Chapter 41
Iris was growing concerned. Over the past few weeks, she'd started to find it harder and harder to stand up and stay standing, since she was starting to lose feeling in her legs again.
Which was why when Barry told her that he was meeting with Doctor Fate, she'd practically ordered him to bring the good doctor home to give her a mystic checkup to find out why she seemed to be losing her ability to walk again.
"Ms. West. I am not your personal physician." Doctor Fate said as he appeared in her apartment with Barry, who was still wearing his Flash suit, but now with his cowl off.
"You're the only trained mystic we have access to since Gabby still has no idea on how to use her necklace's power and since it was magic that gave me back my ability to walk." Iris said.
"Point taken. Give me one moment." Doctor Fate said as he held out his open hand to her and it glowed for a minute.
"I'm afraid it's not good news." Doctor Fate said.
"What do you mean?" Iris asked as Barry sat down next to her and took her hand.
"Something has disrupted the magic that was allowing you to walk. It's fading quickly." Doctor Fate said.
"What, how?" Iris asked.
"I don't know. It's possible that the magic wasn't strong enough to be permanent or possibly some outside force disrupted it, but it can't be restored. Though I wish I could." Doctor Fate said, truly sorry about that.
"So, I'm going back to being stuck in a chair?" Iris asked as she tried to stand up, seriously annoyed as Doctor Fate continued to examine her.
However, as Iris tried to get up, her legs gave out as Barry sped out and returned with her wheelchair and Iris groaned at being stuck back in this thing.
"So magic can't fix me again, what about science. Tannhauser already built me this sweet ass robo arm. I'm sure they could find a way to fix me." Iris said, wanting to get back on her feet as soon as possible.
"Not at the moment and I can check with my contacts in the League, see if any of them have any tech that could help you, but it could take years before any of them get to that point, since from what I remember, the damage done to your spine was pretty extensive. It's a miracle you're not a quadriplegic." Barry said.
"Still, I'd just gotten used to walking again, I do not want to have to go back to being stuck in this thing and I am not wheeling myself down the aisle." Iris said.
"Iris, I promise, I'll find a way to get you back on your feet." Barry said.
"And I believe that there may be one scientist on Earth who is capable of healing Iris, but I will warn you now that he is a criminal and he's the man we're currently looking for now." Fate said, since he truly cared for both Barry and Iris as friends.
"TO Morrow?" Barry asked and Fate nodded.
"He may be a madman, but he's also an expert in this kind of technology, considering the fact that he built Red Tornado to practically be human." Doctor Fate said.
"You really think that his tech can help Iris?" Barry asked Fate, who nodded.
"I do. Which just makes finding him even more important. Though I will admit that we cannot trust him." Fate said.
"We'll worry about that after we find him. Can you do the locator spell to find him?" Barry asked and Fate nodded as he held out his hand and projected a golden construct of the Earth and chanted a spell.
"Show me the location of TO Morrow." Fate said as suddenly, there was a flash of light and suddenly there was an arrow pointing to a location over America.
"He's in a secret bunker near Old Faithful in Wyoming. Shall we go Flash?" Doctor Fate asked and Barry nodded as he put his cowl back on.
"Wait, I'm going with you." Iris said.
"Absolutely not. It's too dangerous." Flash said.
"And do I look like I care? I'm a soldier Barry, this kind of thing is what I'm trained for. Besides, I'd rather just have Morrow work on me in a place where he already has his equipment instead of having to wait for you to transfer it and him to somewhere more secure." Iris said as she grabbed her gun.
"I don't think we'll be able to convince her not to come Flash. She reminds me of my wife Inza in that regard. Once she sets her mind to something, that's that. But I can provide her with some extra protection." Fate said as he raised his hand and covered Iris with protective glyphs.
"Thank you. Now let's go." Iris said and Fate nodded as he opened an ankh portal, which all three of them went through.
