Jesse could barely keep track of what was going on as Barry sped her and himself faster and faster with his father not far behind them until they crossed through some kind of portal and came to a stop inside some kind of huge lightning storm.

"Where are we?" Jesse asked in awe as she looked around at this place.

"Welcome to the Speed Force Jessica Wells. And Barry, it's been too long." a female voice said and Jesse turned to see a woman with red hair standing in front of them.

"Who are you?" Jesse asked.

"Jesse Wells, meet my mother, Nora Allen, the avatar of the speed force. Long story." Barry said as he moved to hug his mother as Henry joined them.

"Nora." Henry said in shock at seeing his dead first wife for the first time in years.

"Hello my love. I see the years have been good to you. I've been keeping tabs on you since I became the avatar of the speed force." Nora said.

"You have?" Henry asked and Nora nodded.

"And I am so proud of you for raising our son to be such a kind and compassionate man and I hope that you and Carla will be very happy together." Nora said.

"Really, you're okay with the fact that your husband remarried when you're still alive. Are you even legally married then?" Jesse asked.

"My mortal life ended the day Eobard Thawne killed me. But because of that, I ascended to a higher calling as the avatar and anchor of the speed force." Nora said.

"I'm sorry, who Thawne?" Barry asked, since he finally had a name for his mother's killer.

"Eobard Thawne." Nora said.

"Any relation to Eddie Thawne?" Jesse asked, since if so, she really needed to think some things through.

"Yes. Eobard is Eddie Thawne's distant descendant." Nora said.

"Wait, if this Eobard guy is Eddie's descendant and he's a speedster. Does that mean that?" Jesse asked.

"The future is constantly changing Jesse. Even I can only see so much of it and since Eobard is from the 25th century, it's hard to tell. Especially since he is shielded from me by my opposite, the negative speed force." Nora said.

"There's a negative speed force?" Barry asked.

"Of course, the universe requires balance, which means that every light must have a darkness to oppose it. A negative to my positive. If balance is lost, well, it's really not good for anyone. But that's why both sides of the speed force choose a champion among other speedsters. The speed force chose you and the negative speed force chose Thawne and the war between you two helps maintain the universe's balance." Nora said.

"As interesting as this is and it really is, that's not why we're here. We're here for answers about me." Jesse said.

"You want to know where your speed really comes from, since the tests Barry ran on you showed that your speed is inherited?" Nora said.

"Yeah, that." Jesse said.

"Your speed comes from your mother's side of the family. From your maternal grandparents, Libby Lawrence and Johnny Chambers." Nora said.

"I knew the Libby Lawrence and Jonathan Chambers of my Earth. They were speedsters before me. They called themselves Liberty Belle and Johnny Quick." Henry said.

"And like you, they escaped from your world to this one when you foolishly triggered the end of your world." Nora said.

"Wait, Jonathan and Libby were here?" Henry asked.

"They passed away before I was born." Jesse said, shocked that her grandparents were from a different universe.

"And they didn't know you survived Henry, just like you didn't know they did. And while I prevented them from passing on their power to their daughter, I did ensure that it would be passed down to Jesse." Nora said.

"I'm not even going to ask about all that. My head is reeling from the fact that apparently my grandparents were superheroes on another Earth. And I will be following that tradition on ours. And taking my grandmother's name, Liberty Belle you said." Jesse said and Henry nodded.

"I'll give Cisco details of her costume so he can make one like it for you in her honor." Henry said.

"Thank you Henry. But now I need to go check on my boyfriend to make sure he hasn't gone nuclear yet." Jesse said.

"Yeah, we should be getting back." Barry agreed as he grabbed Jesse and they sped out of the speed force.

"Be careful Barry. I wish I could warn you of what's coming, but some rules even I cannot break." Nora said as she faded into the storm that was the speed force.
