Chapter 18

Kennedy looked through Samuel's laptop and she didn't know his password.

She sat on her bed with his laptop and glanced at her door. Would he get mad if she open his laptop without his permission?

Well, as a software engineer, she had learnt a few tricks or two so it wasn't that much of a hassle to open his laptop.

Her fingers lingered around the keyboard as she contemplated if it would be right or wrong.

Samuel was so going to kill her but she wanted to check. Well, it wouldn't hurt anyone just to check. She again glanced at the door as her heart started to beat.

"Fuck it! I will just take a look and see why did they reject it. That's it!" She said to herself and started to work on his laptop. It took merely five minutes to unlock his laptop and she searched through the software he was working on.

He seemed really down and dejected and she had practically seen him working hard on that software.

She found it and she reminded herself that just one look she would be taking and nothing more.

"Holy fuck!" She cursed as she took a look at the codings. She couldn't believe what was she looking at.

It just took her one look to know how amazing Samuel Johnson was in making softwares. It was a security software based on firewalls and the codings were just accurate.

Kennedy knew one project takes them at least a group of people to make the software and check it thoroughly. But he did it himself?!

For a minute, she sat there and admired his work. He was a genius! She scoffed on herself. She was practically living with a genius. Also screwing with him...

There were some problems but it wasn't something major which she could rewrite but other than those errors, the software was amazing. All he needed a good storage to file those information and the other one it needed a good network. Almost powerful network which needed a lot of money.

Maybe this was the reason they rejected it?

It could be since not every company could handle it and afford to put a lot of money on a software a normal person had made. But Samuel wasn't normal. He was a genius.

Kennedy didn't want to write the codes on his codes because it might overwrite some commands. So she looked through it and made a small file where she wrote the codes which needed a little notice to make it perfect.

While writing the codes, she felt her heart thumping with excitement. She just loved it and she hoped one day, she could be able to work in her trade.

She didn't know what time it was as she kept writing her codes and when she finally took a notice at the timing, she saw it was past 3 a.m. Shit!

She had work tomorrow and she needed to reach there by 9:30.

She saw there were many things that might occur as a problem in the software but she had no time now. How about she looked it through tomorrow?

She saved the files and turned off the laptop. She yawned and it didn't take her long to fell asleep.

Samuel woke up around 3 as he wasn't finding his peace at all. Even when he was sleeping he felt restless. He was pissed off and more than that he felt tired. He was almost thinking of giving up his dreams.

But if he gave up his dreams, he had only one thing left to do that was his dad's business. For his brothers, it might be a good opportunity but not for him.

He didn't want anything from it. He wanted to make his own money and that was without any help of his father, Merrick Johnson. He didn't even want his name around him.

He sat up on his bed and tapped on his temples. He was tired and his head throbbed like a dynamite was about to explode.

He had been working nonstop which was why he slept very little but thanks to Kennedy, he at least, got good food.

Speaking of her, he recalled he had lashed out on her just a few hours ago without any reason. She was only trying to make him feel good and probably trying to cheer him up.

He felt guilty about it as he stood up. There was an unexplainable feeling inside of him which wanted to see her as his feet dragged him toward her room.

He saw the lights of her room were still on. Was she awake? Then it might be a good chance to say sorry. Sometimes Samuel hated himself for sprouting nonsense or hurtful words without even realising.

Like he hurt his brother, Dean, he had hurt Kennedy as well for his selfish desires. If this kept going he would be all alone. And then he recalled Gwen's words.

Maybe she was true, he might have fallen in love with the loneliness. He wondered if she was a poet or what.

He knocked on Kennedy's door but there was no answer as he said in a low voice, "Kennedy? Are you awake?"

There was no sound. It could be because she was angry?

He knocked again and mumbled, "I...Uh... I am sorry."

His heart thumped unusually in his chest because it felt awkward to apologize to her like this behind closed doors. And also, he never had apologized to anyone before.

But there was no sound as he tried to hear. His head was still aching and he assumed she might have fallen asleep already.

He twisted the knob slowly and opened the door as he peeked inside. She had certainly went back to sleep and then his eyes moved toward the laptop. It looked familiar...

He stood still for a moment and then his brows ceased together on his forehead. What the fuck was his laptop doing here?

He went inside and with his throbbing head, he picked his laptop and went to the kitchen. He felt a little hungry as he hadn't eaten his dinner when Kennedy had offered him.

He was sorry for his behavior toward her as he noticed, Kennedy had placed the food aside and put a lid, thinking he might eat later.

He felt like shit. Guilt had started to wrap him in its duvet and his heart beat in an unusual way. She had never done anything to him where he sould vent his anger on her. He felt so bad and at the same time he wanted to thank her for coping up with him and his weird mood swings.

He had never found anyone who could cope up with his mood swings. Everyone—well, most of them kept a distance once they became the pray of his anger except for Noah, Dean and Kennedy.

He took the plate and started to eat as he placed his laptop on the kitchen slab. He was still pissed at the outcome. For months he and Noah had been putting a lot of efforts but today they met with another rejection.

Each time he got a rejection, he would start working from square one but today it broke him too much. To make the software a mastermind, he had studied everything alongside with his studies. From C++ to Python, he had rubbed his ass with every coding there was available. He had to spent a lot of sleepless nights and food-less days. He even made sure everything was according to his plans and there were no errors but they still rejected him.

He knew if he had told them about his father, they would accept but he didn't want to. Why couldn't they just accept him for who he was?

His eyes burnt and he felt a little dizzy as he opened the laptop and turned it on.

His heart sank at seeing the software and his anger told him to break everything.

He was about to delete everything but his eyes fell on another file. He didn't recall making another file with a weird name. The name was: Samuel's Chummy Chummy

Chummy!?

He gave a weird look on the file that displayed through the screen.

What the hell was that!

He opened the file even when it was hard for him to see now because his head was killing him. It felt like someone was banging his head with a rock.

He looked through the codes in them and he was amused how detailed they were. He recognised the coding because he was the who made it but the rewritten ones weren't his. He was getting confused and then he recalled the laptop he had rescued just now from Kennedy's room.

He looked at the screen for a moment.

Was it her?

He recalled she was originally a software engineer and used to work in High Tech Coding. Of course, she had some experience in that field. A smile curled up the corners of his lips as he got amused by her.

Apparently, she had to unlock his laptop to enter his drive and she did it without even asking his password. He shook his head as he laughed at himself.

A genius was already in his home yet he was thinking Kennedy Smith was just an ordinary woman. He had underestimated her.

Samuel didn't understand what was so great about Kennedy that made him so attracted to her. Of course, she was just another girl when they dive into their desires but he just loved it. He liked the clumsy Kennedy as much as he liked the strong willed, genius Kennedy. The more he came to know about her, the more he felt magnetized to her. He couldn't stop but get attracted and blown off by her.

Just who was she?

She was like a charm in his life. First, his body and now his mind. She just fucked him in all ways yet she didn't even know it.

"Kennedy Smith, you are full of wonders." He mumbled and turned off his laptop as he placed both of his hands on his forehead but the throbbing won't go away.

He stood up and instantly regretted as he spotted black dots before his eyes and fell on the floor before his consciousness faded into the darkness.
