Chapter 6
~What a feeling to be right here beside you now,
Holding you in my arms~
Simon had assistants from his London office carrying their bags as they walked towards the exit. Harry was dragging a groggy and upset Zayn with him, Louis had Fin, and Liam was snapchatting to his friends.
"I hate this country," Zayn said, sniffling like he was going to burst into tears.
"Well, good thing there's a Starbucks right there." Harry said, turning Zayn's head towards the sign.
"Thank god." Louis said, flicking his sunglasses up and strutting towards the coffeeshop. "I'll pay for everyone."
There was a limited line, since it was late. But it was a major airport, so there were still people. "Same orders for everyone?"
"Iced coffee with almond milk, please." Zayn said, finally paying attention. Harry let out a shaky sigh, Louis clenched his fists. Liam looked over the cake pops, not recognizing the symbol of Niall. But the others did.
"Where's Ed, again?" Harry asked the group.
"He had a little bit of a health scare, but will be here this afternoon." Louis said, displaying the texts as he paid for their drinks.
"Louis?" The barista said, pushing four drinks forward. Louis got a cup holder for them, and they started walking to where Simon was still at the curb with the assistants and the bags.
Liam held onto Zayn's elbow as he tied his shoe, Zayn tried to ignore the tingles that ran through the bare skin that he touched. "Where exactly are we going?" He asked, grabbing Liam's wrist since Liam had terrible balance.
"My London place. Well, it's a bit removed from London, but still pretty close. You'll each have your own rooms there. Harry and Louis, you can share."
"Yes!" Louis said, like he just won a prize.
"And we can put a crib in for Infinity, like we talked about, and I assume you two will have to go home to get clothes and stuff."
"My sister's bringing some stuff up, since she was in Doncaster over the weekend, and she lives in London." Louis told Simon, a bright smile on his face.
"We totally need to hang out with Lottie. It's been a minute." Zayn said, finally releasing Liam. Liam stumbled into Harry, almost spilling his hot chocolate.
"I could kill you." Harry whispered, with anger in his eyes.
"Not in front of the baby, Harold." Louis said, looking over at Simon, who was standing up and moving towards the car that just pulled up at the curb. It was a limo. Of course. They were riding with Simon, which meant riding in style.
The assistants tried to fit most of the bags in the trunk, but the smaller ones came with them. Harry buckled up Fin, while Louis geeked out over the interior of the car. "Can I have my coffee?" Zayn asked, grumpy, and Liam handed it to him from the container, while also grabbing his snickerdoodle latte.
The group finally sat down - Simon sat in the back with his assistants, on a video call to some foreign country, while the rest of them talked about trivial updates on their lives. But when they stepped out of the limo, it was all business.
Simon wanted them in the office immediately. No house tour. No taco bar. Work time. He was very strict, and Louis wanted to kick him in the shin. They had just been in the air for hours upon hours. It was late. No one wanted to work.
In the office, which an assistant had directed them too, Zayn geeked out over the tech that he got to use immediately. "Do you see this? Do you know how expensive this is?"
"No one cares, Zayn." Louis said, flipping him off.
There were many whiteboards, like there had been at their headquarters for the last job they did together. Simon liked organization. "We want to go to bed." Liam shivered as Simon walked in, oblivious to their cries for sleep.
"We need to designate jobs. Because we're breaking out Perrie in one week."
"AH!" Harry said in an aggressive tone of voice. He turned to the window, which had been covered with a black cover, to block out all of the sunlight. Then he sighed and tuned in again.
"Zayn, once Ed gets here, he is your mentor. You will spend every hour of the day learning everything you can from him, before he gets sicker." Louis' breath hitched in his throat. Most of them around the table knew the hidden reason why Ed was getting sicker. Leukemia. He wasn't going to make it much longer, especially after denying treatment for so long.
"Got it, boss." Zayn saluted, spinning in his chair while cooing at Fin, who was drinking a bottle while Harry held her. Harry frowned and Zayn, quietly telling him to knock it off and pay attention.
"Harry, you are going to build a car."
"Why build?" Harry was right on that.
"We need something flashy but poorly put together. I've got some stuff put together, and I didn't have enough time to have it finished, so you're going to do it. Liam can help." Simon took a sip of water. "Louis and Liam are going in, Zayn and Harry are on distraction, as far as what is happening on the day of the job."
"Why couldn't you tell us this in the morning?" Louis grumbled.
"You all just had coffee." Simon looked at them with contempt. "Oh, and Harry, you're going to need a fake ID."
"Okay." Harry said, skeptically.
"Go team!" Simon said with no enthusiasm. He didn't receive any back. "Wow. Tough crowd."
