Chapter 89

Caitlin was doing everything she could to help stabilize Victor in surgery, it didn't look good. His injuries were too severe and frankly, she was amazed he'd survived as long as he had.

"Dr. Snow, I think we need to call it." one of the other doctors said.

"Not until we officially lose him." Caitlin said, only to be distracted when a boom tube opened up out of nowhere and Silas Stone walked out of it, looking panicked and worried.

"Silas, what are you doing in here and with that?" Caitlin asked.

"I'm doing what you can't. I'm saving my son." Silas said as he shoved her out of the way and before she could stop him, he placed the mother box on Victor's chest and activated it.

"No." Caitlin shouted, worried about what would happen, but it was too late as the box suddenly began to shoot tendrils of red energy out of itself, surrounding Victor as his body was consumed by some kind of high tech cylinder chamber.

"What's happening?" One of the doctors asked and Caitlin had to resist the urge to ice blast Silas, since he had no idea the kind of forces he was tampering with and even if this worked, there was no telling what kind of side effects there would be, since there was no way Victor would come out of this unchanged.

"It's like a cocoon. It'll heal him." Silas said confidently.

"At what cost?" Caitlin asked, asked, glaring at Silas.

"I wasn't going to lose my son." Silas said.

"So you turned him into another one of your science experiments? Stealing top secret technology to do god knows what to him? You'd better hope he survives, because while I'm calling the police either way, if he doesn't make it, I'm going to press charges against you for murder." Caitlin said.

"I'm not leaving until I know my son is alive." Silas said.

"Who said you have a choice? Call security and have this man removed immediately and if he attempts to return without permission, they have permission to tranq him. The rest of us need to be prepared for whatever happens after this process ends." Caitlin said, right as Flash and Kid Flash sped in.

"Flash, good timing." Caitlin said, grateful to see her brother there.

"Not fast enough though." Flash said, referring to the tube.

"Silas is delusional, hoping it can save Victor." Caitlin said.

"Can it?" Kid Flash asked.

"I don't know and even if it does save his life, I doubt he'll be the same afterwards." Caitlin said.

"And at least he'll be alive." Silas insisted, since he seemed convinced that he was in the right here as security finally burst in to take him away.

But before any of them could move or say another thing, suddenly, smoke popped out of the capsule before it opened slowly, to reveal that a majority of his body was now covered in silver cybernetics. (Think of Cyborg from Doom Patrol to help, since working on character descriptions is not one of my strong suits.) There was a glowing red circle on his chest and his right eye had been replaced with a glowing red light.

"He's more machine than human now." Caitlin said in horror, since while prosthetics were a thing, this was beyond anything she'd ever seen.

"But he's alive. That's all I care about." Silas said as Victor groaned as he began to wake up.

"What's going on? I feel weird?" Victor said as Caitlin rushed up to him.

"Victor, calm down. You were in a terrible accident. You nearly died." Caitlin said, since there was no way to be delicate about this as Victor looked down and saw his body.

"What the hell happened to me?" Victor asked in horror, since he was more metal than man now.

"Why don't you ask your father, who used stolen, untested alien technology to save you against your doctor's orders." Flash said as Victor noticed him.

"Flash." Victor said as he began trying to process everything before he felt his face.

"Show me what my face looks like." Victor said.

"Victor." Caitlin said.

"I need to see it." Victor said and Kid Flash sped out and returned in a second with a mirror and held it up for Victor to see.

"What the hell did you do to me?" Victor shouted at his father, right as his right arm and hand suddenly turned into a cannon.

"What the hell?" Victor asked.

"Victor, calm down. We don't know much about these cybernetics, but they're clearly triggered by your emotions, since I'm assuming that a weapon is a result of an angry reaction, which is understandable, but please. You don't want to risk hurting anyone by accident." Caitlin said, trying to calm him down.

"I did what I had to save your life Victor." Silas said.

"And you turned me into a freak to do it. Another one of your science experiments. This is what it took for you to pay attention to me. You had turn me into this?" Victor asked angrily, his cybernetics continuing to react with his emotions.

"Get him out of here. He's clearly having a negative impact on my patient." Caitlin ordered and security nodded as they hauled Silas out.

"I'll report him to Kara Danvers. I doubt he'll have a job for much longer." Flash said, since Argo Enterprises was known for having a good relationship with the League.

"Good, because I think that's the best place for Victor to receive treatment and learn to cope with his new reality, since I don't think there are any hospitals anywhere that are equipped for this kind of work." Caitlin said.

"You're gonna turn me into a lab rat?" Victor asked fearfully, but Caitlin quickly shook her head.

"No, of course not. I just meant that Argo Enterprises is the best place for you to learn to control your new abilities and I know it might not seem like it now, but what you've been given, it can be a gift." Caitlin said as she gestured for the rest of the doctors and staff to leave.

"How can it be a gift when I didn't ask for it. I'll never be able to play football again. My whole life is screwed up because of my father. Wait, my mom, did she survive the crash?" Victor asked and Caitlin reluctantly shook her head no.

"I'm sorry Victor. But you can get through this." Caitlin said.

"How, I have no one now." Victor said as Kid Flash looked to his mentor, who nodded.

"You have me Vic. And you always will." Kid Flash said as he removed his mask to reveal the face of Wally West.

"Wally, you're Kid Flash?" Victor asked in shock.

"I am. And I'll always have your back. No matter what." Wally said as he held out his hand to Victor, who shook it.

I'm changing Cyborg's actor to Jordan Calloway.
