Many experiments failed which resulted in the myriad corpses strewn across the facility but the successful experiments resulted in the creation of the ape men, the reptilian creature and the moth like creature. When Richard sees on one of the tapes he is shaken to his core- his father was one such test subject and was transformed into the reptilian creature which explains why he was left alive previously. The leader is revealed to be Colonel Morgan Craig, and when Samuel decided to expose the crimes that were being committed, he was subjected to the experiments. This resulted them being unable to venture out far from the lab under which was the source of the liquid and thus explaining the local sightings. Denver comes across another tape where he sees a woman with a familiar face being transformed into the moth like creature.
