Chapter 38
It's the end of an era. The Arrowverse has officially come to an end with the series finale of Superman and Lois. I am very happy that Superman and Lois got a proper ending unlike several other Arrowverse shows and I'm very satisfied with it's ending, though I'll admit I did get a bit teary eyed towards the end of it, since not only was it emotional, but it's the end of the CW's era with superheroes. One complaint I do have about season 4 of Superman and Lois is this. Despite having an amazing actor for it, this was the weakest version of Lex Luthor I've ever seen. I feel bad Michael Cuditz had to play that version of Lex, since he's a great actor, but he got stuck playing a version of one of the most evil villains in the DC universe that was a flop. This is why I'm a Jon Cryer Lex Luthor fan, because he did Luthor right. It's not Cuditz's fault, since I think that he was a good choice for the role, the problem was how the writer's wrote Lex Luthor in this show, because they wasted him significantly. Sorry, did not mean to rant like that, but I've been holding that in for a long time. This version of Lex was a joke compared to literally any other version of him, live action or animated. But now it's officially RIP on the Arrowverse, I hope the new DC movie franchise can continue that legacy and make up for some of the terrible movies cough, Flash, cough, that the DCEU had. And now on with the story.
When Flash and Ice Maiden arrived at the precinct, they found the cops waiting for them.
"Flash, other hero." Joe said, since he'd left the military base before Ice Maiden had made her debut.
"Call me Ice Maiden." Ice Maiden said.
"Catchy." Joe said.
"What's going on?" Flash asked.
"While you were dealing with that attack on the army base, nice work there by the way, the man in yellow staged a smash and grab at Mercury Labs, killing everyone who tried to get in his way before he breached a high level security vault." Joe said.
"What was taken?" Flash asked, since while Barry Allen couldn't ask those questions, he had a feeling that the Flash would get a better response.
"A one of a kind tachyon prototype that Mercury Labs was developing in a joint project with Argo Enterprises." Tina McGee, the CEO of Mercury Labs, said as she and Captain Singh approached them.
"Has Kara Danvers been contacted?" Flash asked, since while he knew that Supergirl was busy at the moment, since he'd seen the request for assistance for the League that Batman had sent out, but it had been considered relatively low priority for any League members who were currently involved in their own missions, which Flash considered himself on now, since he was pursuing a lead on the man in yellow.
"She has and she's said that her representative in this city, Jessica Chambers, will cooperate fully with the investigation, but since it was my facility that was robbed, I can take point. She truly is a brilliant scientist and I wish that she'd come to work for me full time, though I can't deny that she's done well on her own." Tina said and Flash couldn't dispute that.
"Do you have any idea on why this intruder would steal a tachyon prototype, since it sounds like he's a speedster like me, so why would he need tachyons when he can already move at superhuman speeds." Flash asked, since that was a genuine question and it also gave him the chance to show off his own scientific knowledge and he could tell that Dr. McGee was impressed while everyone besides Ice Maiden gave him blank looks.
"I don't know, but he already disabled the tracking device that all our projects have planted on them for security reasons. We can't find it." Tina said.
"If you give me all the information you have on that tracking program, maybe my team and I can find a way to bring it back online." Flash said and Tina nodded.
"I'll get you that information as soon as I can." Tina said.
"Does the tachyon device give off any kind of trackable energy signature that we could use to hunt for it instead?" Ice Maiden asked, showing off her own scientific genius.
"Only when in use. The housing matrix that contains the tachyonic particles is designed to keep them inert when not in use." Tina said.
"Translation?" Joe asked.
"Until the man in yellow uses the stolen tech, we can't track it." Flash translated.
"Got it. And I'm assuming that there's no way we can figure out where the man in yellow went?" Singh asked.
"Barry's been trying to figure that out for fifteen years." Joe reminded and Singh sighed, knowing that he owed Allen an apology for ever doubting him, since now he had proof that Barry had been right about his mother's killer and it put any remaining doubts he had about Henry Allen's innocence to rest once and for all.
Before any of them could say anything else, Flash's earpiece went off on the secure Justice League only frequency.
"Hang on a second, I need to take this. Flash here." Flash said as he got on comms.
"Hey, I know you're investigating a case regarding the man in yellow, but I need you to return to Fort Kirby immediately." Supergirl said.
"I'm surprised you're not ordering me on that big Cadmus op." Flash said.
"We've already got myself, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter and a few others on that case. But we did see the report regarding the attack by Blockbuster on the base and how it was one of Eiling's projects. The Justice League needs to know everything we can about what General Eiling was up to, especially considering the number of people that could get hurt by it." Supergirl said.
"Copy that. I'm assuming you'll try and show up later to help with the tachyon theft, since it was technically your property that was stolen." Flash said.
"You're right about that. But we can't do anything about that prototype right now." Supergirl said.
"I'll head back to Fort Kirby now. But there is something I want to discuss at our next League meeting." Flash said.
"I look forward to it. But now I think we both need to go." Supergirl said.
"Copy that." Flash said as he got off the call.
"You have to go don't you?" Joe asked Flash when he returned to them.
"It's a League matter, but Ice Maiden here is perfectly qualified to fill in as the resident superhero." Flash said and Ice Maiden smiled at her brother and nodded as he sped out.
