I can already hear the snake slithering towards me without looking down the hall. Not that I'd be able to, anyway, since these cursed, unnecessary vengestone manacles are keeping me chained to the wall.

Instead of seeing one of the guards, my mouth drops when it's you and your father instead. You quickly look away with a blush spreading across your face visible even in the dim light, your purple hair falling all over it.

"It has come to my knowledge that my dear daughter is interested in... marrying you," your father says, his tone almost mocking. Refusing to meet my eyes, you flush a shade of dark purple, and though the color doesn't suit you, I can still feel the familiar fluttering in my stomach.

"What do you think? Doesn't that sound super amazing?" your father says, eyeing me as if I should be dropping to my knees like he'd offered me the world. Which isn't false.

But it doesn't seem right. I steal a glance your way and notice you biting down on your bottom lip so hard that your fangs draw blood. Though I don't know what ulterior motive he has in mind, I know it won't end well for either of us if I agree, and I'd rather you be spared from it.

"You must've hit your head hard to think anyone would willingly marry her," I scoff, giving you the coldest glare I can muster.

Your face falls. Before I can figure out why you look heartbroken instead of relieved, your father whips my face with his tail, and I instinctively reach up to soothe the sting, only to hear the sound of metal clanking against metal.

"Your loss, not hers," he snaps, then wrenches your wrist and begins pulling you away, but not before you can throw one last glance in my direction. I feel my heart shattering into a thousand pieces.

"Wait!" I shout, but there's no response other than my own echoes.

Four months later I overhear from the guards that you're getting married.

First time writing in second person lolol. I showed this to my friend and she was so confused, so I did some edits, and hopefully you guys can tell what's going on by the context clues sooooo yeah
