I didn't believe that either when my dad told me this story when I was a kid too." Jin continued. "What happened was that one night, both the kings were walking around at night and talking casually, and after their talk was over, they decided to head off to sleep. When they hugged each other to say good night, the King's father pierced a dagger into the Queen's father's back, and the Queen's father wore armour with lethal spikes. When he was stabbed, he harshly grabbed the king's father closer to him, which resulted in all the spikes puncturing his body. They both died at the same time for the same thing."
Taehyung's brain clicked in realisation. "That's why Eomma and Appa never told me about my grandparents whenever I asked about them. They didn't want me to discover the disgusting history of our family. Even about the war, I never knew about it, and nobody ever told me. Not even Gong Yoo."
Yoongi spoke up in a voice filled with concern. "Taehyung-ah, they all might have been trying to protect you from the truth because they knew that it might affect you later on. Like now that you're king, you'd feel that your close ones are trying to hurt you."
"I trust all of you, even with my eyes closed. Especially Gong Yoo; he knows me better than I even know myself. He's like a father to me. Then what happened after my grandfather died?"
Jin continued with the gruesome history of the Dark World. "Well, their deaths were for the kingdom; your parents were king and queen, and so they decided that the Dark World would stay as one forever and wouldn't be split in two again. Our grandparents were the ones to take care of people who had different powers, and they were only taking care of the Dark World, making sure that there was equal balance between their people. As for the deaths of the two, some also believed that the king and queen's impossible love caused a disaster like this to happen, and so that's how you were cursed. For love, a heart beats. At a loss, the heart stops. That's what your curse was."
"So all this was my parents' fault?" Taehyung's voice cracked as he questioned his elders about his curse.
"No taehyung." Hoseok stepped in, clearing his biggest misunderstanding. "It wasn't your parents' fault. Your grandfathers were truly at fault. They were the ones to fight for the kingdom; your parents didn't have anything to do with it. They killed each other for the throne, and your parents had nothing to do with it. Even when you were cursed, your parents had nothing to do with it. But it's not your fault to think this way. Everything happened in such a misleading way that people thought that it was actually your parents' fault."
Taehyung went completely silent as the heart in his chest played a steady rhythm.
"Does all the history class for today ring any bells in your head as to why we're telling you this?" Jimin questioned him as he finally saw Taehyung's face clear up from his doubts.
Taehyung looked up at the boys as he slowly nodded his head up and down. "Just like how the wars, the deaths, and my curse were not my parents' fault, my parents' deaths are not Y/N's fault. It was her parents who killed my parents. She had nothing to do with it."
A small tear rolled down his left eye as the black crows went wild and screeches tore the silent air. He wiped his tears and lifted his right hand up to the sky. The crows stopped. Black crows were the first and closest ones to notice any changes in Taehyung's behaviour. He felt bad and even shed a tear, which meant a lot. He has never felt this bad for a very long time. The last was when his parents died.
"I was wrong. I was so wrong, Hyung. Whether or not she has powers, the only reason I actually had her here was because of my thirst for revenge for my parents. I couldn't think straight. What do I do now? She hates me for betraying her; she wouldn't even look at me. What do I even say? How do I know what she feels for me? I blew it up." Taehyung put his head down in disappointment.
"Oh, don't worry, I can do that for you." Yoongi turned his back to the boys and started heading towards Y/N. Who knows what's going on inside his head?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N held the necklace in her hand as she sat near a twisted tree and looked at the necklace multiple times.
She doesn't know why, but whenever she looks at the necklace, she feels a weird tingling sensation in her body. It never happened before, but it's started happening ever since she's gotten into the dark world. Looking over the Dark World from the garden, she always had a fierce and overpowering feeling in her, as if something was trying to take over. Something was trying to come out. She had noticed this the day she went out for a walk with Jungkook. The day she was taken away by Trevor, that feeling vanished when she found herself woken up in the realm of Garzooka. She felt that something was different between the two realms that had a different effect on her.
She saw Yoongi walking towards her, so she quickly put the necklace inside her dress pocket. He sat next to her and looked at her dress pocket.
"That's Jay B's necklace, isn't it?"
"Don't even say his name in front of me. I hate that man to the guts, and how did you know?" Y/N asked Yoongi, who shuffled around to make himself comfortable.
"Well, at the night of the royal ball, he asked you about his necklace, so I assume that's the same necklace you have in there," he said as he pointed to the pocket.
"Aren't you guys eager to have it or something? I remember quite well that GOT7 are your rivals. Or was it just for Earth?" She had to know who was what in the different worlds.
"No, they are actually our rivals here as well. Nothing's changing that."
"So what are they? You know, you guys are demons; Trevor was a werewolf. What are they?"
"Vampires." Yoongi gave the girl a short reply.
"Ah yes, fangs, lodged in the necks, lethal, punctured." She started zoning out and blurting out words as she recalled her parents' situation.
"Anyway...." Yoongi interrupted her, pulling her out of her disturbing thoughts. "We don't really need that necklace because we have our own." He pulled his shirt's neck down a bit to expose the teardrop-shaped pearly necklace hanging around his neck. "See?"
He let go of his shirt and continued, "And we don't have any use of it. Remember on Earth you saw it with Taehyung when you were suspiciously knocked out and left at his door? He took the necklace from you, and we got Gong Yoo to check it out. He said that it's Got7's, and it's not going to get us anything. Before we could decide anything else, Taehyung took it from us and gave it back to you because he wanted Got7 to find you back then."
"Back then, huh? He wanted them to find me and kill me. That evil person." Her heart pinched her a little as she said those words.
"Anyway, what do you think about that evil person now?
"What do you mean?" Y/N crooked her eyebrows in confusion.
The Lord of Elements clarified his question. "I mean, does he still look like the same evil person, or is he better now?"
"To be honest, you were my close friend on Earth, and I feel that I can still trust you. I had actually fallen for him. I fell hard and deep—so deep that I never wanted to get out—but then, you know what happened. It felt as if it was all fake love. He didn't really love me." The girl lowered her gaze after she finished talking.
"But do you still love him?"
Y/N turned her gaze from Yoongi to Taehyung, who sat at quite a distance. Her calm silence and the glow in her eyes clearly told Yoongi her answer. He got up and told her to enjoy the scene; he'd be back.
"Don't you dare tell him, Yoongi, or I'll find out about your weaknesses and target them. I can be evil at times too."
Yoongi laughed as he continued to walk towards Taehyung. He stopped in his tracks and turned his head slightly towards Y/N. "Extinguished flames."
"Huh?"
Yoongi then slowly started, "Extinguished flames. They're my weakness. I'm the Lord of Elements, and fire is my biggest effect; if you extinguish them, I'm powerless for a while. But trust me, you won't be able to turn out my flames."
"Yah!!" Y/N shouted
He continued to walk towards the guys; they straightened up in awareness as they saw the Lord of Elements appear before them.
Taehyung looked at him full of eagerness, as his life depended on it.
"Sooooo?" Jimin inquired.
"Taehyung, what do you see in her eyes when she looks at you?" Yoongi asked him
Everybody understood the signal as they tried to hide their cheeks from blushing and bursting. They knew that Yoongi was questioning Taehyung so that he could realise himself about Y/N's feelings.
"All I see is pain, hurt, and anger." Taehyung gently traced his gaze at Y/N and then back to the boys.
"My boy, have you looked deeper?" Hoseok asked, trying to help him dig deeper.
"What do you mean?" The Dark Lord shook his head.
"We mean, do you ever see anything else in her eyes when she looks at you?" Namjoon placed both his hands out as if he were pleading desperately.
Taehyung slowly shook his head with a pout. "Not that I know of."
"Please let me beat the shit out of him." Jungkook turned to his hyungs triumphantly.
"What are you guys talking about?"
"You annoying rascal. Did you see anything in her eyes when you went to save her from Trevor?!" Jin roughly snapped at him.
"I saw tired eyes as if she hadn't slept for days, but she was only taken away for a few hours." He muttered quietly.
"Jungkook, beat him." Jimin spoke as Jungkook cracked his knuckles.
"What do you mean? Can you guys talk clearly?" the King demanded a clear answer.
"How are you even the king when you can't even answer fucking simple questions?" Jungkook grunted.
"Pay attention, Taehyung-ah. Did she ever look at you in a different way?" Jin came closer and asked him.
"She did look at me differently when I started kneeling in front of Trevor, but that was only to trick him."
Namjoon got eager as he saw the king slowly reaching the main point. "Yes, what did she look like?" He encouraged the king to think harder.
"She looked like she was mentally stunned because I was kneeling for her. She looked different, and her colour was quite flushed. She looked different but... irresistibly beautiful."
"Anything else before or after that?" Hoseok inquired.
"Well, before I got into the whole situation, I went to get her out of the cellar that she was in, and I don't know which demon took over me when I suddenly kneeled down to her and hugged her."
All the members looked at him, really stunned, willing for him to continue talking.
"And she hugged me back?"
"Taehyung-ah, and what do you think that hug, that flustering face, that different look, and those eyes meant? I mean, she never looks at us that way." Hoseok helped him finally connect the dots together.
"Well, that means that—*dramatically gasps*—she likes me too."
"She doesn't like you; she loves you, man. So go on and tell her. The sooner, the better." The Lord of Lust advised him, being the expert that he is.
"But she still feels that I betrayed her." The discouragement could be heard clearly in Taehyung's voice. "She was betrayed in love. I don't think I can do this."
"You have to..." Jimin calmingly whispered to him.
"Do it for the sake of your love for her."
