Charlie was the last one! He was going to get the factory! I was hoping he would take to one of the traps with the other kids, but he didn't.

"Mr. Wonka, Charlie is the only one left" said Charlie's grandpa.

Daddy got a look of shock. "You mean you're the only one?" He asked.

Charlie nodded "Yes."

"What happened to the others?" Asked Daddy.

Well at least he doesn't suspect that I did anything I thought, sighing in relief.

Daddy seized Charlie's hand and began shaking it up and down.

"Oh my dear boy that means you've won!" He said giddy "Oh I do congratulate you, I really do! I'm absolutely delighted! I had a hunch, you know, right from the beginning! Well done! Now we mustn't dilly or dally because we have an enormous number of things to do before the day is out! But luckily for us we have the great glass elevator to speed things a-"

Daddy was cut off when he ran straight in to the elevator. I sighed, I told him not to make it out of clear glass.

I got into the elevator with Daddy and our winner. I pouted, looks like it's the basement for me I thought sadly.

Daddy hit a button.

"Up and out?" Asked Charlie "what kind of room is that?"

Daddy smiled "hold on."

We started to go up and  I realized what was going on.

"Daddy, you said we would never push that button!" I said.

"Well today is a special day!" Said Daddy "we need to go much faster though or else we'll just never break through!"

"Break through what?" Asked Charlie.

"I've been longing to push that button for years!" Daddy smiled "Well here we go, up and out!"

"But do you really mean..." asked Charlie's grandpa.

"Yeah! I do!" Answered Daddy.

"But it's made of glass!" Said Charlie's grandpa "it'll smash into a million peices!"

Daddy laughed.

We made it through the glass roof of one of the main chimneys of the factory. I continued to pout as we fell down toward the earth. Just as we were about to fall to the ground, Daddy pushed the rocket button and we flew in mid air.

Looking down at the kids I couldn't help but crack a small smile. Basically this is what it looked like:

Augustus was covered in chocolate and eating himself.

Violet was blue, but flexible.

Veruca was covered in garbage and had flies buzzing around her.

And finally Mike was freakishly tall, he might have a future in the NBA.

"Where do you live?" Daddy asked Charlie.

"Right over there, that little house" said Charlie

I stared at a little house that was tilted to one side. I was amazed it was staying upright.

Daddy flew us over the top of the house.

"This looks like a good place to park!" Said Daddy.

"DADDY! WAIT!" I yelled.

But it was too late, he parked us right on the roof of Charlie's house and we went through the roof and into the middle of the house.

I looked around "Oh thank goodness! The house isn't completely destroyed!"

"Hi mom!" Called Charlie as he and his grandfather raced to his parents.

Daddy and I stepped out slowly.

This is Willy Wonka and his daughter Wendy" Charlie introduced us "they gave us a ride home."

"I see that" said his mom.

"You must be the boys..." Daddy made a strange gulping sound.

"Parents?" asked Charlie's dad.

"Yeah... that" said Daddy.

"He says Charlie's won something!" grandpa Joe told his parents.

"Not just something" said Daddy going through their cupboards "the most something something of any something that there's ever been. I'm going to give this little boy co-ownership of my factory. Wendy will help of course."

My frown deepened, but Daddy didn't notice, he was too busy smiling at Charlie.

"You must be joking" said grandpa Joe.

"No really, it's true" said Daddy "because you see, a few months ago I was having my semi-annual haircut and I had the strangest realization. In that one silver hair I saw reflected my life's work, my factory, my beloved oompa loompa's, my precious Wendy, who would look after them when I was gone. I realized in that moment I must find a heir...and I did Charlie...you."

I felt sadness wash over me, why couldn't I be his only heir. I felt like I would cry right there.

"That's why you sent out the golden tickets" said Charlie, finally getting it.

"Uh-huh" said Daddy "I invited five children to the factory and the one who was the least rotten would be the winner."

"That's you, Charlie" grandpa Joe told him.

"So what do you say, are you ready to leave this all this behind and come live with Wendy and me in the factory?" Daddy asked him.

"Sure, of course, I mean if it's alright my family can come too?" Charlie asked.

"Oh, my dear boy, of course they can't!" Daddy said with a smile.

I smiled. Maybe now he won't take the factory I thought.

"You can't run a chocolate factory with a family hanging over you like an old dead goose!" he said. "No offense" he said to charlie's other grandparents.

"None taken...Jerk..." said Charlie's other grandpa.

I frowned at what Daddy said too. Was that what he saw me as? Just an old dead goose hanging over him? holding him back...

"A chocolatier has to run free and solo. He has to follow his dreams, gosh darn the consequences! I mean look at me, I have no family and I'm a giant success!"

My heart shattered when he said that. If he had no family then what was I to him?

"So if I go with you to the factory, I won't ever see my family again?" asked Charlie.

"Yeah, consider that a bonus!" said Daddy.

"Then I'm not going" Charlie stated firmly "I wouldn't give up my family for anything not for all the chocolate in the world."

"Oh... I see...that's weird" said Daddy with a look of confusion "there's other candy too besides chocolate?"

Charlie shook his head "I'm sorry Mr. Wonka, I'm staying here."

"Wow" said Daddy "well that's just... unexpected and...weird... I suppose in that case I'll just...Goodbye then. Come on Wendy."

I walked into the elevator an we took off into the sky. Once we were up there Daddy seemed to recover from his shock and confusion.

"Well, that was weird!" he said to me "What do you think made him change his mind?"

I crossed my arms over my chest and glared up at him.

He took notice "Wendy?"

"Don't talk to me!" I told him.

"Wendy, what's wrong?" he asked putting a hand on my shoulder.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I yelled.

We landed in the factory and I stormed out heading for my room. Daddy stood in front of me.

"What is wrong with you?" he asked me.

"Why do you care?" I asked coldly "I'm just an old dead goose that's hanging over you and holding you back!"

"What? Wendy that's not true!" he said.

"Yes it is! And to think I got rid of all those other kids just so I could stay your number one! Now I realize the only number one you have is yourself!"

"Wendy, don't say that, your the only one I really cared about!"

"STOP LYING TO ME!" I screamed "You said yourself you have no family! Well now you got your wish!"

I ran to my room and this time I really wasn't coming out. Not for food, not for anything! I never wanted to see or hear Willy Wonka again!

I crawled in my bed and cried myself to sleep, I guess the real loser of the contest was me...
