The Revelations

In a whirlwind of a moment, Richard is suddenly taken into the custody by the US DOD, where he is quickly put under strict observation by the military personnel headed by a team led by Colonel Matthew Bollinger without any apparent reasons. Richard requests for his advocate to be present when Colonel Bollinger reveals that a 40-year-old transponder signal has suddenly been activated and has been transmitting data out of one of the uncharted remotest jungles of Vietnam. Richard, perplexed as to why he, an ordinary civilian should be involved in such an irrelevant matter, presses for more information when it's revealed that the signal is coming from a man long presumed to be dead. Richard is taken aback when it turns out to be, Major Samuel Linklater , his missing father. Upon further decoding by encryption experts, it is revealed that the signal has an audio message encoded into it which after translation is heard as "Come, Richard... come and save me". Richard could recognise that voice anywhere and confirms it to be of his father's.

While clearing out the attic one day, Richard comes across an old leather-bound journal which details about his father's exploits in Nam. Several entries are found immaculately written but then it began, incomplete entries with barely legible scribbles describing encounters that were not entirely...human in nature. He also comes across a symbol unlike anything he's ever seen, a route to somewhere in the middle of nowhere with no other details and the letters – C.M.C. Richard confronts his mother as to why she's been hiding such information from him when she reveals that the journal was the only thing that they could salvage after countless search parties had raided the areas known to be the last known location of his father. She has kept it as memorabilia and tucked it away when she couldn't make sense of the writings while mourning for his husband.
