Chapter 7:
-Saybelle-
I stared at the walls of library. My bare feet dangled off the armrest of the chair. My life and family was a mess. Gabriella was doing better, and able to visit Adrienne, I don't know why she refused, they both kept so many secrets from me. I knew Adrienne was technically our half sibling, but she was our sister, and it never bothered me.
Adrienne was still in her room, I had heard her crying this afternoon when I walked past, I was going to visit her but that seemed like a bad idea at that moment.
So instead I was in the library. Staring at the wall. Books lined the shelves but I wasn't interested. Books could only provide so much entertainment. To me, they were kind of boring sometimes, especially certain plot lines. I hated romance, the girls were always waiting for a Prince, it was just ugh.
I got up off the chair and paced, back and forth. Nerves riled up inside me, I didn't know why that was.
My hand instinctively went to my side, black ugly stitches covered the gash in my side, fuck you Victor. But there was a good side to this, because of my injury, the doctor said I couldn't wear tight fitting clothes, he was worried I would reopen up the cut. The last few days I had only been wearing sweatshirts and shorts.
Technically I had Clarinet lessons at the moment, but I couldn't imagine doing anything more boring than that. So I had skipped. For the first time in my life, it felt freeing. I was finally in control of my body, no clarinet, no tight clothes, just me.
Instead of Clarinet, I could do something more useful, like write, Elle's story needed an end eventually. I was only halfway finished.
My heels clicked against the hard marble as I walked back to my room.
"I like you better when you show off that nice curvy body." Someone whispered.
What the fuck. I turned around, but no one was there.
Shivers traveled along my spine, what a creep. I felt sick to my stomach. Eyes seared the back of my neck, I turned around again, still no one. This seemed like the start to a horror movie and I was not going there today.
I broke off in a sprint, darn, heels sucked for running. My ankle wobbled and hit the floor. Ouch! Searing pain went up my leg. I hated heels, but now more than ever. "Is anyone here? I need help!" I screamed to the castle.
"Oh my dearie! Are you okay?" Fiona's familiar voice entered the room. She came over and crouched down next to me.
"I think I sprained my ankle." I told her.
She inspected it. "It looks to be true Saybelle. I'll help you to your room." Fiona grabbed my arm and slung it over her shoulder, then the grasped my hand to pull me up. We wobbled to my room.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
In my baby pink lair, Fiona had set me down on my bed and ran off to grab me ice. Before she left she had brought me Valorie.
Elle's story sat unfinished, I couldn't have that. My fingers hovered above the keys, scared but strong.
I brushed my finger tips against the keys, and began clicking away.
Elle kneeled before the king, she had saved him and his son, but she was a girl, and was not allowed to be a knight. It was punishable under death. The king moved and then something heavy had been set on her head. She looked up, it was his crown. The king gestured her to stand up and then announced loudly to the crowd.
"The Newly made Princess Elle and my son Prince William will be married within a month." The King bowed to the crowd.
What? She a Princess, she was going to marry Prince William, Elle shot a glance at William, he looked just as confused, he caught her eye and smirked.
I continued typing, Elle's story flowing under my finger tips, it was magical and full of romance, but romance unlike the cliche stories you could find in the library, true to love but not without the struggles.
Fiona had came in during my writing but she had just set the ice on top of my ankle and slipped out of the room, I had barely noticed her. My fingers went back and forth, faster and faster. Elle was brave mad doing all the things I was scared of doing. Getting married, falling in love, defying royals and expectations.
I heard a weird sound come from my door, then a piece of paper slipped under it.
Pausing my writing flow, I looked at it. It seemed to wish me no harm, I had no way to reach it though, unless.
Yes! My stick that I had beat Victor with was in my room, in the blur of being saved after I fainted and such. The stick had ended up in my room. My hand grabbed the stick and pulled it towards me, then I stuck it out as far as it could go and it barely touched it, but I made it work, I slowly pulled it towards me. When it was close enough I grabbed it.
The creamy colored paper had scratchy black ink written across it. I looked closer and read the message.
Princess, my heart calls for you, I want you, but your hoodies are ugly, and hide your perfect body, so baby, you need to wear tight dresses.
Love,
Babe
What? I peered around my room to make sure nobody was looking at me. I wanted to rip up the note, but I couldn't, I merely slid the note into the drawer of my night stand.
