Chapter 91

Wally and Victor were having fun training when suddenly, their session ended abruptly as the doors to the training room so that Flash could enter, along with Supergirl, Superman and two newcomers.

"Sorry for the interruption." Flash said with a smirk at the starstruck face Victor had at seeing both Kryptonian heroes.

"Who are the new people?" Wally asked.

"Kid Flash, Victor, meet Orion and Metron. New Gods from the planet New Genesis." Supergirl said, since Wally knew her's and Superman's identities, Victor didn't.

"New Gods?" Victor asked, right as Supergirl shot him a look that read don't ask.

"And we are the only ones truly qualified to determine the extent of your condition, since I am the one who invented the mother box technology that you are fused with. And I must admit, I am intrigued at how you've adapted my technology." Metron said.

"And I'm here to supervise Metron, since he does not exactly have a normal moral compass by human or New God standards." Orion said.

"And we appreciate that, since Metron's reputation for being an asshole is known on every planet that's interacted with New Genesis and the Guardians would love to have an excuse to lock him up for a few years." Supergirl said as Metron simply ignored them as he held out another mother box towards Victor, causing it to beep as it scanned him.

"Fascinating. It appears that Mr. Stone's bionics are still influenced by Darkseid's apokoliptian technology, providing a possible backdoor for him to use." Metron said.

"Can you prevent that?" Supergirl asked, since the last thing they needed was Darkseid using a teenager to bypass the security systems the Justice League had put in place since his last attack to warn them if he approached.

"He can and will. Highfather has ordered him to do so and seeing as how Metron is already on thin ice as you say on this planet with Highfather, he has no choice but to comply." Orion said before Metron could refuse, since Orion could tell that Metron was more interested in studying Victor's current condition as is.

"Very well." Metron said, clearly disappointed as he used his mother box to generate a boom tube and brought a chair through it.

"What is this?" Victor asked.

"This is my mobius chair. It is the only thing with a strong enough connection to the source wall to purge any and all new god influence, from either New Genesis or Apokolips, from your cybernetics." Metron said reluctantly.

"You're sure it's safe?" Superman asked.

"No. This has never been done before, since it's never been necessary." Orion admitted.

"I'll do it." Victor said.

"Really?" Wally asked Victor, who nodded.

"I don't like the idea of not being in control of my body and potentially betraying my own planet. You think this can prevent that?" Victor asked and Metron nodded.

"The Mobius chair will essentially replace the Apokoliptan technology in your body with Mobius technology. Though I still think a preferable course of action would be to see how your body fights off the Apokoplitan technology in your system." Metron said.

"Which is why you do not have a choice in the matter Metron. You may think yourself superior, but as long as you are a citizen of New Genesis, you are subject to Highfather's commands. Not to mention you do not want to earn my ire by refusing." Orion said to Metron, who reluctantly gestured for Victor to sit down in the chair, immediately glowed and latched tendrils of red energy to Vic, who began to scream in pain.

"Is there anything we can do?" Wally asked.

"No. I think that this is just a part of the process. After all, I doubt that this will be painless." Flash said as the tendrils turned purple before they retracted themselves from him.

"Well?" Supergirl asked as Metron held up his mother box to Vic again and it beeped.

"The Mobius technology infusion is complete and it appears to be successful. And the human survived." Metron said, sounding slightly disappointed about that as Vic came to.

"How do you feel?" Flash asked Victor.

"Better. Still weird, but in a different way. Like my bionics are a little more natural." Victor said.

"I must admit, one of the reasons I agreed to this was because I was curious to see if the human could survive and adapt to my technology. And not only has he done that, but I believe that he has begun to evolve my technology, doing things even I never thought possible." Metron admitted, since his curiosity was piqued about that.

"What do you mean?" Victor asked.

"According to my mother box, your biology appears to have bypassed the safeguards I programmed into the machinery. This means that you could do things that my mother boxes could never do. I look forward to studying you to determine what you can do." Metron said.

"You're not taking him with you. Victor belongs here on Earth with the people who care about him, not locked up in a cage or a trophy like a pawn in your infinity vault." Supergirl said.

"I'm sure Metron meant to observe from a distance." Orion said, since he agreed with her.

"Of course. After all, I wouldn't be able to study the specimen properly if he stayed in a cage." Metron said.

"Yeah, not sure how I feel about that." Victor said.

"And with that, I think it's time we return to our negotiations on New Genesis." Superman said and Orion nodded as he pulled out his own mother box to open a boom tube back to New Genesis, which he and Metron went through.

"Make sure that these negotiations go our way. No matter what you have to do." Supergirl said to her cousin.

"Trust me, Metron's attitude during this just strengthened our hand." Superman assured her as he walked through the tube himself.

"Thank you for your help Supergirl." Flash said.

"Anytime. And hopefully Superman and his team will return to Earth from New Genesis soon and the fact that they're offworld does not leave this room." Supergirl said and they all nodded as she headed for the Zeta Tubes.

"So, what's next?" Wally asked.

"I think that what's next for me is getting out of Central City. Too many reminders here of what I used to be. I can't move forward until I can put that behind me." Victor said and Flash nodded.

"I had a feeling you might say that, so I called a friend in Bludhaven and they've got plenty of room for you if you want, especially since you wouldn't be the first challenged teenager he's taken in." Flash said.

"You're talking about the Titans?" Victor asked and Flash nodded.

"They're allies of the League and they're led by Batman's first protege, Nightwing, who was the original Robin. And I think you'd be a good fit there." Flash said.

"And I can come visit you there whenever I want." Wally said, since while he'd miss his friend, he understood why Victor had to go.

"Thank you for everything." Victor said.

"It's what we do." Flash said as he held out his hand to Victor, who shook it.
