Chapter 34

"Baby, you need to calm down." Joe said to Iris as they stood in the middle of the West house where Iris had just used her bionic arm to send his couch sliding to the other side of the room.

"Wade Eiling is the reason I spent about a month in a coma, lost some of my closest friends in that ambush and he's the reason I lost my arm! Don't tell me to be calm when I just got the news that he somehow managed to escape being brought to justice." Iris said angrily.

"I understand that, but destroying my living room won't solve anything." Joe said.

"Dad, you know what that bastard did. How are you so calm right now?" Iris asked.

"Iris I am furious right now, but I know that my anger is not going to solve anything right now. I'm sure that the government will track Eiling down, since he's on their most wanted list now." Joe said, trying to keep himself calm, right as Barry and Gabby walked into the house.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that. I just spoke to a friend at the justice department." Barry said.

"You have a friend at the Justice Department?" Joe asked his future son-in-law.

"Courtesy of the Justice League, but anyways, my contact there sent me footage from the base of Eiling's escape, I think you'll want to see this." Barry said as he pulled out his phone and played the video of Eiling's escape.

"Was that?" Joe asked.

"A flash of red lightning, yes it was and thank god the government already knows that mine is yellow otherwise they'd be investigating me for the escape." Barry said.

"But the red lightning is the calling card for the man in yellow." Iris said.

"Exactly. This was passed on to the Justice League since the military doesn't want to let the public know that metahumans can infiltrate our secure bases. They want to keep it quiet." Barry said.

"Makes sense." Joe said, since he could see the logic behind that plan.

"Anyways, Eiling is working with the man in yellow." Iris said, getting them back on topic.

"Is he though?" Gabby asked.

"What do you mean?" Iris asked.

"If Eiling had the man in yellow on speed dial, he'd be using an asset like that to his full advantage. I can't help but think that what we saw was an abduction, not a rescue." Gabby said.

"Either way, we need to find Eiling, since not only is he a fugitive from justice, but he might have information on the man in yellow." Barry said.

"We really need to figure out who that guy is here and what the hell he wants. And where the hell has he been, since he shows up the night your mom died Barry then he vanishes without a trace for 15 years and then he pops again out of nowhere and now he seems to be in no rush to go anywhere." Joe asked.

"I bet that he's spent the past 15 years studying Barry, since he seems to have a weird fixation with him. Joe, do you mind if I take a look at the case files from Barry's mom's murder. A fresh pair of eyes couldn't hurt." Gabby said.

"Yeah, I'll bring them to your office, we can go through them together." Joe said, since he couldn't deny that a fresh pair of eyes couldn't hurt, since both he and Barry had gone through those boxes dozens of times over the years, but they didn't have any new leads. Maybe Gabby's eyes could find something they'd missed.

"Thanks. If there's one thing I love, it's a good mystery." Gabby said.

"I swear, it almost looks like your nose is wiggling." Iris said.

"Shut up West. At least I'm not throwing a tantrum and throwing my parents' furniture around." Gabby said as Barry quickly used his speed to put the living room back in order.

"Dad, I am sorry about that, but I will admit that letting some of my anger out did help." Iris said.

"You could always punch things at the Cave, since it's reinforced." Barry offered.

"I know, I've been doing that everyday. But it's not enough." Iris said.

"Okay, I think that right now we all need drinks. Barry, call Cisco, I'll call Caitlin, we are all going out." Gabby said.

"Do we have to invite Cisco, I always feel bad with him having to be a fifth wheel." Iris asked.

"But it provides the rest of us with one of our favorite games, let's fix up Cisco." Gabby said and Barry and Iris both chuckled.

"Dad, do you and mom want to join us?" Iris asked.

"No, I think that those days ended for us when you were born." Joe said.

"Okay then. So I'll see you later." Iris said as they headed out, with both Barry and Gabby on the phone calling the rest of the gang.
