Chapter 14

After talking it over with Carla, Henry headed over to the loft his son shared with Iris.

"Hey dad." Barry said when he opened the door to his father.

"Hey slugger, what are you doing?" Henry asked.

"Getting the place ready for Iris to come home, since she's being discharged from the hospital in a few days." Barry said.

"That's right, I remember Caitlin told me that. You certainly seem to have gotten a lot done in a short amount of time." Henry said.

"I've been trying to keep busy to keep my mind off Iris." Barry said, since he'd installed a motorized chair at the base of the stairs to help her get from the main floor to the upper level with their bedroom, since Barry did not want her to feel like she had to sleep on the couch until she recovered and there weren't any bedrooms on the main floor and now seemed like the worst possible time to think about moving somewhere else, since Barry knew that Iris would hate the idea of moving just because of her injuries.

"Well, can you take a break, since there's something we need to talk about." Henry said.

"What's that?" Barry asked.

"I saw the way you left your mother's grave earlier." Henry said.

"What are you talking about?" Barry asked a little too quickly, only for Henry to chuckle.

"It's okay Barry. I've honestly been expecting to see you move like that for years." Henry said.

"What do you mean?" Barry asked as to his surprise, his father suddenly started vibrating his hand at superspeed.

"It runs in the family. Literally." Henry said.

"Wait, you're a speedster too?" Barry asked and Henry nodded.

"There's a lot I need to tell you. But this isn't the place to do it." Henry said.

"Okay, so where is it?" Barry asked and Henry smiled.

"Keep up with me if you can and you'll find out." Henry said with a grin as he sped out of the loft, leaving a trail of golden lightning behind him as he ran and Barry grinned as he followed his father out of the loft, thrilled that he could share this gift with his dad and that he wouldn't have to hide his speed from his dad, but now he was more curious than anything else about where they were going and how his father had gotten his speed in the first place.

Barry barely managed to keep up with his father as they ran throughout Central City, out towards the mountains outside of the city's limits, following him until they arrived at the base of one of the largest ones.

"Huh, I still got it after 20 years." Henry said with a smirk as he looked over to his son, who was bent over, trying to catch his breath.

"Dad, what are we doing out here?" Barry asked.

"I'll show you." Henry said as he moved a rock to reveal a hand scanner, much to Barry's surprise as Henry placed his hand on the scanner, causing it to turn green before a rock wall slid to the side to reveal a secret passage.

"What is this place?" Barry asked as he followed his father inside and not even trying to hide the fact that he was geeking out big time over the fact that his dad apparently had a secret bunker hidden in the mountains as they entered the main room, which was one large circular platform full of digital screens and what looked like hologram projectors (picture the mission room of the Cave from Young Justice, but with red walls and gold lightning accents on it).

"Well, for the first 5 years after I arrived on this world, it was home." Henry said, waiting for those words to take effect and he did not have to wait long.

"Wait, did you just say you arrived on this world? You're an alien?" Barry asked, wondering if that was the cause of his speed, only for his father to shake his head no.

"No, I'm human. Or well metahuman anyways. I'm from this planet, just not this dimension. You know the multiverse theory right?" Henry asked.

"Wait, that theory is true?" Barry asked.

"Yes. I am from a parallel universe." Henry said.

"I have so many questions going through my head right now I'm not even sure where to start asking them." Barry said.

"How about I start from the beginning." Henry said.

"Hang on a second, I'll be right back." Barry said as he sped out of this cave and returned a few minutes later after having dropped Cisco, Caitlin and now Wells.

"What's going on, where are we?" Caitlin asked, since like Barry, Cisco was too busy geeking out over where they are.

"They all know about my speed, so they should know the full story." Barry said and Henry nodded.

"Since Carla already knows this already, it's only right." Henry said.

"Know what?" Caitlin asked, raising an eyebrow at her stepfather.

"Get comfortable, this might take awhile." Henry said as he showed them to a lounge area for all of them to sit down in before he began his tale.
