Disappointment at the Lair
Alright, Izuku, you've faced giant robots, villains, and even your own classmates.
But meeting the guy who literally controls most of the villain world?
Yeah, this one takes the cake.
The air in All For One's lair is heavy, a mix of tension and something far darker. Kurogiri leads me through the final corridor, and I'm greeted by the sight of the man himself—All For One.
His presence is... overwhelming. But not in the way you'd expect. It's not like he's about to leap out and attack. No. It's worse. He's just sitting there, calm, like he's in control of everything, which is exactly the problem.
Me: Okay, just stay cool. You've got this. You're a villain now—remember that.
Kurogiri steps aside, leaving me standing a few feet away from All For One. The silence feels like it's stretching on forever, and honestly, I'm half-expecting some kind of grand speech from him. But instead, he just... stares.
All For One: Usagi.
Me: That's me. Totally evil, definitely not secretly a hero, Usagi.
He leans forward slightly, and the way his voice echoes in the chamber makes my skin crawl.
All For One: I've been hearing quite a bit about you lately. Your performance at USJ was... unexpected.
Oh boy, here it comes.
All For One continues, his tone steady, but there's a strange edge to it, like he's trying to figure out a puzzle he can't quite solve.
All For One: You took on All Might. But instead of commanding the Nomu as you were supposed to, you fought him yourself. Why?
Well... crap.
I try to come up with something that sounds convincing but not too revealing.
Me: I figured I could handle it. All Might was getting the upper hand on the Nomu, so I thought I'd take over. Show him what I can do.
All For One tilts his head, clearly not impressed.
All For One: And yet, the plan was not to fight All Might directly. It was to destroy him. You were reckless.
Me: Recklessly? I mean, sure, I didn't exactly follow the script, but I'm still standing, aren't I? And All Might? He was shaken. That's gotta count for something.
But here's the thing—I can see it in his posture, the way his voice doesn't rise or fall. He's not mad. He's... disappointed.
And I can't figure out if that's worse.
All For One: You let emotions guide you, Usagi. That's not how we win wars.
Me: Wait, what? Me? Emotional? Nah, that doesn't sound like me at all. Okay, maybe a little. But still.
I cross my arms, trying to look as unfazed as possible. Inside, though, I'm screaming. Because if All For One is picking up on this, how long before everyone else does?
Me: Look, I know I deviated from the plan, but the outcome is still the same. We rattled the heroes, sent a message, and we all made it out. So what's the problem?
He leans back, and there's this eerie calmness about him that makes my stomach turn.
All For One: The problem, Usagi, is that you're not the villain you once were. You've changed.
Me: Great. More people telling me I've changed. Just what I needed.
I keep my face as neutral as possible, even as my mind races. How much does he know? How much has he noticed? I mean, it's not like I've been slipping up... much.
All For One: Your aggression, your unpredictability... it's still there, but your motives feel... diluted.
Me: Diluted? I'm out here leading an attack on a major hero academy, and you think I'm softening?
All For One: Yes.
Well, that was blunt.
Okay, Izuku.
Keep calm.
Don't freak out. Just play along.
Me: I'm still the same guy, trust me. USJ was just the beginning. You'll see.
But All For One shakes his head, and it feels like the room just got a little colder.
All For One: I've seen many villains rise and fall, Usagi. I know when someone's heart isn't fully committed to the cause. Your battle with All Might wasn't about victory, it was about proving something... to yourself.
And there it is. He's starting to see through me, but not completely. He thinks it's an internal struggle, not the fact that I'm actually a hero pretending to be a villain.
Me: Yeah, maybe I was trying to prove something. Like the fact that I'm still capable of crushing a pro hero. Isn't that what you want?
All For One doesn't respond right away. He just watches me, like he's analyzing every word, every movement.
All For One: You're walking a dangerous path, Usagi. If your loyalty falters, there will be consequences.
The way he says 'consequences' sends a shiver down my spine.
Me: Yeah, no pressure or anything.
All For One: Remember, Usagi, you are not irreplaceable.
Wow, thanks for the pep talk.
I give him a small nod, hiding the tension in my shoulders.
Me: I'll keep that in mind.x
All For One's disappointment lingers in the air as Kurogiri steps back up beside me, signaling that the conversation is over for now.
