Chapter 3
Ava's POV
I was so glad to have the help. It made moving quite easier. I wanted to just take a long nap but I didn't really have time. I needed to go return the U-Haul then go buy groceries so I didn't, you know, starve. As I was locking up I heard a voice behind me. "Oh Ava, hello again." I turned. "Jax, good to see you again." "Yeah we'll probably be seeing a good bit of each other and that is why I came over. I thought you could use someone to show you around town?" He said. "Oh that would be great." "Good, we have to go into the recording studio for a bit. Were just starting our third album. But I'm free around six. We could go get dinner first?" He said. "Oh that sounds great." I nodded. "Okay I'll see you then." I waved and hopped into the U-Haul. I was literally so grateful for GPS. I got lost back home sometimes and New York was ten times crazier. Not only that, the traffic was insane.
I struggled a bit with patience so this was going to test me. It took me longer than it should to find he U-Haul drop off point. But I think it had more to do with the amount of people walking everywhere. We had to be cautious not to run them over. And don't think the thought hadn't crossed my mind. It was already a little after twelve when I pulled into the grocery store. But I was proud of myself for already having so much done today.
I made quick work of the shopping being that I lived alone. Once I returned home I put the stuff up and crashed in the bed. I know I really should have started unpacking but I was tired. I woke up around three. The first thing I did was unload everything in the bedroom and bathroom. It was a pretty easy task. The clothes were already folded. I just transferred them to the dresser. It was white and tall and I had set a tv on top of it.
I wanted to get this done so I could get ready for my date. I took a quick shower deciding to let my natural curly hair do it's thing. I slipped into a pair of shorts and a tank top. I wasn't sure if that was the look I should go for but it was warmish outside and I figured we'd be doing some walking. So I slipped into my tennis shoes. After doing some makeup and perfume I made myself useful by unpacking some more stuff. About fifteen minutes later there was a knock on the door.
I opened it to a smiling Jax. He had this charm about him that you couldn't help but be pulled into. "Well don't you look radiant?" He said. "Oh uh, thank you." I said a little thrown off by his comment. He had on some khaki shorts with a t-shirt and black tennis shoes. His black hair was spiked up just a bit and his blue eyes sparkled.
We made it to the restaurant with good timing. It was a rather expensive place. We took our seats and waited for the waiter. But he was rather impatient. Snapping his fingers if they took just a bit to long. "Sorry." He said sheepishly. "I just want tonight to be perfect." "It doesn't have to be." I shrugged. I really was a low maintenance girl. And fancy all the time might be a bit much. But he was so very sweet and I didn't know anybody here.
A few girls came over to ask for pictures and autographs. He was pleased to do so. I thought it was nice. Being famous blew my mind though. I didn't want to be recognized for the things I did. I was perfect happy to do them in secret. He seemed to get off on it though. But I guess that's probably a really good way to deal with fame. Just accept it and roll with it. When dinner was over he showed me around the city. Where all the hot spots were. Things I needed to see and places I should avoid. I really did have a rather nice time. On the way back to the apartments we stopped and picked up Ice cream to bring back to the guys. We walked into their apartment and the first thing I noticed was the clutter. But I guess four guys in an apartment was kind of cramped. "Sorry about the mess. We only really stay here while were recording the album. Then we go on the bus and tour and whatever." He shrugged. The boys were sitting around the living room. They were watching a football game on tv. "What's in the bag mac daddy?" Asked Dylan. "Oh ice cream." Jax said holding the bag up. "Hey Ava, it's good to see you again." Said Lucas. "You too. Hey Aiden." Aiden looked up, didn't say anything and went back to watching the tv. "Don't mind him." Jax whispered. Well I did mind him because that was kind of rude.
Jax started pulling the ice cream out and put some into bowls. "Aiden is my best friend but, sometimes he doesn't show a ton of emotion." "Weird he seemed so nice and welcoming the first time we met." I shrugged. "I wouldn't worry about it." He waved it off. But the thing is, I would worry about it. I don't know why but I liked everybody to like me. It was only because I went out of my way to be nice. To everybody.
Lucas and Dylan came and grabbed a bowl of ice cream. "Aiden, would you like some?" I asked holding a bowl out to him. He just shook his head. He didn't even say no. Wow. This was going to bug me. The guys sat at the table eating ice cream. Maybe Jax was right and I shouldn't worry about it. I walked back to the table and ate my ice cream. After we had cleaned up the kitchen Jax walked me back to my apartment. "Can I see you again?" He asked. "Okay." I nodded.
A few weeks went by. It was mid May. Jax was going to be here until the end of summer. Then he would go on tour with his band mates. We were now officially dating. We go out a good bit. I hung out at his apartment a lot. Aiden still doesn't say much. He was his best friend. It was weird.
Things with me and Jax were going okay. He still insisted on going out to expensive dinners every time. And he clicked his fingers impatiently like hello don't you know who I am? He looked around for the paparazzi anytime we went out. Like I couldn't tell if he loved it or hated it. He complained but still expected them to be there. Like Ugh they are here yet again can't we get a moment alone? But if they weren't around it was like shouldn't they be here to see this? As if it wasn't just dinner.
