Taking a deep breath, I stumbled up the stairs of the north tower, the black and blue Crystal Blade in my hand. The trapdoor to the top was right above my head, and while I had trained for days leading up to this moment and should be ready, my heart was pounding against my ribs way too heavily for my own good.

"You'll do great," Morro whispered with a small smile on his face, giving my hand a quick squeeze. The torch he held in his hand illuminated the small space with its orange light, giving his face an almost ethereal glow. "Something tells me you have to do it alone, but you need help just call my name, and I'll be there."

I swallowed and nodded, then pushed open the door and stepped out onto the top of the tower. There was nothing at first, but when I flipped it closed, I suddenly felt as if something was towering over me.

Immediately spinning around with the sword in front of me, only to see what resembled a tiny puff of smoke emitting some form of black smoke.

"How dare you defy the Shadow Knight!" it squeaked, glaring at me through empty black eyes.

"You're... you're the Shadow Knight?" I asked, frowning.

"Don't underestimate my power to destroy you!"

With that, it scurried behind me, and at once I felt as if something was towering over me, confirmed by the giant shadow that completely swallowed mine. Yet when I turned around he was just a puff, who once again tried to get behind me and failed. So I figured he worked somewhat like quantum states, where if you looked at him he'd be different.

I bet if the Chosen One was Lloyd or someone, they would hesitate in killing this pest. Unfortunately for the Shadow Knight, however, I wasn't a saint, so I smushed him with the blade until he stopped moving, and the sky instantly became brighter, which... eh, I didn't care about the science behind this anyway.

"Morro?"

The trapdoor flipped open and he poked his head out almost immediately. "Rumi?"

"I won," I said.

"Whoa, that easily?" he asked, his eyebrows creased.

"Yup," I grinned, slipping down through the door straight into his arms, "I'm amazing, aren't I?"

"Definitely," Morro replied, brushing my bangs out of my face, "Well, now that the Shadow Knight's defeated, wake up, Harumi."
