Chapter 5
Aiden's POV
How dare he just walk out as if we were through with our conversation!! I'm gonna tear him a new one. I slammed the apartment door shut and walked next door to Ava's apartment. I knocked rapidly on the door. She opened it a few seconds later. She was wearing a short black dress that clung to every curve. The lower cut top accentuated her ample chest. I took in a breath. He was right. She did look amazing in that dress. I stammered trying to find the words to say. Which didn't look that off since I had been pretty much avoiding her this whole time anyways.
"Um, I need to talk to..." I pointed at Jax. "Oh sure, come in." She gestured. "Man what the heck? You just walked right out of a conversation we were having!" "Actually no it was a fight and I simply just decided I didn't wanna do it anymore so I left." "Well that's just grand for you isn't it? You decided something for the both of us." I clapped my hands. "Stop being so dramatic." "I'm not being dramatic. I'm hurt. And talking about problems is a grown up thing to do, thank you very much."
Ava walked over. "What is going on?" She asked. I whirled on her. "Don't you dare." "What? What did I do?" She asked looking hurt. "How about wrecking my plans." "Well now excuse me!! How in the heck did I do that??" She asked throwing her hands out. "Don't play dumb with me. I had plans with Jax tonight. It was rude of you to make plans." "Woah woah. I didn't know you two had plans. Jax?" She turned to him. "It's no big deal." He said.
"No actually it is kind of a big deal. That would hurt my feelings too. And Aiden doesn't even like me." I said. "Will you two stop saying that I don't like Ava." I said. "You don't." They said at the same time. Wow talk about some problems. Ava took a deep breath. She somehow shifted into teacher mode.
"Okay, Jax, you go home and let Aiden and I talk. Once we sort this, I will send him back over so that you two can sort your issue. Once it is sorted let me know if were going out or not. I am not going to come between you two okay?" She said. Jax huffed. "And if I don't want too?" He asked. She walked up to him. "If you don't want to, then I guess we don't have to go out tonight. And I was so hoping we could come back here and cuddle." Oh she was good. Jax always got his way. He always did whatever he wanted and people just took it. He caved, hard. He walked over to her and gave her a quick peck on the lips. "Fine, I'll see you in a bit." He left and Ava walked over to the couch taking a seat. The dress rode up on her long legs. I sucked in a breath taking a seat next to her on the couch. "
So why do you think I don't like you?" I asked. "Well the first time I met you, you were so nice and friendly then after that....you just basically ignored me." "Right." I had my reasons but she didn't need to know them. It was stupid and didn't matter. "Look, maybe I haven't been the friendliest to you. I'm sorry for that." "Are you gonna tell me why?" She asked. I shook my head. "Fine, are you gonna at least be nicer?" She asked. That was fair.
"I can try." I said. How did this woman go from me not wanting to have anything to do with her to being nicer to her. In a matter of seconds. It was the dress. I couldn't say no to her in that thing. "You know I think if you got to know me, you'd see that I'm really not that bad." She frowned. Oh you're taking it personally. Please don't, it's not you. But she looked at me so earnestly. How could I tell her no that I didn't want to try to get to know her. "Is that the blue mockingbird you have there?" I asked nodding to a book on her coffee table. "Yea I just love it, have you read it?" "I actually just started it, I'm about halfway done with it." "Isn't it so good?" I asked. "Yea, I really like the characters. They always keep me guessing." "Me too! I tried to get Jax to read it but..." "He doesn't read, I swear he's missing out." "Right? That's exactly what I told him!" She said. It got quiet for a minute.
"I'm sorry if I came off cold earlier. I just felt like things with my best friend were slipping." "No I totally get that. You guys are in a band together and you need to get along. I do not want to come between that at all. Like seriously if I'm causing problems then I'm going to step back. I can't be the reason you guys have issues or whatever." "No, you didn't do anything. It's just...Jax is so smitten with you and he's not thinking clearly." She gulped. "I'm gonna tell him not to break plans with you for me. We can go out anytime." She said. I nodded. "No I was being a baby. We'll spend the next however many months together cramped on a tour bus. He only gets so much time with you before he has to leave." She nodded. "You're sure?" "Totally."
"We're good?" She asked. "Totally. I'm gonna go talk with Jax." "Good luck." She smiled.
