The Woods
The walk was long and when I reached the woods I was tired and the mosquitos were begging to feast upon my blood as if I was a buffet. I pulled out a jacket a size too small with a slowly growing hole in the armpit. I put it on to help protect myself from the little bloodsuckers. The Alabama summer night was unforgiving. I started sweating from every pore. I kept moving hoping to see some sign for the House for Us. Finally, exhaustion started to take over. I curled up next to a tree and fell asleep using my bag as a pillow. I woke up to the forest birds greeting each other with songs. I stood up and looked around confused for just a moment on where I was. I walked into the woods in hopes to find a fairy, nymph, or even a gnome. Then I heard soft fluttering above me. I looked up to see a tiny village of butterfly fairies doing their morning routines. I called out," Hello up there! I'm looking for the House for Us organization?"
I waited for some kind of answer. Right, when I was about to call out again a fairy flew down to me. He had the wings of a Monarch butterfly, and he was holding a small sword," Welcome to the monarch village. You say you are looking for the House for Us Organization?"
I nodded.
He thought for a second," It is in these woods down a large gravel road off of the main road. If I remember correctly keep walking east."
Then he flew up back to his village. I took his directions and started walking east. I took off my jacket as it got hotter in the day. When the sun was in the middle of the sky I took a break under a magnolia tree. I really wanted some water. I pulled a water bottle out of my bag and took the last few sips out of it. The water was warm yet heavenly. I put the bottle away just in case I came by a source of water. I kept going to finally find a large gravel road about a mile away from the tree. I hoped it was the correct road. I began walking down it. The forest thickened around me. Finally, I came to a gate with a buzzer. I pressed the button to speak," Uh...hello? I got a letter informing me to come down here. It was golden and stuff."
The gates opened to reveal a large fenced in mansion with a perfectly trimmed lawn. I stepped in and walked to the door. The gate shut behind, me and I felt vulnerable and a little afraid. I rung the doorbell and dug the letter out of my bag as I waited.
A tall man opened the door," Who are you?"
"Braylin Aaron sir. I got this letter."
I handed it to him and he took it out and read over it. He then held it in the sun. He looked so," yep legit."
