Chapter 15

"So, wait, your father, my stepfather, who is actually a speedster like you, is actually from a parallel universe, since apparently the multiverse is real and he's been proof of it this whole time?" Caitlin asked after Barry had told her, Cisco and Wells the little bit he already knew.

"Basically." Barry said.

"I let Barry bring you here because since you already know about his speed, I figured it was time that you knew the truth about everything." Henry said.

"Does my mom know about this?" Caitlin asked.

"Yes. I have no secrets from her. Just like how Nora knew too." Henry said.

"Wait, mom knew about this too?" Barry asked.

"Yes. You can't keep secrets from the people you love Barry. Which is why, even though Joe will likely kill me for saying this, I think you should tell Iris about your speed after she gets out of the hospital." Henry said.

"I was already planning on it. But anyways, dad, why don't you start from the beginning, tell us everything about what's going on?" Barry asked and Henry nodded.

"It all started on another earth, I think its designation in the multiverse would've been Earth-3 before it was wiped out, but anyways, Henry Allen is not the name I was born with. My birth name is Jay Garrick. I was a scientist and doctor on my earth until one night, I was working on an experiment in my lab when out of nowhere, I was struck by lightning, just like you were and it put me in a coma for a few months and then when I came out of it, I could run faster than sound. As I learned to control my powers, I began to use them to help people in my city. They called me the Flash." Henry said.

"That's what I'm calling myself. I had no idea you'd used that name." Barry said.

"It runs in the family, just like the powers." Henry said as showed them a case that contained what had to be his old suit.

"Wait, is this your old suit?" Cisco asked, taking in the glory of the original Flash suit, the top half of it being a bright red jacket with a gold lightning bolt on the chest and the bottom half was blue pants with red boots and on the mannequin's head was a silver kettle helmet with gold wings on it.

"Yeah, it's made of a special synthetic polymer that's designed to be resistant to both heat and friction created when I ran at superspeed." Henry said.

"What is this place?" Caitlin asked, wondering how this mountain could've suddenly been so well stocked on such short notice.

"This was my base of operations on my earth that I somehow brought with me when I came here. I called it the Cave." Henry said.

"Ugh, are we married to that name? Mount Flash sounds so much cooler." Cisco said and Henry chuckled.

"Fine." Henry said.

"How did you get here?" Wells asked, getting them back on topic and thinking about this could impact his long term plans and also how he'd never known about this, since there was no record of any of this in his own time period and changes to the timeline of this earth shouldn't have affected the timelines of other earths.

"Well, everything needs an opposite, so while I used my speed to become a hero, someone else had to rise to become my enemy. A speedster dressed in black who called himself the Rival. Was obsessed with beating me and proving he was the fastest man alive. He killed a lot of people on my world, no matter how hard I tried to stop him. Then when he found this place, we engaged in our fiercest battle ever. I don't think either of us had any intention of taking prisoners that time and before I realized it, our fight had escalated from just racing around the mountain to running around the entire planet at over Mach 20." Henry said, looking down in shame.

"Running that fast across a surface with a molten core." Caitlin realized and Henry nodded.

"We triggered the end of the world. But by the time I realized that, it was too late to stop it. I desperately began trying to run around this mountain, hoping that maybe I could generate enough speed to go back in time to stop myself from triggering the event." Henry said.

"Wait, I can travel in time?" Barry asked, shocked.

"Eventually, but you're not at that level yet and it's something that should only be done as a worst case scenario, but anyways, I'm not sure exactly what happened, since eventually there was just a huge burst of white light and the next thing I know, but the mountain and myself had somehow traveled here, the mountain taking the place of its counterpart on this earth. I still don't know how that happened, but when I came too, I found myself surrounded by Argus agents, since they'd detected the energy spike caused by my arrival." Henry said.

"What's Argus?" Cisco asked.

"Secret paramilitary organization created to help protect humanity against advanced earthly threats. I think that aliens like Superman are out of their jurisdiction, but this was before its current leader, Amanda Waller was appointed, which is good, since from what I hear, if she'd been in charge back then, I'd likely be in a government lab right now. But the leadership at the time allowed me to share my story and they took pity on me. They set me up with a new identity as Henry Allen on the condition that I didn't try to pick up where I left off on this world and I agreed, since I'd already sworn to myself to never use my speed again after I'd used it to accidentally destroy my own world and I wasn't going to risk doing the same to this one." Henry said.

"Why'd you choose the name Henry Allen?" Barry asked.

"I didn't want to be Jay Garrick anymore and Henry Allen was my mentor and a good friend on my world." Henry said.

"Got it. But Argus just took your word for it that you wouldn't fall back into old habits?" Barry asked.

"No. They assigned me a handler to keep an eye on me. A young Argus agent named Nora Thompson." Henry said.

"Wait, mom was an Argus agent?" Barry asked, since he'd always thought his mother was just a real estate agent.

"She was. Originally I was just her assignment and her friend, but things grew more and more serious between us and eventually she decided to retire from Argus after we got married to give our family a normal life, not to mention that was around the time Amanda Waller took over and she didn't want to risk her finding out about me, since even though the previous director of Argus kept all information about me off the books, she didn't want to take the chance, so she resigned went into deep cover as a real estate agent, severing all ties to Argus to keep us safe." Henry explained.

"Wow. But why didn't you use your speed to save Barry's mother?" Wells asked, since that would've complicated his plans even more.

"I tried, but for some reason that night, I couldn't access my speed. It was like the speed force was intentionally keeping me from saving Nora. I don't know why." Henry said.

"The speed force?" Cisco asked.

"It's what Barry and I tap into to access our powers. It's very hard to explain right now. But after Nora died, I was broken. If it wasn't for Barry, I likely would've tried to kill myself. Then I met your mother Caitlin. Carla helped put me back together again and I told her all this. Though I haven't used my speed since until today." Henry said.

"So this place contains everything that's left of your world" Cisco now asked, looking around at all the new toys.

"Yes, as far as I know. And now I can use this stuff and my own knowledge to train Barry, make him a better Flash than I ever was and make sure that he never makes the same mistakes I did." Henry said and Barry smiled.

"I can't wait. But now, we should probably get back. Caitlin, Cisco, you guys want to help me finish getting the loft ready for Iris's homecoming tomorrow?" Barry asked and they both nodded.

"Let's go then. Dr. Wells, I'll drop you off at home." Barry said.

"Take them first." Wells said and Barry and Henry nodded as they took Caitlin and Cisco and sped out.

"Well, this certainly complicates things a bit." Thawne said, wondering how he'd work this into his plans before a new idea came to mind. One that wouldn't exactly be easy, but one that was necessary to ensure the long term achievement of his goals.
