Chapter 39

When Flash returned to Fort Kirby, he found Kramer waiting for him and saw a repair crew already working on fixing the damages caused by his fight with Blockbuster.

"Everything alright?" Kramer asked him.

"Not sure yet, but I have orders from Supergirl to oversee the investigation into General Eiling. We need to know what kind of tricks he was involved with." Flash said and Kramer nodded.

"Then we want the same thing." Kramer said.

"Did they ever figure out who that Blockbuster creature used to be?" Flash asked as they walked into Eiling's office.

"Blockbuster, that's a little on the nose isn't it?" Kramer asked.

"If it works, it works. But do we have an id on him?" Flash asked.

"That's the kicker. I think that the universe was doling out some poetic justice, since when we got an id back on that thing, it turned out to be none other than Eiling himself. Someone used his own experiment on him." Kramer said and Flash couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of that and he knew Iris would likely get a kick out of it too.

"Guess someone decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. Literally. Too bad I'm assuming he never had a cure for the serum created." Flash said.

"That's one of the things we're hoping to find here, since if a cure for the blockbuster serum does have a cure, Eiling would likely keep it hidden somewhere in here." Kramer said.

"And who knows what else." Flash said as he walked over to Eiling's computer, which he hadn't even had time to destroy before trying to make a break for it before the man in yellow had abducted him.

"Please tell me you know Eiling's password?" Flash asked, since while his team had the resources to hack into Eiling's computer, he didn't think that hacking into the computer system of the military would really help the league's image right now.

"Well, I have a guess." Kramer said as she sat down in the chair at the desk and started typing.

"Patriot76." Kramer said and sure enough, that unlocked it.

"Okay, Patriot I get, since in some twisted way, Eiling thought of himself as a patriot, where did you get the 76 from?" Flash asked.

"76, as in 1776, the year America was founded. Eiling built his whole life around being a patriot, or what he thought a patriot should be. It honestly makes the way his life turned out kind of sad." Kramer said as she moved aside so Flash could take over, since he could go through the files a lot faster than she could.

"Damn, looks like Blockbuster wasn't Eiling's only attempt to create a super soldier. It looks like he's been researching every known superhuman individual in recorded history." Flash said, since he was seeing files that dated back to World War 2 with Wonder Woman and the Justice Society of America.

"Including the JSA. It looks like Eiling has spent a lot of resources trying to recreate and improve on the abilities of the JSA. It looks like he tried particularly hard with Hourman and Dr. Midnite." Kramer said as Flash slowed down on scrolling through the files and he actually got up to let her take over while he began search the rest of the office, activating the HUD that Cisco had built into the retractable lenses in his cowl to scan the rest of the room, since he got the feeling that the files on Eiling's computer weren't the only thing being hidden in here.

So he was not surprised when his lenses detected the presence of a hidden panel behind a bookcase.

"Damn, the general really is one for cliches." Flash said as he found the trigger and caused the case to slide away to reveal a hidden passage.

"No kidding. And I also don't know how Eiling kept this area secret and off the plans of the base, since Fort Kirby has existed since long before Eiling was stationed here." Kramer said, shocked as finding a hidden vault in the building.

"Well, let's see what the General had hidden away here." Flash said as he took point, since on the off chance that Eiling had rigged this place with security measures, he wanted to be able to get Kramer out quickly.

"What was Eiling doing here?" Kramer asked as they looked around and saw plenty of files, and also some other interesting artifacts.

"You mean besides stealing artifacts from their rightful owners." Flash said, since he was seeing artifacts from the Justice Society, including Hourman's hourglass and Dr. Midnite's glasses. Though he was surprised to see a regular pink pen in a supermax case.

"I mean, some of that stuff was claimed as government property after the JSA was disbanded, but still." Kramer agreed, since this stuff was meant to be stored in the government archives in DC, though in her opinion, they should've been on display in the smithsonian, but the JSA's activities were supposed to be top secret, though with the emergence of the Justice League, Kramer couldn't help but feel that the JSA would soon be coming back into the light.

"Wait, what's that?" Flash asked as he noticed a highly secured vault that seemed to be about the right size to hold a human being.

"I almost don't want to open that, but we need to." Kristin said, since who knew what Eiling was keeping in a vault that big.

"Now, let's figure out the code." Flash said as he used his speed to try every possible combination of numbers in the keypad until finally, he cracked the code and opened the vault and Kramer almost couldn't stop herself from screaming in horror at what she was seeing and Flash couldn't blame her as he took it in.

"Is that what or who I think it is?" Flash asked and Kramer nodded as they looked at a dismantled, faded red android with a faded t on its chest and the tattered remains of a cape on its back.

"It's Red Tornado. A member of the Justice Society of America. I thought that he'd been decommissioned with the JSA. I didn't know that Eiling had somehow gotten his hands on him and dismantled him." Kramer said, horrified that someone would do this to a war hero. Even if he was an android.

"I'll take him to the hall of justice, see if we can maybe put him back together again. Induct him into the League." Flash said.

"Take him. We can finish this later." Kramer said and Flash nodded as he first got her out of the vault before going back in and taking the remains of Tornado's body and speeding it towards DC, since he was sure that with all the super geniuses on it, they could find a way to bring Red Tornado back from the dead essentially.
