Barry and Iris were out for dinner a few nights after they moved into Iris's parents house and took in Allegra when suddenly, a flash of red lightning passed them. A flash that Barry instantly recognized.

"Barry." Iris said, instantly knowing the look on her fiance's face.

"He's back." Barry said.

"Barry, don't do this. Not alone." Iris said.

"Call the team, try to figure out where he's going. But now that I know that son of a bitch is back, I'm not letting him get away." Barry said and before Iris could stop him, he had his Flash ring on and sped after the Reverse Flash.

"Barry no." Iris shouted as she pulled out her phone to call in the rest of the team to let them know that the Reverse Flash was back.

The citizens of Central City were knocked back by the random winds that seemed to be kicked up in the air, right as two blurs of lightning passed by them. One of which was the golden yellow they'd come to recognize as belonging to their hometown hero Flash while the other was an angry dark blood red.

The two speedsters ran all around the city until finally coming to a stop in the very center of town, where the city had recently unveiled a new statue of Flash as a monument to him.

"Well, this is a change from when I left." Reverse Flash said as he vibrated his face and voice as he spoke.

"I know who you are, Thawne. Eobard Thawne." Flash said.

"Yes, I imagine that pest Silver Bolt told you plenty of things for however long she's been here." Reverse Flash said.

"She told me how you enslaved your own time and how you want to do the same thing here. And I'm just going to tell you right now that there's no way in hell that I'll ever allow that to happen." Flash said.

"You really think that you're fast enough to stop me?" Reverse Flash asked.

"You're one to talk." Flash said.

"True. In fact, the whole reason I came to this time period in the first place was to kill you." Reverse Flash said.

"What?" Flash asked.

"Oh, you still haven't figured that out? I guess you're not as clever as I thought. Yes, from my perspective, we've been fighting this war for what feels like an eternity. Neither one of us strong enough to defeat the other. Until I learned your greatest secret. I learned your name and came back here to kill you as a child to ensure that you'd never become the Flash, never become the man who'd steal my glory. But unfortunately your future self discovered my plan and followed me back and we slugged it out in one of our fiercest fights yet." Reverse Flash said.

"The red and yellow lightning I saw the night my mom died." Flash said and Reverse Flash nodded.

"That was us, fighting it out. Then you got your younger self out of there and while at first, I was furious, a new thought occurred to me. If I couldn't kill you, I could still break you. Force you to endure a tragedy so traumatic that your younger self would never recover and you would never become the Flash, so I stabbed your mother in the heart. And I was so certain that would do it. That I'd finally succeeded in erasing you from the face of history before you even got a chance to become the Flash. But things didn't go according to plan, since it turns out that in traveling back this time, I lost my way home. My connection to my negative speed force had become unstable, preventing me from accessing enough of it to be able to return home. Stranding me here, away from my own time, away from my family, with no way back. Well, no way but one. The Flash." Reverse Flash said.

"So you came back to kill me and instead you had to create me." Flash said.

"And yet it was unnecessary. I built the Star Labs particle accelerator specifically so that it would explode and turn you into the Flash, but the speed force took matters into its own hands and turned you into the Flash ahead of schedule. But the accelerator explosion could still serve a purpose. Create new metahumans for you to fight, to help you get faster and maybe even allow me to restore my own speed, which I did. And now that I'm back to full strength, I'm ready to pick up where I left off. Our race can finally resume, since you're no longer the rookie I thought I'd have to train. You're the man I traveled back in time to erase. You have no idea just how much I've done to get this far. I've been waiting for this for a very long time and I'm just getting started." Reverse Flash said.

"Then let's do this." Flash said as yellow lightning crackled in his eyes while red lightning crackled in Reverse Flash's before their respective lightnings surged off their bodies as they charged towards each other, their everlasting race resuming after a long break.
