A/N: So this week squidneyxd chose the prompt "failed attempt", and I hope you guys enjoy it!

"COLE WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?"

At his angry voice, I turned around innocently from the stove.

"It smells like it's burning in here!"

I frowned and folded my arms across my chest. "Go back to your video games."

That should've been his cue to leave, but Kai obviously didn't get the hint as he inched closer and squinted into the pot. "What are you even making?"

"It's this specialty dish," I said proudly, looking fondly at the bubbling surface. Kai made a disgusted face and I glared at him.

"You can leave, ya know?"

"That looks so gross," he remarked.

"It's none of your business," I shot back.

"You're not gonna force it down our throats, are you?"

I ignored him and turned up the fire.

Still not getting the hint, Kai picked up a spoon and prodded at my concoction. I freaked, and just as I was about to stop him, the whole thing blew up in his face. He screamed, and I rushed to turn off the stove.

I licked some of the excess that had splattered onto me, then spit it out. Gross.

The next month was filled with hospital visits.
