Chapter 2

Once Daniel and Melissa were done fighting about why Daniel was gone for so long. He told here about what he discovered.

"I was chasing a vampire through the forest, and I hate forest runs, but I managed to corner and injure it" Daniel said when they were both calmer "but I got surprised by a werewolf soon after killing it, but I did get an injury" he pulled up his sleeve.

"It isn't a bite is it" Melissa asked a little sad about the fact that she could lose her son by her clan's guns

"No" Daniel lied "but I did get a rather nasty scratch"

"Can I see it" Melissa slowly went forward and touched it, but Daniel immediately recoiled by bring his arm closer to himself because of the pain.

"No it is rather sensitive to, well, everything" Daniel said, it was a tell a lie and a truth thing that he had gotten used to when doing a job and lying about following a person of interest, and then they die a few days, weeks, or months later because of him.

"Okay, but please go to the clan doctor" Melissa said "I need to know that you are okay, and going to be okay, but other than that you have another mission in Phoenix, Arizona"

"Okay " Daniel said "what is it and who am I going for" and a screen came up with a typical high-school girl.

"Do you know who this is" Melissa asked looking at Daniel and he shook his head 'no' "I didn't think so, but this is Lacy Woods, fifteen years of age, and we have reason to believe that she is a target for a turning, but we can't let that happen"

"So where do I come in other than protecting her" I asked

"You are going to be a transfer student in Phoenix Academy, the school that she is going to, and you are to get to know her, find out where she lives, find out if there is a vampire clan there, and if she is a target. If she is you are to bring her here, so that we can protect her, and everything that you'll need is in a case on your bed. You leave in three hours, so pack your stuff and get ready. Dismissed" Melissa took out the drive and handed it to Daniel, and Daniel waited a second before taking it from her.

Arizona here I come Daniel thought as he walked back to his room, but when he got there his arm started to burn reminding him of what is to come I hope that I change there, but not in-front of anyone and certainly not here in my clan Daniel sat on his bed for a minute trying to ignore the pain and wait for it to go away, but it didn't. So Daniel packed his stuff and saw that he had almost two hours left to burn, so he took a hot shower and then went on his computer, and when he was on he searched when the next full moon was. Then he cursed, and saw that a full moon eclipse was only five days away. Then he searched the relation ship between werewolves and a full moon eclipse and went into the clan network of studying them and finding out what they did and what happened. Every hunter had to record information about a certain area and about what they were hunting so that they could put it into the worldwide system that all hunters could use. That was what Daniel was looking at for what he wanted to find out.

Full-Moon Eclipse & Werewolves

A full moon eclipse effects all werewolves, but what it mostly does is make them stronger. It has been found that a werewolf on this rare occurrence can have up to three to five hundred percent more strength, smell, and sight than on a regular full moon, but what happens to turning werewolves on this area is unknown.

Alpha's:

Alpha's have more power over their pack, and they are almost impossible to kill or get to without being detected, and all of their senses are enhanced by at least three hundred and at most five or six hundred times that of what they were, but no one really knows anything else because all of the hunters that have tried to study them in the past were killed before they could actually get enough information about them...like how to kill them in this state.

Luna's:

The Luna's have less power over the pack than the alpha's, but their motherly instincts and healing power is enhanced by a little less than the Alpha's, but they are still as dangerous and hard to kill as the Alpha's

Beta's:

Even though they are the lowest member of the pack and like the others of the pack besides the Alpha and the Luna, they are still considerably powerful and...

Daniel skipped the rest of the article trying to find a section about werewolves shifting for their first time on this full moon, or also known as 'Activation' to all hunters around the world, but he didn't find anything about it besides the fact that no hunter knows what has happened to a Activated werewolf on this phenomenon, and no one wants to find out because a shifter that terrifying and that powerful would be a target by everything and anything, and there has never in the history of hunters been a hunter that has turned into a werewolf, but if there was then that hunter would be discharged by the silver of death. Daniel read it over one more time before shutting down and closing his computer and putting it in the suitcase that he was going to be bringing with him. He knew that he would never be able to come back with out cheating the system, but he would have to figure out how to do that later.

"Daniel please head to the hangar doors for take off" Melissa said on the intercom and Daniel grabbed his rather light suitcase and headed to the takeoff strip. All hunters traveled to places by either air or car and if you were traveling by air then it was always with or piloted by a fellow hunter that took flight school. Daniel looked at his watch and saw that he had only ten minutes to get to the plane, and he was never late with anything, so if he was now then something would seem off. He ran a little to save time and then at three minutes before he was at the plane and by the airstrip.

"You're a little later than usual Daniel" Ashley, the pilot of the plane said looking at me from her seat in the cockpit, and then she smiled and looked forward as the plane steadily went along the strip before lifting up and soaring through the air with Daniel trying to enjoy the ride this time without getting sick, but it seemed like the bite was making it worse by throbbing as the plane went through the air. Then Ashley came through the narrow entrance from the cockpit to the lounge, and sat on one of the couches next to me.

"Still not much of a flyer are ya" she said and Daniel shook his head no a little faster than he wanted to, and this made him put his head in his hands and look at the floor. Ashley chuckled and they sat the rest of the ride in silence until a robotic voice said on the intercom that we were about three miles out and that it's request to land in the Arizona's Airport, so Ashley went back to the controls and the plane landed softly. Daniel was actually relieved because last time he was on a flight he was in the bathroom for almost half of it, but otherwise he quickly grabbed his suitcase and left the plane eager to be on land again. When he was he almost fell onto it, but before he actually did his instincts took over and he took three deep breaths and said goodbye to Ashley before going through the airport and to the waiting car in the parking. It was normal to find a packet with your name on it with keys inside of it in the counter of the check-in desk, and the person behind it may be confused why it was there and why they haven't, or didn't see it before hand, but they eventually let it go and went on with their normal everyday job.

Daniel went outside and pressed the button for the car alarm, but didn't hear anything. So he went around aimlessly searching for a car that he couldn't hear, and then nine floors up a loud beep sounded every time he pressed the lock and unlock button. As he got up to it he saw that it was a jeep.

Perfect at everything Daniel thought as he climbed in and drove to the school that was at least nine miles away to get signed up as a sophomore, and when he got there it was a lot bigger than he expected with all red blocks of concrete and the inside was covered in red, orange, yellow, and a little blue, and a phoenix was plastered on the bottom of the gym's hardwood floor.

As he went to the office he looked in the classrooms and figured that if the office was at the back of the school then this must be a fairly safe place to go, but that didn't matter because he went around looking at the signs that were above every turn and classroom like a store, but then again this place was that big. When he went into the office the principal already had a sheet of paper on the counter waiting for him.

"Why isn't the office by the main entrance" Daniel asked "I think that it would be safer for everyone that way"

"Yes it might be safer for the students, but if the office was by the doors then the people in the office would be the first ones to get killed and with the office back here I can watch the camera's and lock down the school, or a couple of hallways and classrooms, and still have time to call the cops" the principal said and Daniel just shrugged and grabbed the sheet which had his schedule on it for him "you'll see what I mean during a lock-down drill" and Daniel looked at him confused for a second before looking at his list of classes.

Chemistry 909

Gym

Art 107

Lunches

Free-time

After school Activity (optional)

Daniel was surprised about many things like why there was only three real classes, a free-time, what or how many lunches there were and what they were like, and what kinds of after school activities there were. He looked at the principal's desk to see that he wasn't there anymore, so he looked at his list again and followed the signs like a bat in a cave until he got to his class. He waited by the door for a second and then stepped in right as everyone was doing their own thing. Daniel looked around until he saw his target, Lacy, and they locked eyes for a second before Daniel broke and went to his seat.

That was strange Lacy thought as she continued to stare at him for another minute and then looked at her book again and continued to read on the third chapter. Daniel realized part of what the principal said because he noticed that there were no classrooms near the front of the school and there weren't any classes on the lower level of the school, but all of the classes were on the second floor.

So that's what made it safer here Daniel thought as he got out a book and started to read unaware that both him and the girl were both the only ones in the class reading books, and not school books about the subject that they were in, talking in groups with friends, or doing stupid things to other students. An airplane came in Daniel's direction from one of the pranksters, and bullies of the school but Daniel caught it before it could touch his head. Then he crushed it and threw it in the trash from where he was standing all while still reading his book, but Lacy noticed and thought that it was strange that a person could do that and still read like it didn't distract them at all, and throw it in a trash that he didn't even notice was there until now. She continued to look at him thinking about what he could be, but then the teacher came in and everyone straightened out in a second flat and where all looking at the teacher who was walking through the room. Daniel put his book away and also watched the teacher as she looked at everyone in surprise and a little honor.

"Thank you class, and if you keep that up then we will have a free day at the end of this week with your choice of what to do" she said and looked at Lacy who was still reading intently. She seemed to notice this and looked up from her book, then noticing that almost everyone but Daniel and a few others like the trouble maker, Mark, who was still looking at Daniel with a vengeance, and anger for what Daniel did to his paper plane that took him almost an hour to make. Lacy quickly put her book away and everyone looked back at the teacher as she began to talk about what the expectations of the class and the school were, and what was going to happen during this school-year.

"If you would look at your schedules please" she said "you will see that whereas some of you have three or four classes, and others have full days of classes. This isn't your fault, but the randomized schedule maker that the school makes for you" Daniel looked at his schedule and then looked around to see who had more classes than him, and to his answer several people exclaimed about having more than five classes, or about not being able to have fun during the day while Lacy looked at her schedule and saw that she had only three classes; Chemistry in room 909 or the room that she was in, Gym, and Art in room 107. They didn't know it yet but both Lucy and Daniel had the same classes together, but different free-time tastes.

"Hey" Lucy almost jumped out of her skin when she heard Daniel's voice next to her

"Oh hi, you scared me" she said and then looked at him. He was well built with almost an emotionless stance and his eyes were distant like they were trying to find something that was interesting, but all of it soon went away when he put out his hand for a handshake.

"I'm Daniel" Daniel said going for the calm and approachable type of style at the moment, and Lucy stretched out her hand and met his.

"I'm Lucy" she breathed and they both looked at each-other for a second before Daniel went back to his seat mentally slapping himself for the awkward approach, and Lucy was mentally slapping herself for staring.

"Okay class settle down" the teacher, now known as Mrs. Webbs, said and the class got quiet and went to their seats with some people still looking at their schedule the whole time "class is about to end, but I want to tell you that we are going to have a lock-down drill tomorrow that will last the whole day, so please tell your parents, but there will be no class when it is over and all of you will be given two days off to rest and recuperate" everyone in the room groaned at the mention of the drill. Daniel was still very confused why everyone hated the drill so much, and then he saw that Lucy had her head on the table in frustration and Daniel knew that she knew that answer to the his question. Then the bell rang through out the school's system and everyone tried to push through the doors to be the first ones in the hallways. I slowly went over and saw why, the whole place was crowded like a beehive, but Daniel noticed that Lacy was traveling through it like it was normal and she was going through people that either closed in on the walls and left space to go through in the middle, or go along the walls from large crowds. Daniel walked out and almost got trampled on by a hundred students going down the path, and then he was grabbed by the arms and dragged somewhere. They went through a door and Daniel was dropped onto the floor and kicked in the sides a couple of times, but this didn't really effect him that much because he jumped right up and kicked his assaulter's in the faces with a couple of well placed kicks and when he was done that kid named Mark and a couple of others were on the floor unconscious, and in the bathroom.

Of coarse they bring me to the one place without cameras to try and teach me a lesson Daniel thought as he dragged them all to the far wall.

"That should teach you who to mess with next time" Daniel said and then left. The incident only took a minute, but the halls were much clearer now, so he followed the signs to his next class...Gym. When he got there he saw that they were doing laps at the moment, so he went around the other's and put his stuff down before joining. He was going noticeably faster than the others, and so was Lucy, but at ten laps like the board in the front said. They stopped and did twenty push-ups before being able to sit down.

"Lucy, Daniel in my office" the teacher said from the top right side of the Gym, and they both looked at each-other in confusion before walking over there with everyone that was passing them staring at them in confusion.

"You are probably wondering why I would call you two up here at the start of class like this, but I can assure you that you are not in trouble" the teacher said once he both entered his office and shut the door, and we both relaxed as he continued "I brought you in here to see if you would like to change your schedules to join the city guard class" and when he said this both Lucy and Daniel were shocked "you would still go here if that is what you want to know, but in order to graduate you would need to pass this class with no going back to your regular schedule, and I know that you both have only two more years left in this school and that you, Daniel, are a new addition to this school, but with what you both just did out there and in only five minutes of entering the gym. I think that you both would be perfect for this class"

"Um thanks sir, but--" Daniel started but the teacher cut him off to talk...again.

"Don't worry about where you are going to stay or what grades you get here, it will all be taken care of once you join" he said "but I have to warn you both that even if you are second years and the only ones that I am asking so far. This class is going to test your strength, skill, speed, and combat in all areas of everything, and you will not be allowed to leave the area until you have completed your training...well except for special occasion like the eclipse that is happening soon, and everyone will be allowed to stay outside and do whatever they want for the whole day, night, and technically, morning"

"Okay" both Daniel and Lucy seemed to say at the same time and then went quiet as they looked at each-other in confusion.

"Okay then I'm glad to hear that" he said "pack up your stuff and be by the front of the school in a half hour to leave by bus to the location, and I am only telling you this. They aren't going to let you see where they are taking you so be prepared for anything...unless--" he stopped for a second thinking about something, and all of the sudden a large commotion started an uproar outside of the office. He went over to the blinds and lifted one of them to see that there was a circle around something that could only be fighting kids in the middle of the gym.

"What did you want to say" Daniel asked interrupting the teacher's thoughts, and the teacher's head snapped to him so fast that a slight pop could be heard in his neck.

"Never-mind" he said "it doesn't matter, but the thing that does in my gym floor staying blood free this school year" he got up and marched out the door yelling at the crowd leaving us in the room, and then Lucy went over and locked the door.

Thanks for reading this chapter and I'll have another one out soon, but I can't do as much as I usually do on weeks because my home computer was taken away for a week, so thanks for reading and bye, 3631 words, 1-29-18.
