There was so much fog that I could not even see a step in front of me. I wished that this fact meant that they saw nothing around their strong bodies too. This way, my chances of survival would increase. My ears, picking up their distant howling, gave me a rush of adrenaline as I ran at a scattered and unsure pace. The town square felt eerie, with only the moonlight as a light source. 

As I was heading to our secret rendez-vous point, my mind was going back to what Shaw had explained to me earlier. He told me that Halloween and Seek, a game that did not actually resemble that much the classic game named 'Hide and Seek' humans like to play, was a tradition for the pack to do on the evening of the 31st of October. 

"Why just on Halloween night?", I had inquired. 

"It's better this way, Likka. Trust me, once a year is way more than necessary for this epic event.", my boyfriend had answered, a glimmer of violence passing through his burgundy eyes. 

I did not know yet that this game, this 'Halloween and Seek' thing was basically an excuse for werewolves to hunt down and the end lives of the most feeble members of the pack. I was a new addition to this clan and I needed to prove myself to them.

Shaw and I arrived almost simultaneously at the abandoned drive-in. The second he spotted me, my beau sprinted toward me using his four limbs to go faster and as he stood up, I jumped into his arms.

"Thank god, you're still alive.", I panted, my forehead covered in sweat.

"Only the weakest get killed before even arriving at the Brawl.", he reassured me. "So that means, that you..." He brushed away a strand of my sandy brown hair that was on my face before carrying on with his sentence. "...And I are tough."

I giggled, memories in my head taking me back to when I was just a little pup who had just fell foolishly in love with a tiny good-looking Shaw.

"We're tough enough, yeah..."

My back now against the building wall, he leaned in to kiss me, our hands intertwined on both sides of my body. This here was why I had accepted to join his werewolf friends, I wanted to be with my lover everyday. Forever. I could not bear to be apart from him like we once were forced to.

I was the first to pull back from our embrace, scooting to my left. 

"Halloween and Seek... We need to go..!", I reminded him, a smirk painting my lips.

He sighed, bringing a hand to his lips to blow me a kiss.

"Fine. Follow me, I know a shortcut."

As soon as we arrived at the Brawl, I sensed a strange vibe from the other members of Shaw's pack. They were growling and quickly we were both circled by the big werewolves.

"Sh..."

"We're the last ones to get here...", my boyfriend stated lifelessly.

"Impossible..."

His 'friends' snarled at us, I did not desire to let go of Shaw, I was gripping his flannel shirt, but they pulled him away from me. 

My breath was shaking, my eyes darting to the forest surrounding us, my hands fidgeting on the zipper of my coat, my vision blurred by the fogginess. Shaw layed on the mushy grass, he had been pushed down by one of the creatures. 

I wanted to help him however, Gobbo, one of my boyfriend's best pals, took my arms, making me back away from the situation. 

"What are you doing? He's your friend!", I yelled, scared and not condoning at all this horrible game. 

I would prefer dying first. That way, I would not have to watch Shaw, MY person, die before me. 

"You are crazy! Let me go!", I shrieked, fending off of me the stupidly large werewolf.

I could not catch sight of Shaw, where was he?

"Shaw?", I mumbled, being captured by Gobbo's claws again.

No, no, no, this was not the end of us.

I was right.

"YOU'VE BEEN PRANKED BABY", he had howled cockily accompanied with the laughter of the rest of the group. 

"Huh?", was my response to all of this. The fact that my boyfriend was standing in front of me, unharmed confused me, but then again, I had only deduced that he was hurt.

It made sense, I thought, my heart racing. We both had survived.

"Speaking of the real losers...", chuckled Gobbo,  glancing behind me. He trailed off, licking his fangs.
