Chapter 35

"I've lost track of how many times I've searched the city by super speed, there's no trace of the man in yellow or Eiling." Barry said as he sped into the Cortex of the Cave to find Caitlin, Cisco, Iris and Gabby waiting.

"I've been using the Star Labs satellite to run a facial recognition search for Eiling and I'm using a new algorithm I created to track speedsters, but so far, you're the only one who's coming up. The man in yellow must've guessed that I'd try to track him, so he's not using his speed right now. But hopefully, the second he shows up, we can track him with this and then you can get the drop on him." Cisco said.

"Great. Gabby, what about you? Any new leads?" Barry asked.

"No, honestly based on all the evidence Joe's shown me, your dad is lucky he avoided prison. And I spoke to my military contacts, they're keeping Eiling's disappearance on the hush, but my aunt assured me that General Lane has made finding him one of the DOD's top priorities. They're utilizing every possible asset." Gabby said.

"Supergirl's made looking for Eiling a priority for the league too, since he could pose a threat to both metahumans and aliens, especially since the government is already in the business of trying to weaponize alien powers." Barry said, since while the man in yellow was his fight, he had made sure that the league was kept up to date on what was going on.

"Think they'll help us if we need it?" Caitlin asked.

"Most likely yes, but I'm hoping I won't need to call them in. Especially since both Dad and Gabby have upped my training since the man in yellow resurfaced. And we really need to come up with a better name for him, since the man in yellow is lame compared to the names of the villains Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and even Supergirl have fought." Barry said.

"I agree, which is why I've been trying to come up with something better, but it doesn't help that I haven't seen him yet. I can't give him the perfect supervillain name if I don't know anything about him." Cisco said, since he'd made it his job to give every metahuman in the city their own metahuman name.

"Gabby, have you been able to figure out anything about this guy?" Barry asked.

"I'm trying to, but like Cisco said, our info on the guy is limited and that is being generous. The most I can tell is that whoever this guy is, he's strategic, methodical. He seems to be solely focused on his mission and he's basically a chess player at times. He's several moves ahead of all of us." Gabby said.

"Sounds about right." Barry said, since that just about summed up everything they knew about the man in yellow.

"And while I'd love to keep doing this, Gabby and I need to get going, since we need to go get ready for the award ceremony tomorrow. We need to pick up our military uniforms from the cleaners and make sure that everything is ready." Iris said, since with Eiling on the run, Gabby's aunt Kristen Kramer had taken over the ceremony that would be giving her and Gabby their medals.

"Fine. You're all going to be there right?" Gabby asked, looking pointedly at Caitlin, since Barry going there was already established, since as Iris's fiance, it was clear that he was going to be there, and while she and Caitlin had only been together for a few weeks, she still wanted her there.

"Of course. Will any other members of your family be there besides your aunt, who's presenting you and Iris with your medals?" Caitlin asked, since while she knew Gabby's family situation, she was hoping that something like this might bring them back together.

"Just my brother T.J. You know what my relationship with the rest of my family is like. I've been a ghost to them ever since I came out. My aunt and my brother are the only family I have. Well, aside from you guys." Gabby said, since Team Flash had quickly become her new family.

"And this family isn't going anywhere. And we'll all be there tomorrow at the ceremony." Barry said.

"Especially me. I wouldn't miss this for anything, even if we weren't together, since Iris is like a sister to me." Caitlin promised her girlfriend, who smiled at her.

Little did they know that they weren't the only ones making plans for the ceremony.

General Eiling groaned as he came too to find himself in some kind of lab in the sewers and that he was restrained.

"What the hell is going on?" Eiling groaned as he tried to get his bearings.

"Hello General." An unfamiliar voice said as a blonde haired man wearing some kind of yellow suit walked up to him.

"Who are you? And why are you holding me prisoner?" Eiling asked.

"You should consider yourself lucky that I have a use for you, otherwise, I'd be leaving you in the company of our mutual friend. The one responsible for getting you out of that mess you'd gotten yourself into, though that might've been more pleasant than what our friend wants to do to you. Isn't that right buddy." the man said as the ground shook and Eiling's eyes widened as he saw a familiar looking Gorilla walking on two legs towards them.

"Eiling's lucky father wants him alive. Otherwise, Grodd make Eiling pay for hurting Grodd." Grodd said angrily.

"Don't worry buddy, he'll get what he deserves. And then he'll join our little group and serve a valuable purpose. He'll be much more useful than he ever was as a military general. And the best part is, we're going to use one of your own projects to do it." the man in yellow said.

"What are you talking about?" Eiling asked as the man in yellow pulled out a vial of a cyan blue serum.

"I'm surprised you don't recognize this General. After all, wasn't it your idea? Project Blockbuster. A way to give humanity the strength to take on Superman should he ever go rogue. I'll admit, it's a valiant idea, but that was just your justification for it wasn't it. Your real intention was to create super soldiers for the military." the man in yellow said.

"How do you know about that?" Eiling asked, since Project Blockbuster had been an off the books operation.

"I know a lot of things. Like how this project was shelved after it became clear you couldn't control your test subjects and how the government had to put them on ice until they could find a way to undo the monstrous transformations you inflicted on them." the man said.

"Every single soldier volunteered for that project and they were informed of the risks beforehand." Eiling said.

"Were they really though? Not to mention the fact that you kept on working on it, even after it was shelled. Trying to get it right. I'll admit, it was a valiant attempt for an amateur. And I think it's poetic that you'll be the latest test subject." the man said.

"What no. You keep that crap away from me." Eiling said as he struggled against the restraints.

"What's the matter General? Don't you know that a good leader leads by example. If this was safe enough to inject in your own troops, surely you can take it too." the man said.

"Who are you?" Eiling asked.

"For the last few minutes your brain will work properly, you can call me Eobard Thawne." Thawne said as he injected Eiling with the serum before activating the extra strength shielding to contain Eiling as he screamed in pain as the transformation began.

"Tomorrow's ceremony will be one no one will forget." Thawne said with a grin as he left Eiling to his fate.
