he always liked to give me lessons, but the hardest one i had to learn was the one he never meant to teach

when he re-entered my life, i thought the world finally opened the door that had been locked for so long. I was the happiest kid in the world, filled with the type of joy that no kind of sugar high could ever emulate. he was finally here for me, and for once, i was someone's number one priority regardless of the role i played in saving the world. i was a turtle who had been brought out of its shell to finally experience life

but of course, it was too good to be true, and he was ripped away from me in the blink of an eye, and even as we bid our goodbyes, i put on a brave face and forced a smile, because that was what he would have wanted me to do

that day, i learned that those who give you life can take it away just as easily

kai tried to fill the void he left behind, but in the end, it wasn't enough to stop me from shrinking back into my shell
